  1. Oh, believe me, we did get some of our money back!!!! what happened is we paid for the RNY (which cost more) so when they could only do the Sleeve we did get some money back but not what we were told because they said because his surgery was difficult it cost more. I had not 1 nurse that spoke English!! I tried to get him some meds for vomiting and I even acted it out for them but no help there. I'm more than happy that we paved the way for you to have a better experience. LOL I need some skin surgery's but I am staying in the STATES if I ever get any skin removal. LOL The $50 wasn't a surprise I was just saying they were not strong enough at all. Oh well like THE BAMBOO ON THE LION KING SAYS, Wham, it is in the past!!! Right LOL
  2. One thing we have found is ""OTHER BARIATRIC CENTERS" do accept Bariatric People. I actually fired my Surgeon but before I did I made sure that OHSU (OREGON HEALTH AND SCIENCE UNIVERSITY) I love the care I have had. Don't dispare it might be hard but it will work out. Good Afternoon WL PEEPS!!
  3. WOW!! My hubby had his Surgery there and it wasn't a good thing!! We also went thru BELITE, Our coordinator was Sylvia she talked about other patients to us. She didn't seem to know or remember who she was talking about. It was horrible!! We were promised a suite we got a room with barely anything in there which was no problem. The TV was all in Spanish!! The nurses didn't wash their hands or use hand sanitizer. They removed his IV with bare hands. The language was definitely hard. We didn't get release pages. He paid for the RNY but his whole right side was solid scar tissue so he ended up with a SLEEVE. We had to bring our own washcloths from home. Hey, I'm sorry but happy that you had a great experience. We had to pay $50 for pain meds, it's a good thing he didn't need them because they didn't work as good as Tylenol. We wouldn't go back!!! So glad that you had better care and a positive experience.
  4. Like you said, Different strokes for different folks!! Because I had the RNY I definitely don't want to take any chances. I don't know which surgery Micky701 is having but I think we covered all bases.

    Hospital infection!

Sorry!! Be sure to take all of your antibiotics. You sure don't want to cause super bugs. Get well soon!!n Take care of YOU!!
  6. The "FLINTSTONE VITAMIN taste horrible!! When I went to my New Bariatric Center, which I had been going to my Surgeon's office, anyhow the new Dr. told me to take 2 flintstone vitamins plus iron. MAN O MIGHTY those are yucky to say the least. I have used CELEBRATE mostly every since I had my RNY. I buy the capsules and I was told by my DR if they are to big to swallow you can open them and sprinkle it on whatever you want. But I have not had any problems with swallowing them. I figure that I went thru major surgery and I need the Bariatric vitamins I have seen past WLS peeps (like 30 years ago) who are having bad things going on because they didn't use the vitamins that were needed. I don't want to make any mistakes. It might take years before you notice something is wrong. Make sure to get all of your blood work done. It is so important. Have a great day!!
  7. Hi, I just typed a whole paragraph and lost it. BOMB gone. So here I go again. I had my RNY July 2, 2013. I lost my weight in 6 months (I weigh between 125-130) I have maintained my loss for 3 and 1/2 years. Because I had a few problems with Strictures and my hubby's failed revision from his Lap Band to a RNY. Which he almost died. He developed abscesses. He was so sick for 9 months and 3 of them he doesn't remember. So Tersigni called us "PROBLEM KIDS"! He actually dropped my hubby wouldn't see him. We are so thankful that our PCP pulled in a favor with a Surgeon here in Roseburg. He put in a wound vac and he immediately started getting better. The whole ordeal was awful. I now go to OREGON SCIENCE AND HEALTH UNIVERSITY. For everything. My hubby finally a year ago this June went to Juarez, Mexico. He ended up getting a Sleeve. But his heart and mine really wish he could have had his RNY. The weight is coming off so much slower than mine did. But...at least he lost enough to have his (kidney cancer) procedure done. Life is great!! BTW I live in Roseburg, Oregon. Which isn't but 90 miles from l us. How do you like living in California? We lived there for awhile (Ukiah) but...Oregon is just our home. It is exciting to meet someone that also had the same DR. Plus our journey has been real close. I had mine in July 2013 and yours was July 2013 also. Yes, this is a very small world. I would love to keep in touch with you. I will give you my email ifyou are interested just let me know. Have a wonderful day!!

