What to pack for the hospital
Sharon1964 replied to thinkingthin15's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my heavens. Nail polish and makeup? Y'all are some dedicated women! I wore a loose dress, panties, bra and sandals, which I then wore home two days later. I packed my cpap, a pair of loose sweatpants and fresh panties, my phone, charger, ID and a check for my copay. That's it. If I didn't have the cpap, I could have fit everything into a bag smaller than my purse. The hospital provided non-slip socks, cleansing cloths, toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, etc. Since I ended up staying an extra night I got to take a real shower on day 2 before I went home. Before that I just cleaned up with their supplies. I didn't need anything for dry mouth because I was drinking all the time. -

8/14 is the Big Day! Feeling very nervous

You got this! You can do it! -
That's strange. Generally (unless something has changed and in the insurance business, it always does), if it's BCBS and California, it's for federal employees. Otherwise, it's one of two separate companies - Anthem Blue Cross or Blue Shield of California. I have Blue Shield of California, I was all set to give you their info. Sorry.

Should I cancel my surgery? Help!
Sharon1964 replied to Nibbler's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would ask your daughter what she thinks. Personally, I would not cancel. Life is always throwing curveballs at you... if you put plans on hold until the curveballs stop, you'll never live your life. -
Blue Cross and Blue Shield are two different companies in California. Which one do you have - Blue Cross of California or Blue Shield of California?

So tired of people saying you dont need surgery!
Sharon1964 replied to Shellbell619's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Random person: "you don't need surgery" You: "thanks!" or "thanks, I'll tell my surgeon! He'll be so happy to hear it!" or "is that how you say "good luck" in your language?" or "it's so cute that you think I'm asking for your opinion." or, in the case of a medical professional who is not on your bariatric team, "I'd like to speak to your supervisor now." -
6 WEEKS POST OP AND I CANT TAKE IT
Sharon1964 replied to Evvydots's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I left the hospital, what they emphasized the most was that if I had any questions, any funny feelings, anything at all that was bothering me, I was to call my surgeon's office. If I were in your shoes, I would be calling them. Today. -
Call and ask for the Office Manager or Practice Manager at your surgeon's office.

At the risk of a trainwreck, I'm going to use a phrase I used recently... "beg your pardon?" -

The egg with semen at 2 weeks is really the conception. You don't have to do any math. If babycenter says you're 4 weeks, that's the picture you look at. By the way, I used to be a forum host over there! -

Sharon1964 replied to Comfy_Blue's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Pregnancy isn't dated from the date of conception, it's dated from the date of your last period. Stupid, I know. So you get credit for two weeks gestation that never happened. -
Tomorrow is surgery! So excited!

@@Alex Brecher Perhaps moving it to the Rants and Raves section would put it in a better perspective.

So you are saying you are black and Spanish and that's why you're "talking" the way you are? Yeah, this gets better and better. And as far as "who says 'beg your pardon' in 2015", most well-educated people I come in contact with say "I beg your pardon" when they do not understand a message, and if it is so convoluted and strewn with examples of word salad, it is entirely appropriate to inquire if someone is having a stroke or some other medical emergency. Bless your heart.

I probably won't get a straight answer to this question either... What job do you have that requires a masters degree, pays a six figure salary, but you don't get off work until 11pm?? Do you at least get lots of perquisites?
