  1. I told 3 family members, 1 friend and my boss. When I was going through the process of getting all the tests that needed to be done before surgery, I had so much negative unsolicited advice from..... the lab techs - to the psychologist to the x-ray techs to the cardiologist. Everyone of them tried to talk me out of it. I decided then just not to tell anyone and avoid any negatives to something I knew was going to be such a positive experience for me.

  4. @@CJSLEEVE Hi Chris, I'm a little slow navigating my way through these forums, as I've just found this one. I was sleeved 12/17 and things are going even better since I busted through a 2 month stall. How are things with you?

    Coffee post VSG

Well, according the the Mayo Clinic and MANY studies a quick Google search will turn up, caffeinated beverages do count toward your daily Fluid intake and don't cause fluid loss: http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-living/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/expert-answers/caffeinated-drinks/faq-20057965 http://www.npr.org/blogs/thesalt/2014/01/13/262175623/coffee-myth-busting-cup-of-joe-may-help-hydration-and-memory Well, how about that, I've been drinking extra water for no good reason. ha

    Coffee post VSG

Can I ask why? Not that the extra 16 oz. of water isn't great no matter what, but why does it have to be a trade-off for your coffee? According to my Nut, I'm not allowed caffeine. It may act as a diuretic and hinder my daily fluid intake. So, just in case it's true, I drink an extra 16 ounces of water, on top of the 64++++ ounces I already drink. <--- my own little head game I suppose.

    Coffee post VSG

I allow myself 4oz of black hazelnut caffeinated coffee per day since 30 days post surgery. I then must drink an extra 16 ounces of Water because of my indulgence.
  9. @@Liz5012 Same here, ate too much, too fast. I don't do that any more.

    TWO month stall!

You are singing my song. Sleeved on12/17, stalled Jan 2nd - finally the scale started moving the last week of February. The last 8 lbs of my weight loss has been since the last week of February. I believe 2 major things contributed to it - my sister had a stroke (Jan 3rd - came home March 1st) I was NOT exercising like I should have been. I was not drinking enough Water. I found as soon as I did something where I worked up a sweat everyday, drank my water - that darn scale started moving.

    A New Love!

Here is a question I haven't seen before. I use myfitnesspal to log all my food, when I come up with really good recipes I use the recipe part of the myfitnesspal app to not only create the recipe, but also log the nutritional data onto my daily food log. Can other people view the recipe that I created?

    A New Love!

My new love has been Beans, black beans, kidney, navy any kind of beans - I absolutely crave them. Never ate them before surgery, I wouldn't even eat a pea before surgery. I can eat beans breakfast lunch and dinner. I've come up with all kinds of different bean recipes, from bean Soup, to bean salad, refried beans...OMG!!! It's crazy how my tastes have changed.
  14. As the saying goes, I always regret it if I don't exercise and I never regret it when I do. I really want to love it though.
  15. When was the last time you lost 40 lbs in 10 weeks, and recovered from a mild heart attack? Cut yourself some slack. Your are doing great. As for the 3 week stall, I truly believe that stalls are merely the body getting use to the weight loss.
  16. LisaLouBop

    Why do we stall?

I completely agree. I've lost 4 lbs (2 of those pounds came off just last week) since January 2nd, but my body has continued to change.
  17. LisaLouBop

    Stalled for 6 weeks!

105 lbs in 10 months? That's amazing!!!!! You must be so proud of yourself, what an accomplishment. I've lost 43 since my journey began, the last 4 lbs have been since January 2nd - 4 lbs in 8 weeks... UGH.. I'm feeling your pain with regards to the stall. I'm going to make it through this stall and so are you...

    What shampoo do you use?

I started taking biotin 10 mg a day. I also only use shampoo about once a month, I use a cleansing conditioner every day, something along the line of wen. I'm only 7 weeks post op, I'm not sure if you are further along than I am. But so far so good.
