@GlammieGrammie , I am Feb 4 as well! I am doing really well on the pre-op diet. Anxious for the big day. 1 week, 2 days to go! Are you starting Clear Liquids on the first? When are yo doing the dreaded laxative clean out?

I'm getting the hang of of this

How are the surgical sites doing? What are you doing to take care of them? Can't find any real info on this subject, and as a pre-opper going in on Feb 4, these are the questions I need answers to! I live kinda rural and need to have everything I might need on hand before surgery. Thanks! -
January 7, 2015 was my surgery. Looking for a mentor.

Syntrax offers a sample pack of their nectar Protein mixes. 15-18 packs for under $20 delivered. You have to go to their website and get the 800 number to order though. -
Day 6 for me and yes, it gets easier! The no sugar/no coffee headache was horrible, but it let up around day 4. Smooth sailing for me so far! I am having an Arbonne chocolate shake for breakfast and lunch then a green salad with tuna or salmon or grilled chicken for supper. I try to eat the salad around 5-6 then have a Special K strawberry shake around 8 while watching tv. Oh, and I started adding 2 teaspoons of chia seeds and 1/2 a banana to my shakes. I think the add ins have really made a difference in making me feel fuller. Going to a restaurant in Galveston tonight to celebrate a friends birthday. Guido's is famous for their toasted garlic-butter bread rounds, this is going to be brutal! I am going to they to focus on how delicious my iced water and tossed salad with boiled shrimp is........

For those going to Mexico. Who is going with you?
mdlange replied to jillstl's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
My hubs is going with me. We will be there Feb 3-8. Staying at the Marriott, surgery at Vida hospital. If these dates are the same as yours, I will be glad to share my time/hubby with you! -
Syntax offers a "sample" pack of all of their nectar flavors. I think you get 15-18 packets for under $20 delivered. You have to go thru their website though. I ordered mine Monday. Looks like a good way to find a flavor you like before committing to purchasing a whole container.

You will love Grand Cayman. We were there last year and really enjoyed ourselves. Bring your sun-block! I guess my main problem is keeping this a secret from the kids. We have 4 grown sons and 3 daughter in laws and we are a very close knit family. They are all doing their own things, busy with kids, jobs, and I just do not want the boys to be worrying about their momma. I have a fantastic husband who is totally supportive and agrees with the no-tell decision. We live at the beach and a crowd of them are headed this way later today. I have to be able to pull off the mom's on a strict diet routine! Mom has never been on a diet that they know of, so things are going to get interesting.

@@Justajenn, how are you feeling today?

POST OPPERS! Damn auto correct!
-
But, most post-boppers are saying that your "taste" changes after surgery. The Syntrax nectar sample pack seems like a good idea since it will give you 18 flavors to try. Less than $20. And consider a flavorless high pro mix-in that you can add to whatever you are getting to go down after surgery.

And, hey, you are NOT alone! We are all right here, in the same place you are, having the same worries. Reach out to a veteran. Look at their info under their names and message someone who looks like you/your situation. I did. She has been fantastic. Totally wide open. There is zero TMI factor! She even told me to bring extra cheap underwear as she went the diarrhea direction instead of the constipation route. Those are the gory details us pre-oppers need! And I am on here all the time. Buddies, right?

I bought a gummy multi Vitamin with a little Fiber from Walmart, bought Calcium and Iron chewable from Celebrate Vitamins. I stocked up on different pre-made broths. I bought a taste-free protein add-in called GENEPRO on Amazon(to add to any water, broths,Gatorade I can tolerate post-op) and found that I like a Protein shake from Arbonne Essentials. I just ordered the nectar sample pack from Syntax yesterday, 18 different flavors to try. A veteran from this site told me to have something on hand for the surgical incisions, like tips, neosporin, gauze and paper tape. Also, bring a pillow to hold over your stomach for the jolts on the ride home. I need to get some sugar-free Jello cups and sf popsicles (if I can keep the Hubs out of them!). I know this sounds like a lot, but we live rural and if I don't have it at the house, it takes an act of congress to get it! I get a little nuts about being prepared, my control issues run deep!

I will step on scales tomorrow and find out for sure. I started at 225, it will be interesting to see where the numbers are now.

I am using Alejandro Lopez at Vida Hospital.
-
Much better! I think I have hit the "sweet spot" in this diet! No more headache, no more weariness. I actually thought I was getting sick for a few days there. But, now everything is going just fine. And, I haven't stepped on the scales yet, but I KNOW I have lost weight! The top roll under my boobs is much smaller! Had to snap my bra on the next set of hooks this morning! YAY!
-
How's everything going? I am 10 days out and getting antsy!
-
I am dealing with the headache too. And lethargy! I just tumble around the house, no focus. I really feel for those that have to go to work everyday on the pre-op diet! Hang in there everyone!
-
I have been doing a lot of research on the supplements/vitamins they expect us to take post diet. The Nut is really pushing the Celebrate package of vitamins at $245. I bought a gummy multi with fiber at Walmart, and some sublingual B-12. I did order the calcium chews and iron chews from Celebrate, but only because I couldn't find them any where else. I am still under $100, and I have everything that is in the $245 Celebrate pack.
-
What can you have on your diet? We have to stick to the shakes for 2 meals and salad w/protein for supper routine.
-
Charlotte, you summed up my experience to a T! I have also decided not to tell anyone. I am going to Tijuana to have mine done and I just do not want to handle all the negative comments! I am set for the day after you, so lets keep in touch thru all this! Good luck and Enjoy that shake today!
-
I am Feb 4 and am on the pre-op as well. I get to have veggies all day and a salad with a protein in the evening. Shakes for breakfast and lunch. I am adding a banana and 2 teaspoons of chia seeds to the shakes (approved/recommended by the nut) and I am not even hungry! But, I am woozy, lightheaded, dizzy. I think it is sugar withdrawal! I am a huge sugar freak!
-
Hi! I am having VSG on Feb 4 in Tijuana! How's your pre-op diet going?
-
So, have you started your pre-op diet yet? I am day-3 and it's not so bad....
