I wouldn't stop. LOL I'm kidding!! I nursed my daughter until she was almost 2. But that was many years ago I want a baby!! I wish I had more information on this. Good Luck

Welcome to WLS!! It really is the pits for sure. I have heard some say that they take a bite lay their fork down and chew chew and then chew some more. I never had many problems with chewing enough because, don't laugh but you hear of the weird people hat count. That would be me!! I count chews, steps, crosswalk lines and I even count how many strokes I brush my teeth too. I know I am weird but that is me!! As for the PAPAYA ENZYMES I believe in them totally, I am 4 and 1/2 years out from my RNY and I keep them with me all the time, in my purse etc. They literally feels like they have saved my life. Lol Hang in there it is all worth it! KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!

I'm 4 and 1/2 years out and I have had wine. Be aware it hits pretty fast!!! But the buzz goes fast too. I was notice I said was!! A COORS light BEER drinker but...I don't do carbonation still to this day. Call me a chicken its ok I call myself a chicken too. One day I was down town with my daughter and grandson...who NEVER drinks after anyone!! I had a killer head ache so I ask him if I could use his Moutain Dew to take Tylenol with. I barely wet my tongue just enough to get er down and my stomach hurt like well you know what I am talking about. That was enough for me!! It set my stomach on fire and I felt so bloated, not worth it at all!! But I would say we all pick and choose what we want and what we don't. You are a grown up and you can make your own decisions. Good Luck on your continued journey!!

Rigorous Pre-Op Eating Plan/Diet
shedo82773 replied to BabettesFeast's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my RNY July 2, 2013. My Preop was Prtein drinks for 2 weeks and Postop 4 weeks of Protein drinks. To be honest I was so ready to stop my merry go round I really didn't have a hard time either pre or post. I was honestly afraid not to follow my guidelines because I didn't want him to decide not to do my surgery. postop I was terrified I would do something that would undo it. I am so glad m mind was at this setting. Good Luck -
Struggling with aversion
shedo82773 replied to Real California April's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yes, I did develope an aversion to food. But mine began when I had Strictures. I ended up having 5 endoscopes with 4 dialations. Which started around my 3 week out from my RNY. I had my Rny on July 2, 2013. I had my first Endo in Nov, again in Dec, Jan 2014, July 2014 with my last done in Janof 2015. So I was afraid to eat or drink because I vomited so much. I could only keep Oatmeal, some protein drinks, cheese, some crackers and of all thing Cheetos. My Dr didn't say much about what I ate. He told me he didn't care if I ate Oatmeal 10 times a day I needed to get protein in. I did go for counceling but the 1st one didn't know how t deal with weight loss peeps at all. The Bariatric Nutrionist told me to eat every 1/2 hour I was awake, that set my anxiety thru the roof. It will get better, you have to work thru this. Your body needs everything you can give it to heal. You need protein to heal and get enough fluids in too. It doesn't take long to dehydrate. Good Luck KEEP ON KEEPING ON!! -
Mexico Bariatric Center, Tijuana
shedo82773 replied to itsme18's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
WOW!! My hubby went to Jurez, Mexico and we found it not to be what we had beem told and even sent us a viedo which wasn't even close to what they advertised. I thought we had it bad, but I think you beat us out of all the GLORY of having our surgery in Mexico. Now I have heard good things about Bariatricpal WLS faculity. But Juarez not so much either. We had to pay $50.00 cash for his pain meds which they were just a joke. luckily he didn't need them because it would have been way sad to deal with pain. LOL I'm sorry you have had such a hard time also. But wait I forgot this one...my hubby had a cyst on his chest when he went in for his WLS. While he was out (night night time) someone had squeezed it until it looked infected!! We took him to a dermatoligist when we got home and they thought he had MERSA from the hospital. None of the nurses ever washed their hands or used hand santizer!! Scary stuff!! Luckily it wasn't MERSA just infected!! I say JUST but it was a huge deal!! Just glad everything turned out for us all. Again sorry for you and all that u went thru. Have a great day. -
TOTALLY AGREE FluffyChix. To many times I have heard about this diet and that diet someone just wanting to help!! I am a reformed smokeer and I have been known to speak up about how I hate them now. People that are any of these things have their feelings on their sleeve. I know how I felt hearing that there is a new diet that works yada yada. My own grandpa said, Shirley (he never used my name of Sherrie) if you want to lose your weight, just push yourself away from the table!! I was hurt. I never felt to close to him before due to him not being in our lives but after he said that I avoided him!! So just be careful when you think you are helping them, they may not want or need to hear what you are saying!!

I am glad you are feeling better. When that happens you do feel like you are having a heart attack. I sweat get dizzy and feel like I am going to throw up. I'm over 4 years out and you would think I would learn my lesson!! LOL Also, I never know what will do it sometimes. LOL Have a great one!!

Dumping does feel like that and it isn't just from sugar. It also can be from fat. If you are really worried call your Dr. Just to be safe. Sorry this is happening. Take care

Anyone buy vitamins in Mexico?
shedo82773 replied to webdwarf40's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I check out the store here on this site. But I get the best deal on Amazon. -
I had my gallbladder removed in 1980. I had a full insision accross my upper right side. I did great with healing in fact when I wasn't even out of surgery for a week and we moved from Nevada to Idaho. I had no problems with healing etc. Now they do the surgery laparoscopically so it really should be easier. I don't know if you have been having pain with yours but...for me it was a blessing when it was gone. Good Luck

Most Dr's recommend that you don't drink soda. I think it isn't good all around. I didn't miss it at first but...watching my hubby drink his diet Root Beer and watching those coke commercials I kind of drool. LOl But I haven't had not 1 sip since before my RNY. Over 4 years. I have found drinks that aren't made with carbonation. For me it isn't that important. I drink Diet Citrus Tea and diet Snapple.