    Panniculectomy

I was cleared for the Panni. I found out after it was done that I could have paid for the extra surgery. I would recommend that you research it all. I didn't know I had options. My Panni ended up costing my insurance $39,000 due to them giving me a muscle relaxant. So check everything out before you do anything. Just a heads up. Have a great Sunday.

    Panniculectomy

They really don't make more money. I feel like this is why our insurance charge so much!! I have heard that most insureance will not cover a TT. If you have an issue with skin after weight loss, they would be more apt to cover it. I documented all of my issues with my PCP, Dermatologist and my Surgeon. Also, copies of my medication that was prescribed to me. My Surgeon's office submitted all of the forms and it was approved. When you submit your records have the insurance pepole submit because they know exactly what the want to get things approved. Good Luck

    Panniculectomy

I had my Panni done 2 years ago. I don't have pictures but I can tell you I am not happy with it at all. Well, I am glad my fat and skin gone. They removed 10plus #'s. He didn't do what he had told me he would and immediately I ask him about my upper stomach, he told me it would go down that it was just swelling. I kept asking him over and over again but to do more it won't be with him!!!t he never gave me an anwser until my next to last app. I canceled my last one. He did finally say that I was blessed with not only my lower stomach but I also have mu upper stomach and said I was just blessed!! I call it a bunch of BS.Then he went on to say I would need LIPO and he would give me a good deal. He would do a breast lift (we had talked about it) and the LIPO for $6,000, I feel like he didn't do what he was supposed to and he was drumming up business for himself. We had talked about dog ears I didn't want them!! Well, I have them on both sides!! If I would have known that I could have paid the extra I sure would have done it. My suggestion is this "DON'T just do the Panni. I don't know how you are built but now I have my upper stomach that needs more tender loving care and when and if I ever make up my mind

    Body Fortress

I haven't used that one. But I did like ATKINS, Rich, and Dark Chocolate MYOPLEX. But a good nonflavored protein is GENEPRO. You can mix it with anything you want to, I put it in my Espresso every day. It is a good nonflavored protein, in fact, it is the only one that I have tried that didn't have any flavor at all. Good Luck.

    Day two after my MGB

I have found this stuff for my gas and digestion. It is PAPAYA ENZYMES. It works better than the gas strips by far. Of course, please check with your DR or Team before you use them. I am 4 years out and I have used them since my RNY. Another perk is they are 100% natural and you can buy them at WALMART for less than 4$. Good luck Keep us posted about your Journey.

To eat daily, or not to eat...EGGS!

I still think we have grown soft. People today aren't working as hard as before. Yes, I also think it stems from the manufacturer foods. We just keep getting farther out from eating GOOD FOR US foods. Our society not everyone but still enough of us don't have the luxury of doing all of our own bottom line GREAT FOODS that we know what is in it.

To eat daily, or not to eat...EGGS!

I only wish I could eat them. My Dr explained it this way...I don't have an allergy to them because they don't cause hives or breathing problems. But I have an aversion to them. I haven't been able to eat them even before my RNY, unless I wanted to get sick to my tummy bad. Like I said I wish I could eat them because they have so much protein. Have a great day.

To eat daily, or not to eat...EGGS!

Maybe they worked harder also. I know in the older days they worked so hard in their fields kitchen and all. I proablly would have still be fat. Just my luck. LOL
  16. I have faith that you can do this!! You know why? Because you already did it!!! Reach out to all of us we will be there for you!! All the way along. Above all: KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!
  17. Welcome to our world or I should say my world. I am 4 years out and I still do exactly that. My body doesn't seem to know that 1 more bite might be too much!! LOL I have started eating way too fast. I don't enjoy eating and sometimes it feels like a hassle. If you slow down and chew chew and you still have this going on you might want to tell your DR. Strictures are the pits but they really are an easy fix. They just do a Endoscope with a Balloon to open it back up. They are somewhat like scar tissue and close off your stoma food and the water felt like the food just sat on top of my tummy. I'm happy things are going so well for you!!

