You sound like me, 5 foot 4 inches and around 210 pounds with sleep apnea which I am unable to control because I find it impossible to use a CPAP machine at night when I sleep. Like you, I need to lose the pounds and rid the apnea. How many pounds do you think we need to lose? I am 59 years old and I have a pacemaker so I hope I am healthy enough for the proceedure and the whole ordeal. The band will cause so many changes in my life that I am aware that it will be quite an adjustment for me. Do you have your band yet or are you like me, still considering it?

I have to give up bread for the rest of my life after I have the Lap Band proceedure? How long must I stay on liquids after the proceedure? How do I control head hunger and what am I allowed to eat at night when I am most hungery? Alida

What is "PBing" and "Head hungery"? I take meds that causes hunger and I wonder if this fact will interfer with my success with the Lap Band proceedure. And how about emotional eating? That is not a problem I have but it does exisit and could happen. I just want to be sure the proceedure is right for me. I hope it will cut down on my constant hunger pains. Am I expecting too much from the proceedure?

I am considering having the procedure. Please tell me all about it because I have sleep apnea due to my weight and can't get used to the breathing machine I have to use. The apnea is hard on my heart and other organs, I could lose my life if I don't loose weight. What is a "fill" and an "unfill"? What complications can I come up against? How does the doctor have access to the Lap Band after it has been put in?

where is the port of entry for the Lap Band? How is it accessed by the doctor? Does he have to use anesthesia in order to enter accesseach time he need to go in?

I have all those illnesses in my bloodline as well, but I have never given it much thought. One brother of mine is obese and has sleep apnea llike I have, (he could use having the Lap Band proceedure done). I weight 214 pounds and am 5 foot 4 inches tall. How much do I have to lose in order to rid myself of sleepp apnea? I have a pace maker and I'm almost 60 years old. Will this be a problem? What is the best liquid diet to go on? Later would Jenny Craig be a good option? (When I'm on solids?) Besides from walking and riding the eliptical machine, and jumping rope, what is a good way to exercise? I hear your appetite does not go away even after the proceedure, is that true, and what is done to surpress ones appetite? These are only a few questions I have. Please respond. Alida

Are you in pain? I'm worried about the after effects, and how to pay the $5,000.00 out-of-pocket cost. If they don't cover it for health reasons??? Either way I need and want it ..just scared to pass while in surgery..are you completly out when they do the proceedure?

I have Medicare, and Cigna kicks in after I have met $5,000.00 out-of-pocket. Would the doctor be able and willing to work with me on the deductable?
