  8. Hello Everyone, I want to thank you all for your posts here. I was stuck at 20 pounds and waiting to see my scale move. Even with running and journaling it wouldn't budge. I stepped on the scale this morning and have lost another 4 pounds...for a total of 6 sonce my first fill on 4/3. I have great restriction and can barely eat much at each sitting so I'm eating 5-6 itty bitty meals. Your posts have given me encouragement to not faulter, keep running and look ahead. :thumbup:Thank You All!

How much restriction from 1st fill?

My band must have taken a few days to let the saline "settle in" LOL After my first fill, 4/3/08 of 1.5 (3 was put in on day of surgery) I really didn't feel a restriction at all until 4/8/08. I had a loss of 6 pounds since my fill have good restriction and I'm very happy with my band.

    Had my first "stuck" moment!

Ouch! I had bread get stuck in the beginning, before my first fill. My Doctor told me to try it so I knew what I could and could not tolerate with my band. I have since tried bread toasted with no problem. Once it happens, you do not want it to happen again at all.... I have had string cheese with no problem as of yet,(knock on wood, lol) I'm going to think twice now and chew...lol

    My first fill Thursday!

I talked with another lapbander on my surgeons website. She had her surgery exactly 1 week before me with the same Doctor in the Office I'm at and just had her first fill. She asked questions that I was going to ask Thursday and I found out that our band is 10cc's and that he put in 3cc's at time of surgery. He put in 2 cc's at her first fill. I'm curious if he has different criteria for the fill. Does it depend on your weight, amount of restriction at the time of fill etc. I'm of course going to ask him at my appointment. How much was your first fill? Blessings, Brenda

First month of life with the band

For the most part you lose most of you weight on the Pre-op and Post-op Liquid diets. You go through the clear liquid, full liquid, mushies and then on to regular foods. At that point from my experience you have little or no restriction until you have your first fill. So at that point some people stop losing weight or put a little back on. It's normal , you are going from clear liquids and almost no calories to a regualr diet with alot more calories. I would suggest you keep a food journal or use one at fitday.com or sparkspeople.com to track your food, protein, water, exercise and thoughts. It had helped me alot. I was at a standstill for over two weeks without a loss and then had a 1.5 pound. After you have your first fill you will be on the losers bench again. Good luck with your Surgery!

    Nausea after first fill

My Doctor said it could have been because I took a bigger gulp instead if a sip for my last drink of water after the fill. I didn't realize I had done that, I was just trying to get the nasty tasting water down.

    Nausea after first fill

Today was my first fill. He told me he had put 3cc in my 10cc band at the time of surgery. But that the 3 cc's "just filled in between the edges of the ballon inside the band!" He put 1.5 cc's in after numbing the site and then he had me sip the glass of Water. Everything went great, but then when I got up and walked out to the receptionist area I felt nausea. I though it was because the water tasted so bad. I was then taken back to the exam room and my Doctor came back in and asked what had happened. I told him and he had me take a few sips of the flavored water I had with me. It went down fine and I sat a bit longer since the nausea eased up a bit. I finally all went away when I had some clear broth at lunch time. I'm hoping I have a good restriction. My doctor did warn me that after I have my day of clears and mushies and after I'm back on regular food, that I will have to take it easy for Breakfast and have a smoothing or Protein shake first thing in the morning and have something more substantial midmorning. He said that the band is alot tighter right after waking up. Have any of you had this happen after a fill? Thanks

  18. we all know this band is a tool and we have to work with it to stay on track and to achieve our goals. I have no restriction righ now and am measuring everything to stay on track along with a daily food, Water and exercise journal. But I admit I have times in my day that I'm not hungry or crave something and just want to eat it. What do you do besides walk away and just say no? I drink a glass of ice water and wait I have two boys 2 and 3 and they do alot of coloring, painting and such so I just started coloring. I really wanted some Dove Easter eggs my sons had left in their baskets...so instead I decided to color a page inone of their coloring books. so I have decided to do that, color when I feel like wavering from my plan....And I have a thing about completing things so It usually takes me a good half hour depending on the book. I'm thinking about buying some starter kit painting supplies and easel this summer and paint while the boys are playing outside... I might even find another calling. lol what do you do that is not as ordinary as drinking a glass of water, walking away and just saying NO?

    When will it work??

I have my first fill tomorrow and I'm hoping I get some restriction. I wonder what criteria they use to decide how big of a fill to do?

What food/drink do you miss the most?

I have always been a diet pepsi girl, but after having my second baby I tried Diet Mountain Dew and was hooked. I gave up soda last November when I started this process so I have really not craved it..that was until a friend was over and brought a pepsi with her. it was just for a few minutes and the craving was gone...lol
