    Sisters's "Concerned" Speech! LOL

What did you say? Did you tell her you were still considered obese?
  2. I also buy from costco. I hate gummies. I get children's chewable Multivitamins, sublingual B12 (rapid dissolve), Iron pills, and Calcium chocolate chews there. I also take Probiotics every day, and I get those from Costco as well. My digestive system works better after my doctor had me start them a year or so ago (well before surgery). I've had to take Vitamin D long before I was sleeved, and my insurance covers the prescription strength ones that I take once a week.

BCBSTX- approved but Hubby's Employer X'd

If it's self-insured and BCBS is the third party administrator, then they have hired BCBS to handle their authorizations and claims. If this is the case, BCBS couldn't have approved it without the additional restrictions. So who told you and how did they tell you (letter?) about the additional requirements?
  4. Yes, you're on the right track. You cannot appeal until you have a denial. On your appeal, you will stress that you were dehydrated and the weight they submitted was not your true weight. Also, they could just approve and pay the claim, that's a possibility.

    What’s Your Attitude Towards Carbs?

For me, Mister Carb is the driver on the bus to hell. I have zero control when I start eating carbs. Garlic bread is the devil's work. Buttery white rice with salt and pepper - I become a fiend. pizza, I will CUT YOU if you try to take my pizza. See? See how I get? I can't go there. I can't do moderation at this point, five months out. Since I can't eat any more than 1/3 cup at a time, I eat Protein and a couple of bites of green vegetable. The carbs I get are in greek yogurt and cheese. Maybe once a week I have a couple of grapes.

    Fever on day 12

Yeah, I'd head over to the hospital. You might have pneumonia. That's how mine started - fever and shaking/chills. I had no respiratory symptoms until a week after the fever started.
  7. Well, I always say ask your nutritionist, but my team says 1/3 cup of food at each meal for the first six months. I'm five months out now and I'm full on 1/3 cup of food - there's no way I could eat one cup. My advice would be to start getting used to 1/3 cup of food at each meal.

    Post-Op Meatballs

You're on pureed food for EIGHT WEEKS???? Holy cow!

Stop telling me what NOT to do!

Memorize this phrase, "I'll give that all the consideration it deserves." Repeat as necessary.

Just had a crappy experience !

Hey! I... uhhh.... I mean... that is to say... well...
  11. Did you portion out that much or did you keep going back for more? Just measure out 1/3 cup of food and put the rest away before you start eating. At this point, you're not eating to get full and need to measure everything.

Just had a crappy experience !

Yeah, I was thinking the stench got to him, because I have the game on and it's definitely the Chiefs they're playing!

    Sitting in the hospital crying

Just chiming in to say hang in there. And remember, if you are home after surgery and you have difficulty breathing, immediately get to the ER. Want to make you sure don't have a blood clot that traveled to your lungs.

    Catheter

Ask your surgeon; every surgeon is different. If they do cath you, it will be while you're asleep. I actually asked for a cath, so I didn't have to jump out of bed right after surgery to pee.

A normal daily diet for the sleeve

I'm 5 months out today, and not at goal. Breakfast: one fruit-flavored greek yogurt, or one scrambled egg with cheese. Lunch: 1/3 cup of meat leftover from dinner, or about six small meatballs. Dinner: 1/3 cup of meat (fish, chicken, steak, ribs, pork loin, etc.) with about two bites of vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower) One sugar-free tropical popsicle after dinner. About 60 ounces or more of crystal light each day. My plan does not allow Snacks. I tried adding some salad to lunch or dinner, but I just can't eat it after eating my Protein.
  16. Have you identified why you're doing this and what it will take to get you to stop? It sounds like you know the food probably won't physically hurt you, but not being able to stay on plan this early out is a problem. You could try wearing a surgical mask while you're cooking dinner, as a constant reminder not to put food in your mouth. Also, that weird feeling for me is acid. I'm on omeprazole every day. My surgeon wanted me to try to wean off it, but after two days without it, I've got the weird feeling plus acid reflux.
  17. It doesn't matter what the hospital said or what the surgeon said. They are both wrong. Because you are not well-versed in this subject, I still say you should call the customer service number on your insurance card and tell them you want to file a formal complaint against the hospital and the surgeon. Then explain that when you were in a gown, they suddenly decided insurance wouldn't cover the surgery (even though you had authorization) and demanded payment up front. Tell them you need their help to get the hospital and the surgeon to file claims, because you've already given them $9,000 (or whatever the total was), and you need help. Start a notebook and write down the date, the time, and the name of the person you spoke too, and some notes about the conversation.

    FMLA vent

FMLA isn't payment. Under FMLA, generally (but not always), you use up all your paid time off then you can take unpaid time off if you need it. Some disability plans, such as yours, requires one week of paid time off. If you are denied disability, then you would continue using your paid time off. FMLA is just protecting your job.

    Need a Healthy Snack

If you've been gaining weight, why are you snacking? Perhaps you should cut out the snack completely and drink something instead.

"My Diet is Better than Your Diet" -- random rambling...

I missed the beginning of it, but caught the rest. The woman with the hot oil and the cookie? She was a nutjob. If the secret to losing weight was eating Cookies and rubbing warm oil on your fat, I would be one skinny beotch!
  21. Here's the thing... the HOSPITAL cannot decide that you suddenly don't meet their criteria, and then let you go cash pay. If you don't meet their criteria, method of payment won't change that. The whole thing is shady. You can't submit the claim yourself, because it's more than just submitting receipts. Don't back down. I would go ahead and file a complaint with your insurance company.
  22. His surgeon is in Victoria, Texas.
  23. This. 100%. Every health insurance contract I've ever seen requires this. Tell both the surgeon and the hospital that you expect them to file your claim within five business days (put it in writing, certified mail return receipt). They've had enough time already to get it done. If they don't file, then make a formal complaint with your insurance company.
