I can zip my boots all the way up and even have room to spare. May seem like a small thing to some, but it reassures me that this was the right decision for ME!!

Hi Solagirl:) YaY on your upcoming surgery:D I was in the hospital just one day. When I woke up I was very groggy, in and out and SO thirsty lol. They made sure I didn't hurt by giving me Morphine so pain was mild. They want you to walk as much as you can as soon as you feel up to it. I did that night. You will notice the restriction of your band as soon as you drink something. I know I did and my band is empty still. That night off of my dinner tray I ate a Popsicle. I was full lol. It's odd because it's a liquid once it melts but that tells you what kind swelling there is after surgery. I'm 6 days out and liquids do move through quicker now. But I still only can eat about 2-3oz of food. I reuse Jello cups to eat out of bc of the size. I can comfortable eat a half of a jello cup of food and be full. It's amazing:) I wasn't going to weigh yet but I couldn't resist. I've lost 6 more lbs since my surgery. So that's your proof it works:) I haven't even started exercising again yet either. Gonna heal completely first. My stomach healed pretty quickly. I am still pretty tender around my port site but its healing great to. Keep me informed on how it goes hun. You will be so proud you made the decision to be banded!!

Hi. I'm in AZ too. I didn't go through your surgeon, I went through True results in Scottsdale. I have read and learned so much from your doctor's web sites. Just read, read, and read. I personally like premier Protein shakes. I pick them up at costco or sam's club. The hardest part for me was the 2 week pre op diet. I don't know how I did it... but I did lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks. Good luck on your journey. I am still learning. I have had 5 fills so far... Just follow the rules as best as you can. Best wishes!

Breathe. Then call your NUT and ask for specifics. Stock your house with delicious cream Soups and liquids you are allowed. Clean the house. You won't want to deal with vacuuming post op. Take the time to write your post op self a letter now. Open it in a year. Write all the feelings you're having and why you're doing this. Write down every thing you want to do once you lose weight that you aren't able to do now. Most of all be be gentle with yourself. You've worked hard to get here and you deserve all the happiness that is coming your way. Stay connected here. Good luck!!!!

Read and stay connected here and ask ask ask the NUT and your surgeon every question you have. Write down the questions and the answers in a notebook. I also started going to three different hospital WLS support group meetings within fifty miles of my home. They each only met once a month and I needed more info and connection than that. Good luck!

Well I had my surgery yesterday. Everything went great and I am feel very good. Not much pain only a little tenderness around the incision areas. Have some discomfort in my should but they warned me of that. Anyway I am excited that I am now on the other side of surgery and feeling good.

Tonight is the company Christmas party. It's a formal affair at a local hotel with a cocktail hour, then dining and dancing. I have a little black dress, sexy shoes, bling on my clutch and bling for my accessories. I'm wearing the full length mink and I know I will be beautiful tonight.
How wonderful to look forward to something instead of fearing it because I'm the biggest person in the room, or because I can't find a chair to sit in because my knees are killing me.
For anyone struggling with holiday treats and temptations, think about how much better life is at a healthy weight instead of being overweight or obese. For me, it's easy to walk away from the buffet table especially when I can do it in kick-ass shoes and in no pain and with no cane.

I was banded yesterday (December 18th) and I have made it through night 1!
Thought I would post some tips and tricks that helped me have a successful and relatively comfortable surgical day.
If your surgeon calls in a prescription for you for pre and post-op meds, pick it up the day before, rather than waiting until the day of your surgery. With my surgery just 3 hours away and a 2-hour drive ahead of us to the Clinic, I almost melted down in the pharmacy when there were four other people ahead of me picking up prescriptions TAKING FOREVER! I could have gone the night before. Silly me. A pillow for the car-ride home. Placing a pillow between your tummy and the seatlbelt is a great idea to protect those tender incisions. For surgery day... bring along a tote bag with an extra pair of socks and undies, your I.D. and any medications you are currently taking (plus of course anything else your surgeon has instructed you to bring). You may wish to leave the bra behind (bliss!) as you almost certainly will not be wearing again to go home post-op. Set up your house/bed ahead of time BEFORE you go in for your procedure. This saves you time and makes things easier when you get home. Set up your bedroom with: Tons of pillows in your bed - you will very likely want to sleep in an upright position as the gas will be painful, and sitting up lessens the pain tremendously! A large sippy cup or spouted water bottle to sip sip sip sip sip Water out of through the night. No gulping! Your reading glasses (if used) within easy reach Your phone nearby (if you are addicted to staying connected with the outside world as I am) Your pain meds bottle right on hand, cap unscrewed (you don't want to be twisting with your tummy wounds. Yowch!) Gas-X dissolvable strips. These really, really helped. Kleenex for the tears (if there are any). I had a little cry due to tiredness and pain. Glad they were there. A night light. This is a great help to allowing you to see where you're going when you are woozy from the narcotics and need to pee. An extra warm and fuzzy blanket or comforter. I found I was prone to being cold and the extra warm layer helped. Your caregiver's 100% attention. Your surgery day and first night can be rough, so having someone to love you up and give you what you need is important. :-) Hope this is helpful!

Hi.... @flmommyof2 so excited about your surgery! Based on your profile it seems that we are starting off about the same; I am just taller lol. Did you have to do the prep and what was your pre-op like? Also, how about recovery time? When did you feel like going back to work?
    Thank you!

Hi everyone, hope you all are having a blessed day. I am 5 days post-op. Healing great. Still sore around my port site but that is expected. I have ALOT of restriction which is AMAZING! I already love my band so much. So happy I chose to have surgery and reclaim my life. Congrats to all of you as well who has made the decision. You will not regret it!

    HI Bob,

What is it that has you the most nervous/emotional? I do not know if you pray but it helps me and/or to say out loud what it is you are concerned about. Funny I am most nervous about the anesthesia. I have never had a problem with it but still.....My sister had lapband in November of last year and has lost over 100lbs. I am so proud of her....I never knew she could be so small....lol....But she still hates to exercise....some things don't change.
Monday I will be one month out for my surgery date. I am sure I will reach out to you for a pep-talk :-)
