Water and Protein
Jenngf5 replied to ShrinkingEbony's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you really sipping? Using 1oz med cups? I used those for the first 3-5 days religiously and sipped from that. If I took anything in to fast I got the pain in my chest. Now it happens with food(almost three weeks out) Good luck. -
3 weeks out of surgery and plateauing.
Jenngf5 replied to Tlicous51's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
3 1/2 weeks and 45 lbs! Say it out loud and pat yourself on the back and do a jumping jack! That's huge! Congrats. I'm at 2 1/2 weeks and at this stall. Started to go to gym to walk n bike for am hr and it seems to be helping. But I'm not worried and only like 13lbs down post op (1-19). Seems like it's normal. And I still weigh myself everyday but it motivates me to walk and get in my Protein and fluids. Good luck!! -
Water and Protein

8 weeks and 30lbs! Congrats. Yes congrats! You need to be proud of that. I'm at the dreaded two/three week stall and hope to hit 30 by the eight week mark! I've never been able to drink plain water. Briefly after surgery cuz I was so dang thirsty but not without mio or something. Fluids for me are Soup, sf Jello is my friend, Popsicles, Luke warm vanilla roobios tea (tazo) and flavored water. It's an alllll day affair though to get it all in. My protein is mainly still from 1 scoop of whey tech protein with 4oz of water. 24g and only one sugar. First thing in AM and again in Late afternoon. The rest comes from a greek yogurt, soup, eggbeater, etc...but I can choke down two shakes knowing I'm getting in 8oz of Fluid and 48g of protein. -
Congrats! Keep up the good work.

Chew chew chew chew.... I seriously tried to kill myself unintentionally. Yuck. Thought I'd get in some quick protein and "gobbled" down some crab meat like prior to surgery. Obviously didn't chew chew chew and i had this sudden pain in lower chest. Drink didn't help. Felt like food was stuck. I just knew it needed to come back up to get unstuck. Awful feeling. Not ready for non mushy food yet. Baby steps baby steps. Live n learn.

Same here. Sleeved 1/19. Went to the gym for the first time today to see if that allows my body to give up the fluids I've been drinking that it sea to be holding onto for dear life. Walked and rode the stationary. We'll see. 2lbs is a win but wish it were 5 or something. Keeping the faith.

I couldn't do the store bought shakes. I did one scoop whey tech Protein (24g protein,1 sugar) with 4 oz of Water. Greek dannon yogurt has 12g of protein too and only 80 cals I now add egg substitute for gooey egg but protein is small. I'm two weeks post op. Good luck.

I think it's because you've been on liquids and soft mushy won't be much of a difference. I'm 14 days out today too. I can get in a cup of soup and even more in tea but last night, 5oz yogurt no problem but my hubby made homemade Mac n cheese last nite and I couldn't get it in (one large serving spoon scoop-maybe a cup?) I shared w the dog! Speedy recovery and weight loss to you.

One week post op and only lost 3lbs...
Jenngf5 replied to ToBeAHealthyMama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Was your preop liquid diet? If so I think this is normal. Also you are only six days out-your swollen and retaining Fluid. Follow your diet, get in your fluids and Protein and it will come. This my second week I only lost maybe two lbs - but I put on my jeans the other day and guess what? Used the ladies room and pulled them down without zipping. Lol. Your doing great!! -
Hi. I was sleeved 1/19. So almost two weeks post op! I asked the dr if I would feel good enough to go to see fleetwood Mac on 1/31 and though I thought i was doubtful the first couple if days -recovery has gone well and I had a great time at the concert last night!!

