Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Dee951 replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good morning all! I was sleeved Jan 28, 2015. I have dropped 77 lbs and I am stalled. I go up and down 4lbs and it's driving me crazy! I went to my one year follow up and the nurse said "you haven't lost much weight but lots of inches." I felt even worse and I thought that was insensitive for her to say. Here I am already annoyed with my stall and she just added to my anxiety. I don't know what to do. I just find myself being more self conscious about every thing. -
Finally I can actually see a difference...

CONGRATS TO YOU!!!! You look fabulous!!!! I am not big on pictures and that is something I need to get over if not for me then for my kids. I have taken a few lately but I really wish I had measured my self before surgery. You are an inspiration! thank you so much for sharing! -
@@jenkbacon I am 6 weeks out and returned to work after 4 weeks. I got some of the same reactions. "wow you look great!" or "you dont look sickly at all!" (from friends at work) or "have you lost weight??" and my all time favorite "how do you feel?" Its like they expect me to look and feel like I am on my death bed or something. I feel great no doubt but are they wishing I had complications??? I had one co-worker tell me that I am wearing my clothes big on purpose. Really??? I am not running out to buy new clothes just one month after surgery. I am wearing my regular work clothes for now. And absolutely I get the questions 'what are you doing?" "what are you eating?" I dont know if it's because I work in the medical field and diet seems to always be the topic around there or what. Maybe its different in a regular work environment. For now I enjoy the compliments, but hoping that soon the spotlight fades.

@@thesuse2000 I am glad to see you mentioned prepared foods. I am assuming you mean like lean cusinie and stuff like that. I was wondering if they were ok to eat. I was thinking along the lines of them being processed foods and I should be cooking more fresh meals. But that would make my work lunchs alittle easier if I did the prepared foods and cut the temptation of fast food salads and so on.

Has any one heard of or tried cloud bread? I found it on Pinterest and if says low carb or no carbs depending on which recipe you click on. I was just wondering how it taste. -
Post-op Day 3 - So Much Gas

Walking helps. Don't rush it with the drinking. Small sips. Walking and a heating pad helped with my bloating. The belching is weird isn't it? I have never burped so much in my life. -
Can't eat fish
Dee951 replied to MS_Science_Sleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 weeks out on soft foods which allows fish as my only meat selection. However I am about to go crazy. I don't know if its a lack of a creative mind or what, but I am to the point where I do not want to see fish ever again. I have one more week before I see m surgeon to advance to the next stage. chicken, veggies and so on. Tuna salad taste horrible to me now. I have baked, broiled, grilled fish. I even tried it fried (lightly breaded). Just the thought of fish makes me want to gag now. I know I need to eat but it's to the point where i don't want to. -

Started my Kaiser class again today..YAY!
Dee951 replied to Dualstarr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought the gummy mutli-vitamins in Costco/Sams club. Vitafusion is the brand. I bought the Multivitamin, calcuim and Vitamin c. They are all gummies. Even my sons started taking them lol. During the classes they did our labs and I found out I was Vitamin D deficient so I started taking a supplement for that to, but since surgery I found a liquid vitamin d to take. -

Getting tired of vanilla and chocolate flavored protein shakes. And tips on how to switch it up or add something to them? -
My surgeon actually gave me a card to show when I go out. It says that I have had a surgical procedure that limits my consumption to 1/10 of an adult meal and basically ask the to reduce the price of my meal to senior or child's meal. Not sure if all restaurants will honor it. I'm two weeks out and tonight is the first night I will go out to eat. I plan to have soup but curious to see how I will do

Thanks @@BLERDgirl! I think I'm going to make an appt with a nutritionist. Just walking for now but as soon as I'm cleared back to the gym. I asked if I could swim but my surgeon said not yet :-/ it's ok I'm in it to win it! -

@@BLERDgirl I don't have a nutritionist. Before surgery I took the required classes by Kaiser which went over what to expect and so on. It was taught by a nutritionist but nothing one on one. I can make an appt with her. But I was losing on my own by modifying my diet, increasing my water and protein shakes. Once I met the surgeon he put me on high protein no starch. So at that point I just cut out all carbs basically and continued to lose. Yes I read labels and so on but honestly I'm not good at tracking. Even doing weight watchers after so many weeks the tracking part fell off. I guess I need a nutritionist....at this point I'm following what my surgeon says on the haves and have nots. Im totally open to someone giving me the do's and dont's -

How much walking can I do? 1 wk post-op
Dee951 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a week out and I know I can not hit the gym yet. I have read and been told walk, walk, walk. Then I get the lecture "you just had major surgery you should be taking it easy and recovering." How much is to much walking at this point? I'm a workaholic and sitting at home is starting to get to me. So any activity is a joy but I don't want to over do it either. Any advice? -

OMG so glad I'm not alone. I started 1 day post-op. My periods are usually like spotting but it was so heavy this time. I'm praying that was just surgery related. I guess I have to wait until next month.

how long is it taking you to drink
Dee951 replied to boosh10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a week out and it's getting better every day. First couple of days I had no desire to drink at all. Thank goodness for IVs! I'm not dehydrated but I know that I am not reaching the amount of ounces my dr recommends. One day at a time and just keep on sipping. -
Bread and Biscuits post op
Dee951 replied to Karenlrn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a little over a week post op and I would love veggies! I would love veggies with my fish that I was just cleared to eat. After my first consultation with the surgeon he was very strict on no bread, pasta, rice, potatoes and so on that I was starting to get use to no bread and so on. So I think I can wait on the bread, toast and all that. It kind of annoyed me that mashed potatoes are on my soft foods list I worked so had to say no lol. I love how some people say in moderation! That's the key to this retraining ourselves to make better choices and even if you do mess up alittle remember moderation. -
I was having an issue like that. My bra is above one of my incisions. After a while I have to readjust my bra. I was thinking the same thing about getting a sports bra.
