It is on the WE Channel....I sure hope they follow up on the woman that wasn't losing. I'm anxious to see how she is doing. But I didn't think her husband was taunting her....her job was tasting food, I think. Carrie

How fast after post-op did you get *romantic*?
Carrie Daniels replied to lboraud's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Give it up, Linsey...just be careful and no hanging from chandeliers!! Carrie 7/25/05 -
Andrea - I think the doctors just want to make us healthy people. And caffeine and smoking and drinking alcohol keep us from being as healthy as they want us to be! I also feel that's why they encourage us to drink so much water.... Carrie 7/25/05

My doctor told me to wait 1 hour after eating. I drink 16 oz. first thing in the morning, before breakfast. Then make sure I drink at least 24 oz. before lunch. Then 24 oz. before supper. I try not to drink much after supper because I hate having to get up and pee all night long. Water is a real problem for me....I drink flavored water (Propel), Crystal Light, and Minute Maid diet Mango drink.

Butt Naked about every 10 days at home in the morning after I pee. In the doctor's office I wear the lightest clothes I have and I take off my shoes. Carrie 222/195.5/125

I live on Lake Conroe, 50 miles north of Houston, and had mine done at Herman Hospital in the Medical Center by Dr. Terry Scarborough. He is a great doctor and the fee includes 1 year of fills. Carrie 222/197/125 Banded 7/25/06

So I went on a Gastric bypass site and...

I don't even know why there is an argument. Everyone chooses what they think is right for themselves. I applaud anyone who is finally doing something to become healthier, whether it is GB or LB. Good for us all! Carrie 7/25/05 222/197/125 -
Hi There - Dr. Scarborough is also my doctor. I got my band on 7/25/05. I have lost 22 lb. Dr. Scarborough does not like you to lose too much too fast. Five pounds a month is all he wants. If you lose more then he doesn't give you a fill. I really like him and his assistant Connie. I have had 3 fills and still do not feel a lot of restriction. I just can't seem to tell when I am full. I think it should come after 4 or 5 fills. I have 2 cc in a 4 cc band. It is very weird, because I have fell "off the wagon" 2 different times and I was also a bottomless pit. However, when I have eaten too much of a balanced meal, I feel totally full. It is very strange. The belching may be your body telling you that it is full and to stop eating. Sometimes I get the hiccups and I believe that is a sign to stop also. Good Luck, Carrie 222/199/125

Food list answer yes or no please
Carrie Daniels replied to jillrn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree - there is no correct answer. You are going to have to find out what you can and cannot tolerate as you go along. My diet consists of everything I cook for my family. I just eat smaller servings. In fact, I would guess that I am eating less than half of what I was. Works for me! Carrie 222-199-125 -
We waited about a week.....just do what you intuition tells you. (No hanging from chandeliers, though!) Carrie 222/200/125

We've all been there! Just remember tomorrow is a new day. Be sure not to get on the scale....you may have a little Fluid gain or something like that. Don't dwell on it and you will be fine.... Good Luck, Carrie 222/200/125

Need advice, what did you wear on day of surgery?
Carrie Daniels replied to AnotherMe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wore stretch pants and baggie tshirt. I got there at 5:30 am and was home by noon. I didn't wear my panties or bra going home..... -
Texas State Fair and Fletcher's Corny Dawgs
Carrie Daniels replied to banded_for_life's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh my gosh! I forgot about the fried twinkie I had last year....Delicious....but I can resist. Now, the Fletcher's Corndog is a different thing. I was going to just eat a couple of bites and then let my hubby have the rest. I hope I can follow through!!! -
The amount of food some can & can't eat baffles me.
Carrie Daniels replied to Kathy473's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I can also eat a lot if I want.....I have always had to stop when I thought I should be full. I've never felt full. Even the 2 times when I fell off the wagon and binged for an afternoon, I never felt too full or limited. I don't get it at all! Carrie 7/25/05 222/201/125 -
I don't follow any diet. I have learned over the years that I'm not very good at that. I eat Protein and veggies for my meals. I only eat on a saucer so that I don't overload my plate. It works for me. I just cook for my husband and eat the same things. Whatever works for a person is what they should use. I estimate that I am probably eating less than half of what I used to eat. It is almost embarrassing in a way because we have so much more leftovers than before. A loaf of bread lasts a week. I usually end up throwing it out or giving it to the ducks. Carrie 222/201/125

Quick & easy recipes.........
Carrie Daniels replied to Jessiebear's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jessiebear or anyone else. I have been looking for a good homemade spaghetti sauce recipe for ages. I just want a plain All-American recipe. Not with heavy spices. Surely someone has a good recipe like their grandmother used to make. Jessiebear---I made your sour cream enchiladas and they were delicioius........thank you so much. -
I am finding out that I may be one of those that cannot eat bread. I got a grilled chicken sandwich when we went out to eat and after 3 bites my throat and chest began hurting. A couple of weeks later, I tried it again from a different place, but the hurting began again. I stopped eating... I can eat saltines. Tried them twice. I also ate a blueberry muffin and it was fine. Go figure! Carrie 222/202/125 7/25/05

gurgling noises, burping and tooting
Carrie Daniels replied to piperbaby's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think that may be an individual thing. I didn't have any gas from the get-go. I rarely hear a gurgle, and I've probably burped 6 times in my entire life! Carrie 7/25/05 222/202/125 -
I had mine in Houston, Dr. Terry Scarborough. Memorial Hermann was $10,000.00 and Dr. Scarborough was $5,900. This includes 1 year of followups and fills. I was outpatient.

I've never had a PB. I've never slimed. Nothing. I have had 2 fills. It seems that when I got a grilled chicken sandwich once at a restaurant my chest started to hurt. I immediately quit eating. I think I may be one of those people who can't eat bread.... Carrie 222/202/125

Are you a closet bandster? & Do you regret your decision?
Carrie Daniels replied to Time to love me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I didn't tell anyone but my husband (of course) and my daughter because my husband doesn't drive so I needed her to take me. I did not want to hear everybody's opinion about weight loss. We've all heard it for many years. I'm glad I am keeping it to myself. Carrie 222/204/125 -
My doctor says NO eating l/2 hour before meals and 1 hour after meals. It isn't really hard for me. I have to force myself to drink 64 oz. during the day.

Is this a normal request?
Carrie Daniels replied to englishgordon's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have never heard of having to lose 30 lb. prior to surgery. A lot of surgeons put you on a liquid diet for a time before surgery. I think the purpose of this is to shrink the liver a little bit. The liver kind of laps over the top of the stomach. But most people lose 7-10 pounds, not 30. I had my surgery in Houston and Dr. Scarborough does not require a pre-op diet. I was self-pay, too. I paid $10,000 to the hospital and $5,900 to Dr. Scarborough which includes 1 year followup and fills. Good Luck, Carrie 222/204/125 7/25/05 -
It sounds like the port to me, too. I noticed that around 3-1/2 weeks, my port went down. Now I can only find it if I poke around. Be patient-when you go for your checkup the doctor will know if something is up! Good Luck, Carrie 7/25/05 222/206/125