What to do 1 day before surgery?
Jenngf5 replied to tronicia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr follows south beach program and required 5% weightloss prior to scheduling surgery. Been following that program (lifestyle) since September and lost nearly twenty pounds, quit smoking and made it through the holidays too. So when it came to last week prior to surgery was asked to go back onto phase 1 (no carbs/sugars) till surgery but that was it. Kind of glad since I've pretty much been on full liquids for the last two weeks (sleeved 1/19). Except now I'm afraid to try new things afraid it will make me not feel well. I really need to focus on eating slowwww. -
Gas pain and nausea
Jenngf5 replied to suitechicguy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It gets better every day. I had awful gas pains in my shoulders. By one week post op they were almost null. Warm tea and warm soup and walking around a bit seemed to really help. U have to release it as gross as that may seem. Good luck. Speedy recovery. -
Every time I eat, my stomach gets all gurgley and uncomfortable...
Jenngf5 replied to Lizzie125's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
How many days post op? I stuck with Luke warm tea and creme soups for pretty much the first ten days. Of course I got in my protein with 4oz water. Slowly integrating a yogurt and such. The warm items seemed to settle things for me. I'm still afraid to eat, but really starting to get those cravings to chew. Sleeved 1/19 -

Got my date: January 21st
Jenngf5 replied to Fatdiva14's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
NON scale SUCCESS! I was sleeved the 19th. Feeling better every day. Gas feelings/too full feelings went away. Getting my fluids and Protein in. And today I am feeling my first non-scale success.... #1-my husband says try on your Columbia-I said "no no no" it hasn't fit in 2+ years. I felt bad cuz he bought it for me-well out of fat habit I took off my cardigan and put it on and it ZIPPED WITH EASE!!! So thrilled. Wearing it out tonight! #2 Girlfriend wanted to do lunch and she does not know about sleeve. Told her sure but I am still on soup/squishy food. I went to lunch, ordered the Soup n salad bar and had two cups of soup and a few sips of Water in two hours with little questions. She only knows about the hernia surgery. Yay! Feeling great. -

It fits! 11 days post op! My husband says it's cold try on your Columbia jacket of which I Haven't worn for two winters cuz it didn't fit- I said no no no...feeling bad cuz he bought it for me. Well I put it on (without my heavy cardigan) and it zipped with ease! Feeling hopeful and less round in the middle! Success success success. Feeling good. -
I am just watching the biggest loser season finale and I am pissed at this show and that dr! "You did it in a safe effective manner much better than those distasteful weight Loss surgeries that everyone wants to turn to. " Wtf. We have all lost weight. We all have dieted. And most of us have probably gained it back plus more! This isn't the easy way out but a TOOL to help us keep the weight off! Ugh!!!

I understand the spouse thing. My husband though married 20 yrs and very supportive in my recovery (surgery 1/19) cannot possibly comprehend the struggles with weight loss and keeping it off. This is why I chose my mom. My experience was/is good overall. I had dr Hoffman and is say my biggest complaint is that he's a fast talker. Lol If you need a support person let me know and I can maybe help you and go with you to the info session. Im not sure how (yet) but I think we can private message on this forum. Please don't let this discourage you from checking out buffalo general or with your journey. -

Jenngf5 replied to chilihot59's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For buffalo general It is a requirement to have a support person. I chose my mom in lieu of my hubby. The only two folks that knew of my surgery. I'm not completely sure why. The support person also comes to a couple of the scheduled appts. ????? It was nice to have someone help w questions and talk to. -
Get off the scale folks. I'm just as guilty and it's everyday for me but that water weight especially in woman fluctuates a lot. I think covering it up, hiding it, etc...will help. Pick one day to weigh yourself a week. Good luck to us all and keep up the good work.

@@butterfly125 Hi. Thank you for asking. I'm doing very well. I've been getting in my fluids and Protein since Friday but it is an all day affair. Went for my 1 wk post op today. Still on liquids for another week :-( but then puréed/strained for another and then soft. The diet itself is a diet plan! Lol. But I am happy. Lost 10 llbs Hw 277 Sw 259 CW 249 -

No. I am thru buffalo general kaleida health bariatric unit. But I've heard a lot of great things about ecmc and synergy. My insurance/referral was best thru buffalo general. -
Just sleeved. In the hospital now.
Jenngf5 replied to Eli Alexander's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for asking! Much better. Had my 1 wk post op today. Down 10lbs from Sw. They still want me on liquid diet :-( for another week but I can introduce "liquified" foods. Next week puréed/strained. Then pretty much stick with soft stuff. Nothing chunky and chew and chew and chew. I had lobster bisque today. Going to enjoy some of these higher fat Soups n such until I can get my nutrients from real foods and not supplements. I also broke the 250 mark! Hw 277 Sw 259 CW 249!!!