Second Thoughts......
shedo82773 replied to karak817's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Only you can decide if you should have WLS. Just know that WLS is a tool. You still need to work with it. Sorry you are having so many doubts. Good Luck in whatever you decide. -
Congratulations!! Hang tight you are getting ready to start a wonderful JOURNEY!! Take care of YOU!!

Hang tight you are still early out. I was one of the lucky ones I averaged 20#'s a month. But....I also couldn't eat much. I had strictures and couldn't hold down much food or even water. It started right after my 3 or 4th week. I had my RNY in July and had my first endo in Nov. You are doing very well. Keep your yes on the prize and KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!

Weight loss surgery - eating disorder
shedo82773 replied to z0nk3y's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It can be overwhelming. We have focus on what we are eating, drinking and exercise too. I had my surgery over 4 years ago. I had some problems with strictures and I had 5 endoscopes with 4 dilation I actually couldn't even hold water down. So I really had a problem with food. I was very limited in what I could eat or drink. I developed an aversion to food. I started counseling with a local counselor, she tried but she didn't have a clue. Finally, my Surgeon and his nurse became concerned enough about my weight loss that he set me up with a Bariatric Counselor. She told me that I needed to eat every 1/2 hour and drink Boost for snacks. Now, a person that has fought so hard to lose her weight does not want to hear this. I told my hubby that I refused to trade one eating disorder for the other. I just could not justify that!! So yes we do live our new lifestyle and adjusting to what ever we have to. Listen to your Dr when he says get your weight loss within your honeymoon phase. Hang in there!! Take care of you!! -
Kakalady612, I can totally relate. LOL I have never had much of a butt and my legs are pretty skinny. But...even with losing 124#'s and having a Panni (which 10 plus #'s were removed) My weight is still in my stomach. I have wished my whole life that I could have been built like a woman is supposed to be. I'm built like a man with a pot belly. Oh well, I guess we get what we get!! Right

WOW!! Those darn ENDOSCOPES. I had to have 5 ENDOS with 4 dilations. It started right after my RNY. My PA wanted to have one done 4 weeks after. But I was afraid that it would mess up my weight loss. (silly I know) so I had my first one was Nov 2013, then Dec 2013, Jan 2014, July 2014 and my last one was Jan of 2015. They were a hassle but an easy fix. I was just like you I couldn't even get water down, I have a sleeping pill at night and I even threw it up whole the next morning. Just be sure and get as many fluids that you can. It doesn't take long for us to get dehydrated. Good Luck

I know that the Vitamin stuff is really hard to figure out because the Medical Community is not always on the same page. But...with that said, one of the things my Surgeon really stressed that using a BARIATRIC Vitamins are the best way to get what we need after our WLS. With that said, I figured that I wanted to take whatever I need to be healthy. I use CELEBRATE Multivitamins. They are something I feel that I don't want to take chances with. They aren't that expensive I don't think. I also use Capsules and my DR told me if they were too large to swallow that I could open them and put them in food. Applesauce, yogurt or oatmeal. They weren't too large for me. I did use Centrum chewable right after my RNY, but they were way t sweet for me. Just like was said, think of the price as an investment towards your health. Good Luck. Have a great evening.

Medicare Lapband Revision Denials Low BMI
shedo82773 replied to SKF's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Like was said above, have your Surgeon's office do the dealing with your insurance. They should know how to code it in a way to get it approved. The one who does their approval letter should know exactly what to do. I am also on MEDICARE and it was kind of scary when they have you sign a contract that you will be responsible if MEDICARE doesn't pay. I do know that Medicare pays the Surgeon a blanket amount for the beginning of your surgery until you are well. Thankfully everything worked out for me. -
Why do protein drinks taste awful?
shedo82773 replied to Véronique's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
They argue that GENEPRO doesn't have the amount of protein they advertise. They say that the Company has lawsuits against them and they lost the last case. I ask them why even BARIATRIC STORE sells it, they are a huge company and you would think they stand behind this product. I just wanted to let u know. I will always use GENEPRO. It's the best I have found for myself. So now u know if u get pounced on. Lol -
"He didn't Have surgery".... rant
shedo82773 replied to BrandiceLeSha's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well said peeps!! I have my nails done by this young lady, her family consists of 2 boys and a girl plus her hubby. The very 1st time I went to her she commented that she had lost "HER" weight without WLS> It almost made e want to go to someone else, then I thought I can tell her everything that I have been thru and maybe she will become educated about WLS. So I stayed...and I talked to her about WLS. I really don't know if she gets it but I told her the plain truth how we all know this is NOT THE EASY way out!! We still talk about weight and she every once and awhile she has to remind me all of her exercise programs. just like us all. But guess what she is struggling too. I have a very hard time when I hear people say it is the easy way out. Even my hubby has said this (and he had a Sleeve) now he knows better to say it to me. ONWARD WARRIORS!! We have GOT THIS!! -
Do you like "Food Police" in your life? - Yes or No
shedo82773 replied to Polly Pocket's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
THAT has NEVER worked for me!! I also get angry and it will make me want the bad stuff all the more!! I don't need anyone telling me what I can or cannot eat or drink!!! I don't find it helpful at all! I have spent my life with others looking and telling me what and how to diet and eat!! Nothing makes me madder than someone commenting on what and how much I am eating!!
