My memories of being overweight go all the way back to kindergarten. I played Mrs. Santa Claus in the school play. I can even remember the red and white dress I wore that day. I always knew I was bigger than everyone else..........especially since then.
I've never been a thin person, actually the least I ever remember weighing was 150 lbs and that was in middle school. I always wanted to be like the other girls. People only paid attention to me because of my tough, yet comedic personality. I was always the center of attention, whether it was getting in trouble or making people laugh.
This Friday, 12/12/14 all of that changes. At the age of 54 I am having gastric sleeve surgery. I have been determined since I started this journey 3 months ago. I know I can do it. I know I want to do it. I know the only thing holding me back from being the person I've always wanted to be is me.
As of today I am on day 7 of my all liquids pre-op diet. It may be one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life. Only 5 more days......then 4.....then 3.....and so on. At least thats what I keep telling myself.
I started this journey at my highest weight ever.........306 pounds. More than twice the weight of that middle school girls who thought she was overweight THEN. I hope I can be a motivator, because if I can do this.....I may very well be able to do anything.
Prayers for Strength to all of us.
