My main abdominal incision popped a bit and was oozing red and yellow discharge. I went to see my PCP and surgeon about it. Both said everything was okay, that when this happens the wound has to heal from the inside out. It just takes a longer time to fully heal. But you should go to your doctor just to make sure everything is okay.

I was told I could swallow any pill smaller than a MM, no need to crush. So I have using the same ferrous sulfate since I was pre-op.

Most gummy vitamins adult or children lack a lot minerals. I used adult Centrum chewables or two childrens complete chewables.

I was sleeved on 6/17. My HW 331, SW 294 and CW 269, so I lost post-op 25lbs and a total of 62lbs. I was in a stall for about three weeks. I saw my surgeon last week, he advised to give away my scale. He told that some people lose inches before they lose weight and for others its the opposite and not to get obsessed with the numbers. That as long as I follow the plan, I should lose weight. Obviously I haven't lost the scale yet but I'm trying to weigh myself less often. I have been walking at least 5x/week, either outside or on my treadmill.
I was cleared to start eating regular solid foods now. I trying to wean myself off of Protein shakes, to see how I can get all my Protein through food alone. I tried eggs, hambugers and deli meats without a problem. No nausea or vomiting. I'm adding tuna and lean ground turkey this week to see how those go.
Regarding the dryness of meats, for me the no drinking and eating thing becomes a problem. I'm stuck with a dry mouth for 30 minutes.

While every surgeon is different, I had five incisions and dermabond was placed over them. My instructions were not to scrub them when I bathed, basically to leave them alone. At five weeks post-op all of my scabs have come off. My only problem was one week post-op I popped the main incision a little, so I had a oozing opening that finally has healed.
Yes there is some scarring but I'm too soon to know if they'll fade some. The main incision is the biggest but its less than one inch.

I was sleeved on 6/17/15. I was 294lbs on the day of surgery and have lost 16lbs. I gained 10 lbs after surgery but lost that in a few days. Currently I'm at the dreaded week three stall. I started the puree/soft stage on Monday after being on a all liquid diet for two weeks. I stay on this stage for three weeks. I've been meeting my 60g Protein goal and drinking least 60 oz of Water.
I started walking on a treadmill for thirty minutes to help me get out of this stall. I'm going to continue with my surgeon/NUT plan and try not to get to anxious but I'm a worrywart by nature so its hard.

Congratulations!

I gained 10 pounds after surgery and lost it a few days later, try not to weigh yourself right now. Congratulations and best of luck.

Do you floss or use a powered toothbrush? Plaque is going to build everyday regardless of what we are eating (or drinking) and when left on the teeth it hardens to forms tartar. Once tartar forms the only way to really get it all off is to go to the dentist. Try to start flossing daily in an up&down motion(not back and forth), you may have some bleeding if you don't regularly floss. Continue flossing daily and the bleeding should resolve. Or you can try investing in an Oral-B or Sonicare toothbrush( the basic models are fine). Hope this helps some.

I have done great since June 17 but now my wait has plateaued and I am feeling weak. I do hope this passes.
Sorry, my weight. : ).
I was sleeved the same day and I also plateaued. I'm trying to stay positive and stick to my diet(still on liquids).

I was sleeved on 6/17. My plan is to drink two Protein shakes daily, i'm using Premier Protein. Besides that I have homemade chicken broth(5 oz) usually for dinner. I just sip all day long. I also drink Decaf tea/coffee, Vitamin Water zero, sugar-free popsicles and Water. My goal is at least 48oz. I'v made that goal most days.

I'm finally home. I stayed an extra day because of pain and inability to tolerate liquids. I had a much better day so the surgeon let me go home.

I was sleeved this morning. Still in the hospital. I am not in a lot of pain but I push the morphine button regularly. If all goes well I should be discharged tomorrow. Best of luck.

Tomorrow is the big day for me. The nerves are definitely there. But glad the wait is almost over. I'm checking in at 9:30am. Oh my goodness. Is anyone else going in tomorrow?
Tomorrow is my day too. I check in at 8:00am. Best of luck.

My nutritionist recommended I could use regular chewable supplements just not Gummy version because those lack certain minerals. I'm using chewable Centrum and Caltrate chewable. My nutritionist is okay with those. The most important thing about buying Vitamins is to read the label, theres a "bariatric" Vitamin sold at Walgreens that requires 4 pills/day to get the recommended daily doses.
As for Protein shakes if you like the taste of Premier Protein, the best price I found is costco online. They sell a double case of 36 for $49.99. its free shipping and you don't have to be a member to order (I had to pay a surcharge of $7.50). If you want to use a powder, i suggest you to try buy a sample first, you don't want to buy a huge tub and realize that you don't like the taste.. Hope this helps. Best of luck

My surgery is on June 17th. I started the pre-op diet on Wednesday and had my pre-op appointment with the hospital yesterday. I had two options for my pre-op diet: five Proteins shakes a day or three shakes a day and sensible dinner. No butter, oils. I can eat raw vegetables. I trying to do the five shakes a day but its hard. Best of luck

Does anyone remember when Lane Bryant decided to introduce vanity sizes in their jeans collection? The only thing I ever bought at that store was a pair of jeans and when I went back to get another pair, they had a new sizing system. The sizes went from 1-10 but they didn't sell size ten in stores and a shape system: triangle, circle and square based on how your pants fit. The best part was that to determine your new size a salesperson would take a measuring tape and measure you in the aisle right in front of everyone. I was a size ten so I left never to return.
They must have received a lot of negative feedback because they have gone back to standard sizes. I have no idea how someone thought this would be a good idea.

Search Harvard Pilgrim bariatric surgery and the policy should be one of first links (its a pdf file). One comorbidity is
Severe, weight-bearing back or joint disease evaluated by an orthopedic or neurosurgeon
so you maybe eligible for surgery. Hope this helps, best of luck

My date is June 17th. Just need my clearance from PCP. Start my pre-op diet next Wednesday. I'm terrified. Best of luck everybody.

Met with the surgeon on Tuesday and he told I've been approved. Just need a clearance from PCP and a new cardiac clearance. Hopefully everything stays on track to still have surgery in June. He also warned that I can't gain any weight, or he won't do the surgery. So I decided to start the pre-op diet. Best of luck.

I have United Healthcare Community plan (medicaid) from NY. I found this policy during my research last year. Unless there has been a change, the requirements are six months, pysch eval, BMI >40 or >35 with comorbidities.
