    Alcohol?

WOW! @ beachgurl84 u sound so disgruntled. My statement was to answer is that why doctor says do not drink. Not to u specifically. And we ALL POST what we think, knowing that none of us are medical professionals. I don't THINK docs are telling their patients not to drink due to brain damage issues. Of course alcohol and sooo many other drugs can cause these and many more sever issues. Do I think that why ur doc says x amount of time and others doc say 6 months, some say 3, some say 6 weeks. No I don't THINK so... But common sense says we should ALL follow our own doc orders... no one else. Hope you have calmed down. This forum is to help and everyone provides their opinion. It is NOT to be hostile towards one another since we are all in this together. Good luck to you.
  3. Hmmmm, I'm 4 weeks out but am not on beef or pork, or chicken yet. Only seafood, fish, shrimp, scallops, crab.. well u get the idea. I'm thinking if you threw up on the meatloaf it may be very early for you to consume beef. That's one of the very last things we r supposed to consume Try something lighter. I have never slimmed or thrown up. thank goodness. But it bores me to take 45 minutes to eat. I can't get 4 oz down only 1/2 of that so I go back an hour later to try and finish up... "boring" . Lol, hopefully that will all get better too!

    Alcohol?

@ beachgurl84 I do think it varies for individuals and it has nothing to do with brain damage. My co-workers who by the way drink like fish, husband was sleeved Nov 2013 she was dec 2013. They began driking 6/8 weeks out and she has lost 105 lbs. and he has lost 185 lbs. So while I would not encourage anyone to drink and bar hop often as much as they do, well again to each his own but it's not going to kill you and I suppose it varies as far as stopping weight loss progression. It sure has NOT stopped theirs.. they r still losing...

    Any December 30th Sleevers ?!

I was sleeved December 23rd. I can tolerate regular Water very well, but pink lemonade Crystal Light is AWESOME!!!! It's very difficult for me to eat 4oz at a time so i normally break up into 2 sittings. Went to first doc visit Monday and he said that is fine, but eventually will want to get to 3 meals a day and 2 Snacks. Been doing well since surgery never any vomiting or nausea HOWEVER I have serious gas bubbles all the time in the esophagus or the sleeve? gets in way of my consumption whether liquid or food :-( I don't know what to do to get the bubbles out of the way, they make me feel more full than I am. I can do tiny little burps only. I do gas x but it doesn't seem to help with this particular gas. ANY suggestions?

    Alcohol?

Nah, I went Monday for my 3 week check up and that was one of my questions. When can u have alcohol. Doc told me 6 weeks out.
  7. Ok, so we are not supposed to feel hungry correct? Well I swear since I'm 3 weeks post op and just started last week soft solids fish, seafood, soft fruit and veggies, soft Pasta, crackers etc. I feel hungry. I cannot eat 4 oz at one sitting most of time but i resume an hour later. Went to doc first time after surgery this Monday and am down 24lbs. he said is good because he only expected 15 lbs. When I asked his nurse about me feeling hungry she said I shouldn't but that the hunger part of the stomach being removed does not work for everyone!!!!! WHAT??? Has anyone heard of that? I thought that was the entire purpose!!!!! Please weigh in on feelings of hunger or is it just gas bubbles??
  8. @ fit4life123 my doc said same, no pre op diet unless you have contributing factors that may affect the liver. He also said if you are over 500 lbs he does a pre-op diet for his patients.

    Feeling Hunrgy?

@ BLERDgirl aaaah ok, yes i have only eaten 2 eggs thus far on the plan and i have had 1/2 an avocado over the week. I normally eat a flavored oikos greek yogurt. But are u saying to use it as a mayo sub? (the plain?) Apples, huh didnt think i could eat those yet.... I will double check as i love a nice granny smith... I'd gladly sub that for cracker. I was thinking cracker would help absorb some of that darn acid or gas I'm bothered with daily. Egg salad yes! ok have only made tuna so far... but egg salad..cool Beans Thanks

    I'm kinda disappointed

Well I'm 3 weeks post-op and cannot tell you what i weighed except for the day of surgery and my first doc visit that was on Monday. 24 lbs down. I did not buy a scale and WILL NOT buy a scale. I'm just going to follow the program and I may weigh once per mo at the gym... (maybe) not going to be a slave to the scale. As been proven if you follow the program it will work. Not going to stress about stalls or any of that. The 12 pounds you lost is GREAT, because i am heavier than you and my doc said he had only expected me to have lost 15. You are doing wonderful! stick to the plan and stay away from the scale...

    Vitamins

@ heav85 why would your hubby think you will not take your Vitamins? It's all part of the process.

    Feeling Hunrgy?

@ BLERDgirl Thanks because i was thinking it could be acid or gas. Reason being I was never a "hungry" person pre-op so found it weird I would be post-op when its supposed to do the opposite. Yes I have never had any Pasta yet, well in my chicken noodle Soup. I use 2 crackers when i eat Peanut Butter. Not a big pasta eater. Doing tilapia, salmon, and chicken breasts right now. Peanut butter and alot of refried Beans which is probably keeping me "gassed" up. But trying to eat the things I like that contain Protein. Only veggies I have eaten so far is broccoli and green beans. Any eating suggestions please share.

    Bananas? Good Or Bad?

My doc also recommended blending a banana in with protein shake. I say go for it.
  14. Hi I'm 47 and before surgery my arms are and have been very flabby, they HANG and wiggle already.... i'm not in 20's so skin not gonna snap back..elasticity is GONE! lol Weights are very good for toning but the issues with my arms have been in existence for entirely too long and that is not going to help at this point with all the extra flab I have they hang at least 1 1/2 inch and wiggle, wiggle, so I know it's only going to get worse when I have the surgery on 12/23 and lose weight. I'm already prepared for that. :-( I think my only option will be surgery. Does anyone know what the rules are for your insurance to approve? Or is it very different for every company? I know some people say insurance will cover 1 surgery after a bariatric procedure? Anyone have any info on this at all?

Scared to Death for Post Op

Like u, I was also scared because of all I was reading. Well I am 9 days post op and was never nauseous nor have I ever thrown up! All people are different but if u follow the doc's instructions I'm sure u will be just fine. Eat slow
  16. Yes 15 per mo is A LOT just think 15lbs x10 month is 150

Struggling with not eating post op

OK, SO I thought it was just me. Because I'm 5 days out and I find myself hungry. My doc stats with full liquids so I do the soups cottage cheese yogurt, jello etc. So this hungry OFTEN feeling shall pass? Is that what I'm hearing? I hope so because I was beginning to believe the surgery didn't work for me...Lol
  19. Well Well everyone surgery in the morning.
  20. so today was my first day post app with diet. not sure if I have failed or if this is common was only able to get 30 grams of proteinstill have not had any gas to pass so that's keeping me full or bloated ratherthus making it hard to put anything else in my systemany suggestion advice would really help. I keep a bottle of water in the bed with me so when I wake during the night I sip.

3 days post op and discouraged

Don I am 3 days post op as well the most pain I am suffering is due to the gas that will not pass I do have pain at two of my incision. But try sleeping up right meaning stack your pillows and sleep sitting up. This helps...try gas x for gas pain. U may need lots...lol as I have almost finished a box of 18 and only passed gas once, which was just a few minutes ago. I'm really looking forward to several more to get this pain out. Also walk, walk, walk.... what pain meds were u prescribed? Good luck to u, we r in this togethrt
