I never did an introduction, I just found out about it actually. But I'm so excited, I'm leaving for Mexico tomorrow at 6:00 am. Well actually, I'm flying from Ct. to San Diego at 6:00 am. Not too happy about the hour.... I will have to get up at 3:30 am. But I probably won't be able to sleep anyhow. I'm too nervous. Anyway, my name is Vanessa and I'll (hopefully) be banded by Dr.Ortiz on Friday 8/19. That's the way it's scheduled at least. I work in the healthcare field and I have 2 children, ages 2 and 3. I really need to be healthy for them and hope this band will help me maintain. Thanks for reading!:cheeky

I'm pretty sure I heard that she had gastric bypass surgery, like 7 or 8 months ago. The radio station I listen to was joking about it. Actually I was just thinking who knows what half these anorexic looking stars have had done to stay so skinny, they certainly have enough money to pay for whatever they want!

Vinesqueen- I'm so happy to see you say that its ok to have a drink(or drinks). I don't want to sound like a lush but thats one thing I've been a little worried about. I'm used to having a drink almost every day at night to unwind and with 2 and 3 year old children I need it! But what can you have? I know beer is a no no and I love gin and tonics in the summer, but that has carbonation. Are margaritas ok?:rolleyes

Hi Kel- Try drugstore.com and do a search for protein powders and drinks. They usually are soy or whey protein and they come in lots of flavors including chocolate. Also a great, yummy ready to drink shake is made by EAS. I buy them because they are so easy and good! The low carb ones only have 1 carb and 19 grams of protein and lots of other vitamins and minerals. The chocolate fudge is really good... and the rich dark chocolate. And they only have 110 calories! I drink them for breakfast all the time. Good luck!

Hi everyone- I'm new to the group and have my surgery scheduled for 8/19- I would like to know when those of you who exercise regulary started after surgery? I know you need to recover, but I'm used to doing interval training with nautilus 2-3 times a week. I don't want to totally get out of that mode if I don't have to... but I think the weights might be a problem. Any advice?

What, exactly, is a timtam? I've heard those mentioned on this site once before and have no clue. Also I know its probably not the best thing to indulge before my band, but since I've actually lost 6 lbs. since scheduling and have kicked up my exercise program I don't feel as guilty. I'm very committed to this as a life long change. I also have a lower BMI, 32.5 to be exact, that's why I'm having my surgery in Mexico by Dr.Ortiz. It also helps that he seems to have a great reputation.

I'm laughing- Its a humid 98 degrees here and I'm drinking a corona while I surf because I read that beer is a no-no after surgery. So of course when I went grocery shopping today I had to buy my last 6 pack to enjoy before my date, 8/19. And i'm going to have icecream later. Not a very healthy dinner, but its HOT.

Thanks, that was quick. Six weeks must be the magic number- it was the same after my C-section. Are you as nervous and excited as I am?
