And back in the hospital I go!
ThreeCrows replied to bellabloom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So sorry this is so tough for you. Sounds like your surgeon is less than helpful. Maybe you can find one willing to take over your follow up care? Praying for you here as well -
Gas pain and nausea
ThreeCrows replied to suitechicguy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stay hydrated, and use a heating pad on your tummy. That's what saved me. -
Stomach making weird noises
ThreeCrows replied to cbp0229's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had rumbles and stomach achiness when I was on liquids. On purées it is better. -
What can't be? Can you puree shredded cheese with refried beans?
ThreeCrows replied to monopoly2015's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is very different doctor to doctor! I'm on purées, but that includes only protein--no carbs. Not even veggies yet. One of the recommendations from my NUT is refried beans and cheese... Which is hardly low-fat. -
Bariatric Advantage Nectar Protein

My surgeons office/nutritionist sells sample packs with lots of flavors, so there must be a way of getting individual packets. I've tried three or four flavors--Today's was Carribean Cooler, which was super coconutty. Can't say I'm crazy about any of them, but YMMV. -
To hospital or not? Help
ThreeCrows replied to bellabloom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh good, I'm glad to hear you are doing somewhat better. I'm attached to my heating pad now too, although my eleven year old son tries to steal it. His feet are always cold. -
Post op diet - what was yours?
ThreeCrows replied to kevinsvsgjourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still on liquids nine days out. I go back to see my surgeon and nutritionist on Thursday, then get to move up to purées and soft foods. Two weeks of that, then regular diet. So a week of liquids doesn't sound that bad! -
Lying here eight hours post surgery...
ThreeCrows posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And all has gone very smoothly. The pain is not nearly as bad as I'd imagined. Lots of burping seems to be keeping the gas down so far, and After my scan in the morning I'll be ready to drink liquids. For now it's ice chips and lots of napping. I honestly can say my anxiety was far worse than the reality! Nursing has been great and responsive, and having my sweet husband here all day was wonderful. I'm wondering when or if my hunger will return? Nothing so far! -
Ugh. I hate the protein shakes. My surgeon says 100 gms of protein a day, but I'm getting more like 60-70. I'm still on liquids for another week, and I can't wait for cottage cheese, tuna, and some actual food, pureed or not. Refried beans with cheese. Argh, I'm dying here! Good news is I've lost over 20 pounds at 8 days out. I'm sure it will slow down when I get some food in me.

I got a Fitbit One for Christmas, and I love it. I also have the Aria scale which is the best thing ever... I love that it tracks my weight for me each day!

To hospital or not? Help
ThreeCrows replied to bellabloom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So sorry to see you are still sick. I can't imagine two surgeries back to back. The thing that has helped most for my pain (and you may be doing this already) is a heating pad on my belly. It got me through the worst couple days, and now feels good on the occasional twinge. If you don't have one yet... Otherwise, just take care of yourself. It sounds like you may have turned the corner. -
Help !????????????????
ThreeCrows replied to nana2713's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had weird spotting since surgery 9 days ago. I think it's just a physical stress thing. -
Four days post op, and I feel hungry...
ThreeCrows replied to ThreeCrows's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today I'm eight days post op, and while the cravings are better, I'm finding myself thinking about what I can include next week on my new "soft" diet. Now I can think about cottage cheese (which I love). My big guilt of the week: I took a Cheese-it from the box my kids were snacking from, chewed it and let it dissolve on my tongue. Bad carbs, I know. Not liquid. But it tasted like heaven. Still, I'd rather give them up. I've lost over 20 pounds this first week. -
What are you most anxious about/excited for?
ThreeCrows posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm not really that fearful of the surgery itself. I'm worried about: The surgery not "working"--I don't feel full, eat through my pouch, don't lose enough weight The drinking only apart from food. I can't imagine eating without a sip of Water. Excited for: Being able to walk into a normal store and buy clothes off the rack Being able to walk without huffing and puffing -
Help! Burping is out of control :/
ThreeCrows replied to vane1383's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I burp too, but not that long. Just a couple of burps after I eat. I think it's like a baby... You have to get that gas out somehow. I'd just go with it. -

Oh, Anaxilia, at least I'm not the only one. Today has just sucked I want to go to bed early, but I will also dream of food. -

That sounds great! I'm already starting to have "mouth hunger". I'm craving more substantial food than liquids. I can't wait for purées! -
Still on liquids for another week and a half... All this talk of puréed food is making me hungry!

Lying here eight hours post surgery...
ThreeCrows replied to ThreeCrows's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just got cleared to start liquids. Nothing yet, though, and my mouth is so dry. Just a little bit uncomfortable, no gas pain yet... Does that start after 24 hours? I've taken some morphine yesterday , but nothing this morning. So far, not nearly as bad as I anticipated. -
I'm ready to go, I think. I am nervous, mostly about the first couple weeks, but I've got my head around all the new lifestyle changes. I've been reading all the posts, and hope all of us January folks have fairly easy recoveries. My kids are going to their grandparents for a few days, and my husband seems all set up to help me out. I'm hoping to feel well enough by the weekend to play a lot of video games and watch old movies.

Yes.. Drink lots of fluids, take vitamin C and echinacea and those Zinc Cough drops wouldn't hurt. Good luck!

Excellent pic! Let us know how it goes!

Supplies for post surgery?
ThreeCrows replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is next Thursday... I bought a heating pad because many recommended it for post-op pain. Also, ordering a new scale! -
@@swimbikerun Yes! I'm still pre-op... Scheduled for the 15th. I'd be happy to meet up here in Williamsburg, or halfway. Do you have names?
-
I'm in Williamsburg... Anyone in this area ever plan a meetup?