    Opioid Malabsorption

MAN O MIGHTY!! Now I need to vent!!! I called my Dr. for my refill of Patches, Now mind you I have been on these Patches for 10years. My Dr retired 6 months ago. So I had to find another DR. t isn't easy to find a DR that wants to treat Fibro and prescribe my Patches. So I have been going to this new one for the last 6 months. So they called yesterday evening to tell me it is ready. Now every time my hubby or I pick it up we have to show our ID. So they ask me yesterday who would be in, I said my hubby and he knows to bring ID. She said we need you to come in. Well, I told my hubby that they were going to tell me that I wouldn't get them anymore. Now, remember I said 6 months with her, they made me take a drug test!! When I ask if this would be every month, the nurse said oh no we only require 1 every 6 months. I HAVE HAD 5. This is getting ridiculous!!! If I do say. It's not like I have anything to hide. I think they think I am a drug seeking drug addict. I am so sick of this crap!!! I told my man that I am tempted to tell her to stop giving it to me and put me on the one that she said is so much better than the Patches. She said its proven that the patch doesn't work I beg to differ. OK I'm done!! I hope you have better luck than me. Hang in there

    Opioid Malabsorption

Truthfully mine has improved some what. All of the DR.'s that I have been to keep saying exercise!! Well, it does definitely help!! I am here to tell you I was in constant pain with very little relief. Now since my RNY and using the Fentynol patches I am able to walk 3 to 4 times a week and do 3 to 4 miles. Like I was saying above I haven't found any relief from the pain with other opiates. Like Methadone, Marinol (prescription THC in pill form) Smoking pot, this may have helped but I get the munchies so bad I could eat the wallpaper off the walls. Which is kind of not helping the weight problems I had!! Vicodine was another we tried. But the best results came when I lost 124#'s and used the patches. The funny thing was I never had any kind of feeling from the 50 I am on. I tried 100's and man o mighty did I feel funny. I didn't care for that for sure. People think I use the meds for a high I can tell you I would rather not take any medications!! I feel like they are actual poisons. So I'm sorry that I wrote a book but I get a little excited about being told I am a drug seeker. Most of the DR.'s treat me like I just want to get high!! I would much rather be pain-free, be able to do more with my grandchildren and live out the rest of my life peaceful and pain-free. Good Luck on your WLS. I hope you get great results too.

    Opioid Malabsorption

Hi, I haven't seen your post and just found it. But...I also am on opiates for arthritis and Fibromyalgia I had my RNY July but I have been lucky because I use the Fentanyl Patches. I have been accused of being a drug seeking person. I was on Methadone for many years but it actually did severe mental Cognitive damage. I haven't had them for around 10 years. But my mind will never be as sharp again. When I was out of my head my hubby thought I hadn't taken my medication and I was in mega pain, he thought he was helping me but I eventually had too much. I was rushed to the ER, where a country hick DR said and wrote it on my papers that I was a drug abuser!! I literally hated that, I know I didn't abuse anything but it still feels like I did something wrong. Now I had to change Dr's and my new one has warned me that our STATE FDA is trying to stop us from getting the patches!! Every time I see her she does a UA and tells me that she doesn't know how much longer I will be able to use them. When I ask her what would I be own? She tells me that they don't work for my illness. I can tell her 100% that it does!! The difference in before and after is like DAY AND NIGHT!!! Maybe the patches would help you too. KUDOS and HUGS Hang in there.

    Go Light Bariatrics

I know of quite a few Bariatric people that their DR's usually suggest they have it removed because it does seem to go bad with the fast weight loss. In fact, my hubby's DR. that put his Lap Band in started him on a medication to help prevent his Gallbladder from going bad. It didn't work to good. I had already had mine out years ago so I didn't need to have mine removed. Been there done that!!!

    Vitamins!

Yeppers I agree about the convenience, I don't mind paying a little more either. I did do some comparing and as I thought Amazon is cheaper. So I will just stay with what I know. But thank you for posting the info. I have points from BARIATRICPAL hat I haven't used yet. I guess I should figure it out. LOL

    Go Light Bariatrics

We haven't had any experience with GO LIGHT or the DR. But my hubby had his gallbladder removed during his failed revision from Lap Band to a RNY. He didn't have any problems. But now with his Sleeve he gets the BACK DOOR TROTS constantly. I'm sure the gallbladder being removed has something to do with that because almost every woman in my family have had theirs removed and it is the same for us all. But...the SLEEVE also has the same effect if he eats to much fat or to much sugar. Are you getting your gallbladder taken out? Having gallbladder trouble is real common with WL peple. Good Luck!!
  24. I just did that test that Barry78 posted according to it I am 4#'s below my goal weight. I like that. I can not remember a time when I was under weight. LOL Granted it is only 4#'s but I will take it.
