First of all, congratulations on getting the band and losing 41 pounds! I joined this site a few days after getting my band in November of 2010, so I am almost five years banded. I haven't been on here in a long time becasue as one other post said, there was a lot of negativety and some mean posts. I just want to reassure you that if you follow your doctors directions, you should be just fine. I have had absolutley NO complications. The first year I saw my surgeon monthly, recieved small fills, and followed the rules. I lost 100 pound in 9 months and loved it. The only rule I didnt follow was exercising. Looking back, I wished I had. Through the second year I gained about 15 pounds, but was still happy with myself. I was fortunate and don't have much extra skin, but enough that I wanted to do something about it. So a couple months ago I started exercising on a Bowflex Max, and have dropped two pant sizes and 15 pounds. I just had another fill yesterday because, as I'm sure you know, as you lose weith the fat pad around your stomach shrinks and fills are needed. My ultimate goal is maybe ten more pounds, but if I don't lose another pound, I'd still be completely satisfied. Hang in there and stay positive! If you have any questions feel free to ask me! Good luck!

Opinions are like Navels everyone has one. Don't be afraid or concerned by the negative nellies on here. What they don't tell you sometimes is some of the failures of bands are their fault. Not All but if they were honest with themselves and you they might admit some failure on their part to follow the instructions. There are people on here and other sites everyday who talk about drinking soda, eating pizza, on and on then can't figure out why the band isn't working for them. So, they make it their mission to discourage and scare people away from the band. I think it's mean and I can never figure out the pay off for them. There are failures in every type of weight loss surgery. Sleeves and by pass patients have failures as well as bandsters. Stay Calm and talk to your Dr. Ask questions and my advice for now stay off of these sites.

Just weighed myself and I am 199 with a starting weight of 287. My lap band surgery was completed on January 15, 2014. I feel (and look-/LOL) amazing! I have energy and am accomplishing so many great things in my life. The lap band gave me a new lease on life. I'm loving ONE-derland. By the way I haven't even officially started exercising yet. Just moderate walking and so forth. I'm so proud. I'm 5'11 and 199 now so slowly getting out of that overweight stage lol

Wow! Right now your focus should be getting better not losing weight. Your overall health is essential for weight loss. Stay in bed if possible and drink plenty of fluids. Once you are feeling like your old self you can then get back to focusing on weight loss. Congratulations on what you have lost so far and continued success.

37lbs in roughly a month and 1/2 is AMAZING! You have to give your body time to catch up with itself. During the time that the scale isn't moving is when your body takes advantage of catching up with itself by losing inches. As long as you keep on making healthy food choices, getting in your Water, Protein and exercising the scale will start moving again, it has no other option. I know it's frustrating but hang in there you're doing great!!

Don't stress. Weight loss is not linear. You will stall...sometimes for weeks. You might gain as well at times. You just started your journey so focus on eating healthy, learning how to eat with your band, exercising, and focusing on the non scale victories. Good luck and keep us posted. I bet you will do fine.

The closest location is the one where I had my surgery and my Dr is the only one who does the fill. I pray that I've healed enough by Thursday to get the fill.

@sweetgagr100 I hope for your sake you get one as well. My Doc did tell me that he gave me my fill at that point because it was close to the Christmas break. He definitely made a point of scheduling my second about a month after that. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Perhaps when you go for your post-op you can ask if there is a location closer to you to get your regular fills. My surgeon only did the first fill and the others are peformed by nurses in his surgery.
    Good luck..

Yes, I had mine at 2.5 weeks post-op and I've just had my second fill at 8 weeks post-op. I didn't notice a lot of restriction with the first fill and I only have a slight increase after the second. I am scheduled for a third on 12 Feb.

This made me laugh out loud. It made me remember all of the puréeing I did in those first few weeks. You're right. It all looked like crap, but it was delicious.

Hang in there. It gets easier. I had six weeks of full liquids after LapBand. I just found the best Soups money could buy. Lost 50 pounds before my first fill at six weeks post op. You can do it!

I was banded on Oct 3, 2014 and for my first fill I was given 2cc as a "primer" and 6 weeks later I was given 1cc. Today I go for another fill and my doctor believes in slow steady fills to get you in that sweet spot (green zone) doing it to fast can actually be worse. I am also frustrated but I also realize its what is best for me. My doctor has a lot of success with his bands because of the way he does it. I also have my port in my chest (near my left armpit) and not my stomach so it makes fills so much easier. Hang in there.
