Today is my one month follow up. I have a pic from when I started the wls on 8-19-2014 and today. Hw 276 Sw 260 surgery 1-19-15 CW?? About 240 I'm doing very well but certainly had my ups and downs. For the most part getting in my Proteins and fluids. I do need to be more disciplined with except use and drinking water! I'm sure I'll get reminded of that today at my appt. Good luck on your journey. Keep us posted.

Do family/friends honor your bariatric dietary needs?
Jenngf5 replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in Food and Nutrition
No they don't "get it". It's my no means malicious. I've been on south beach type food routine since August last year and now I'm one month post op. Before surgery my stocking had like three pound of chocolate. Luckily I got through v-day with none so that's and improvement for them. But I Still get "you can have one", I ordered you "a side of corn bread", "a little bit won't hurt you", etc. I keep saying Protein first. But I do agree it's the lack of knowledge and it's hard for them to change since mom has always enjoyed this or that. They simply don't know what to do. -
I'm one month out. I still need to have at least one Protein shake/day at 24g. Otherwise I focus on protein first with everything I eat. Typically egg substitute at 6 Jimmy dean turkey sausage at 11 Yogurt/cottage cheese at 11-12 Cheese stick or cheese on eggs at 6@ dinner just the meat. Been getting in 60-80 Good luck! You can do it.

I was recently told on chewable a for six months! Called since my chewable ran out last week and I have other Vitamins at home from preop. Nothing bigger than my synthroid in whole pill form. I use flinstone w Iron (3/day) and caltrate 600-d chewables 2/day). I buy them when they're bogo at our local pharmacy.

I had dr Hoffman too. Great guy. Fast talker but great dr. No regrets. Best of luck. -
Gas pAin. It does go away but it is excruciating. I wasn't warned about that and I was like WTF when I tried to move. Moving helps but u have to get it out-one way or another so don't be vain. Little shoulder massage works too. :-) Good luck and wishing u a speedy recovery.

New here.... A few questions.
Jenngf5 replied to snapdragon05's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first week can suck. But I SWEAR it gets better and then great! Almost one month out and back to work and I feel like a new person who is almost twenty pounds lighter than surgery day. Reward though for missing boobs! In either case, my hardest thing now is the pre planning to make sure I have good food in the house and available at work. Protein first! Fluids fluids fluids! Best of luck to you! -
My surgeon allows coffee but others in the same prac do not. Helps with early constipation they say. Either way at first I couldn't do the coffee even a little. Everything I ate and drank needed to be room temp or like warm. I couldn't do anything too hot or cold with my new sleeve. Almost 4 wks out-I am back to work and have a large iced/hot coffee every after noon. Now it's black with two sweet n lows and I put in my own 2-4oz of store bought sugar free/fat free flavored creamer. Yum!

Best of luck to you! Wishing you well and a speedy recovery!! Almost one month post op and never felt better but wondering where my boobs went? Lol. Happy valentines day! -
Not quite to a month but congrats! My advise. Leave the carbs, have Protein. Protein first. Protein first. Protein first. The would be a sausage, etc. It's also eggs-but I'm sure they have other choices for you. I have always liked eggs so I'd opt for a cheesy omelette. I'd stay away from high sugar and high carb foods. Good luck and congrats. Chew chew chew.

It's cold in the northeast and my hubby says at two weeks post op to try on my Columbia winter coat. I was terrified to (skinny hubby) since he bout it for me a few years back and it hasn't fit in a long time. Well it zipped with room to spare. Good news since it's going to be a high of 7 tomorrow! -
Keeping it a secret? Anyone else
Jenngf5 replied to Dualstarr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told three people. My mom as a support person, my husband cuz hell I was going in for surgery (lol) and my oldest son overheard. It isn't anyone else's business and as far as a couple close friends all they know us that I had a hiatal hernia repaired. What ticks me off is that I've lost over thirty pounds since preop and hardly anyhow has outwardly noticed! Wtf people? I'm 30 lbs thinner ? Hw 276 Sw 260 CW approximately: 243 (sleeved 1-19) -

My dr said 2-4 weeks. I took 3. Depends on job, I sit all day but still took the extra week and glad I did. First day back was today. It's amazing how much a week makes you heal.

Just got approval, scared about work
Jenngf5 replied to Grateful_Love's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I took short term leave. Didn't tell anyone anything except a friend that I was having hernia surgery. That's it. None of their business and against the law to ask. Only folks that need to know are the disability folks and the dr will complete that paperwork. Good luck! -
All true. Sleeved 1/19 and my first day back to work was today. You'll feel like a new person quickly and soon! Speedy recovery to you!!
-
This to will pass. I was feeling the same way at first. It's perfectly normal. As you continue to recover, you will get in more liquids and Protein and feel better. Slowly every day it does get better. I even started exercising this past week (bike and walking) and that seemed to make me feel better too (never would have said that before) I'm almost three weeks out and my biggest fear is going back to work Monday and figuring out what I can bring to eat/drink all day. Hoping my coworkers don't Celebrate my return with food I physically can't and shouldn't eat. Good luck and look at the end goal. Try searching for pics on this forum. It's inspiring.

I did and as long as i chew chew chew chew chew until squishy I was fine. Solids are a lit harder to get in than liquids for me but I was needing to chew. Three weeks out and I'm still primarily on liquids/purée but I've introduced the insides of a quesadilla, pot roast, hard boiled egg, egg /mushroom scramble, and some crab meat. Made the mistake of gobbling down some crab meat without properly chewing and I thought I was going to die when it seemed to get stuck! It was awful feeling so I've since taken it much easier on my new insides. Good luck.
-
My dr said bike n walking as I feel up to it. I go to the local gym (buffalo here so I'm not walking outside either). I waited a week and 1/2 out though when I felt more up to it. Sleeved 1/19) My dr also said no lifting for 6-8 weeks. I see a lot of folks do Water exercise. My gym unfortunately doesn't have a pool. Good luck and welcome.
