I am excited...I faxed the copy of my cashier's check to the office today! I can't believe that this time next week I will be in Tijuana! Any suggestions on places to go to get the best popsicles and broths either in the San Diego airport or in Tijuana? I plan on shopping this weekend for the trip and stuff for the house afterwards...any suggestions on items that I should bring?? SO READY!!!

Hello Everyone! I have my procedure on March 20th-but I am a little nervous cause I have 20 pounds to lose before then! I gained like 15 pounds after I turned in my paperwork and now I am working with OCC's nutritionist...but I am a little worried that I won't lose all the weight by then! Has anyone been turned away if they didn't lose the required weight? I really don't want to go down there on the 19th if they refuse to do my procedure....any thoughts?

Hello All! I am having my procedure done on March 20th at the OCC! I am so excited however I had to start the pre pre-op diet a little early since I gained about 15 pounds since I decided to go through with the surgery. I literally went on a food funeral frenzy-I was eating everything in sight! It wasn't until I saw the new number on the scale that I realized I had to stop...now I need to lose 27 pounds before the surgery....I am not nervous just ready for this new chapter of my life. I wish I hadn't binged out on food, but I did and it is no reason to cry over spilled milk. I am ready for this change and I am determined to succeed.

So I don't know what is going on with me, but this week I have been so depressed. My surgery date is March 20th but I have been feeling really low about my body and being single. I am trying to stay positive but it just crept up on me this week and it is a battle. My weight has always been an issue for me and now I am making the conscious decision to make changes in my life. I am so anxious for me to sit on the losers bench, but I want to be happy now and not depressed about things that will change soon! In a few months I will start losing weight, and feeling better about myself...but this feeling now is for the birds! I have been praying and any encouraging words will be great for this supportive group!

Hey! I am going to Tijuana on March 19th and Dr. Ortiz with the Obesity Control Center will perform my surgery. My dad is coming with me...I am flying to DFW and picking him up and then we are heading to San Diego. I am so excited and I can't wait to sit on the losers bench!

I am scheduled on March 20th with Dr. Oritz with the Obesity Control Center in Tijuana! I am so excited and I think it is good to have this support!

Yes it would be exciting to meet you and your wife there! I have already decided as soon as I get to Tijuana I want to go to Walmart and stock the mini-fridge so I don't have to venture off too much after the procedure. Also, I have decided to stop telling people about the surgery since folks are so judgmental. It is crazy how some people believe that the only good doctors are in the US. I had a conversation yesterday with a group at my friend's house and that made me realize how small minded some are...it really made me mad and it made me appreciate this thread so much more! It is great to have supportive people who understand the battle of the bulge and the desire to cross over to the sleeve side!!!

I have decided to take the plunge and get the procedure done by Dr. Ortiz in TJ on March 20th! I am so excited that I can barely sleep at night and focus at work! Since my insurance won't cover this surgery I will be paying out of pocket for this procedure (thus I have to wait until March to get my bonus). I am so ready for this next chapter of our lives. It is an exciting time and we must be ready for this new chapter!

So after researching the sleeve for weeks I have decided to take the plunge and get the procedure done by Dr. Ortiz on March 20th! I am so excited...I can barely sleep at night and focus at work it is bad!! All I do is think about this new adventure that I will take in a few months! Since my insurance won't cover this elective surgery I will be paying out of pocket for this procedure (thus I have to wait until March to get my bonus). I am so ready for this next chapter of my life- I refuse to let another year go by with me still dealing with these issues. I know I need help and I truly believe that this surgery will help me in my quest for a healthy lifestyle! The only person who is not supportive is my mother. She is worried about me going to Mexico for the procedure and is scared that something bad will happen. I told all my family about how qualified Dr. Ortiz is and how his facility is an International Center of Excellence but she still prefers me to get my surgery done in the US. To be honest, I thought about it for a little while but Dr. Ortiz has more credentials than the doctors that I looked into. My dad is very supportive and he will go to Mexico with me. Thus, I hope my mother can respect my decision and just pray for a safe and speedy recovery! Either way, this surgery is for me and me only. I have to live in this body and I want to live a long life - I am so glad that I found this thread because it has been very helpful in me making my decision on Dr. Ortiz!
