I was also banded on 2/25. My surgery went well. I came home on tuesday, took my pain meds and went to bed and woke up 2 times in the night. I took my meds went back to bed. In the morning I was having terrible dry heaves( I had had one bout of them on the drive home) and nausea. I called my Doctor and was told to stop taking my pain medication and start taking liquid tylenol. And take a anti nausea medication. Sure enough, within a few hours, no more dry heaves and nausea. None since... Yesterday I was in quite alot of pain, but not alotof gas pains. Today I feel a whole lot better except for a back ache that started along with some minor gas pains. I took a gas-x and got out the heating pad. I'm hoping tomorrow I will feel even better! I'm really only eating about 1/4 -1/2 cups of chicken broth (better than boulion) maybe 3 baby spoons total of SF Jello crystal lite Water I had started to have alot of grumbling going on in my tummy...and alot of burping....I really hope the burping stops...How will I ever eat in front of people...LOL Blessings, Brenda

I found out today that I'm the first surgery of the day! I' have to be there at 5:00 am and my surgery should start no later than 7:15 am. I'm on the high Protein diet until the day before and I am on clear liquids; broth, sf jello-no red or orange, tea, cofee,and crystal light.

I'm being banded on the 25th. We are all going to do so well and attain our goals.

I'm happy to hear your surgery went well. Thank you for the advice about eh walking! I have surgery on Monday 2/25. I will make sure I do alot of walking! Good Luck to you

Hello, I'm getting excited, and nervous at the same time. MY dh and I have to travel about 2 hours so we are going down the night before. My awesome Doctor K says I will be the first or second surgery of the day. Woo Hoo It will be nice to have alot of someones to go side by side on this journey!:tongue2:

My surgery is on February 25th. I was put on a high protein diet, to shrink the liver for surgery on February 15 when the surgery was scheduled. I have lost 8 pounds since I started the pre-op diet. I was not given a certain amount of weight to lost but just told that the weight loss would shrink the liver and make the surgery easier.

Hello everyone, my surgery is scheduled for the 25th. I'm so excited. Is there anything I absolutley should bring to the hospital with me? I'm going to be a Victorious Valentine! :eek::thumbup:

I'm spending the night also. I have packed: Lip balm, some comfy sweats and shirt, slippers, cozy socks, lotion, a photo of my boys, and a pillow. My boys each packed one of their stuffed animals. My DH is shocked I'm not packing my makeup and said he was going to grap my makeup bag, just in case. LOL I cannot wait to start losing weight with all of you.

I also have BC/BS of Michigan. I was on a number of diets with my doctor supervision, for over a year, including weight loss meds. I just did Weight Watchers and a Low carb diet throughout the year and saw him monthly. I had my consult on 11/13/07, requested a referral from my doctor on 11/24, it took him a almost a month to gt it to my surgeon, then I had my first Consult on 1/21/07, got my labwork and psych eval on 1/23/07 and am scheduled for Surgery on February 25th! It went pretty fast...Good Luck to you!

I just wanted to give you a WooHoo on your weight loss! Awesome. I received a call from my surgeons Office and my bariatric consultant is reviewing my case and making sure all the 'ducks are in a row for insurance'. She said she will be calling me by the end of the week for my final consultation date and my surgery date...Then its my 2 week liquid phase. Hello, I joined a few months ago and it looks like I'm going to be banded around Valentines Day! <3 <3 I'm so excited about this. I had my psyc eval, blood work and my chest x-rays done today. My Doctor should have my results on all three by the 30th. They will then schedule my surgery and I'll have my last appointment before surgery I received my two week post op diet and its not just Protein liquids like I thought it would be. I can have 3 servings of unjury with milk or Water. If I choose water I can have 1 extra protien source with each drink. 1 meal of 4-6 oz. of very lean protein,, 1-2 c. low carb veggies, 1 large salad with 1 TBS dressing of my choice. I'm worried that this will not shrink my liver enough. What pre- op diet plan did you have? Blessings, Brenda

Hello, Dr. David Kam is joining the Office where I'm going to have my surgery at. They should have all of my paperwork and call and give me a consult and nutritionist appointment next Wednesday. I'm thinking that I'm going to request him since he is new there and I should be able to get the surgery done sooner. What have you thought of him? Were you happy with him and the Surgery he performed. I'm going to get the lap band since it's less evasive. I have a BMI of 40.8 and do not have any other health issues except for being overweight. I wear a 8 1/2 shoe...I would love to lose at least 1 shoe size. I could say I had 'tiny feet' lol

Hello, I'm just starting out. I have researched for a long time. I have my referral and paperwork in and am supposed to hear from the bariatric consultant the day after Christmas to schedule my First Consultation and my appointment with the Nutritionist. I'm having my surgery done in a city about 1 1/2 hours away and so I chose to use a Psychologist in my city. He called and I scheduled this for early January. They are still scheduling in January for the Consults so I'm hoping I can get in in at least early February if not he end of January. A new highly qualified Doctor is joining the Office so It just might happen. My psychologist told me I will meet with him for a session and them fill out some tests and then he takes them an evaluates them and sends them on to my Surgeon. What kind of questions are on the tests? Are there ones I have to careful about answering that will send up a red flag? I have a BMI of 40.8 and have no other health issues except plantar faciitis that I developed when I was pregnant with my first of two sons born in 2005 and 2006. I have orthodics the the PF. I'm looking forward to the surgery and look forward to a long and healthy life with my husband and sons. Thank you, Brenda
