    Postop nausea

I was just sleeved on 12/15. I don't know why I didn't think that this would be a problem, probably because I Was so excited. Anyway, the first day I couldn't even tolerate water. I was on an IV for two days, then I was fine. They gave me everything under the sun for nausea. It turned out that my IV was bad. The medication and fluids were infusing into the tissues instead of the vein. So, my friend that works in the ER where I was at came up and put the IV in my boob! Really! It was the only vein available and it was large. My arm where my old IV was swelled a little and I had some chills. After my new IV was put in, I was feeling better in about an hour. I started urinating more and was no longer nauseated. So, some advice for future for those of you who are having WLS and have post op nausea that is out of control, have the nurse check your IV. I have been a nurse for 22 years and I have never seen an IV infiltrate like that. Usually there is severe swelling, redness and pain. Now I'm worried about constipation. Any advice? I'm not constipated yet, but I don't want to even go there!

    Effexor And Surgery

I take Prozac, serequil, and clonazepam and trileptal for Bipolar. I have to have my medications or my bipolar anxiety kicks in. My psych doc changed my meds to all crushable forms (very important. If you are on an XR, SR med, it cannot be crushed!). I took my meds on schedule post op in the hospital crushed. They were nasty! But if I crush them up really fine and mix them with water, I can take them like I'm taking a shot of booze. Then walk it off. Takes about 30 minutes to take my pills every night. Don't mix them together, that makes them really nasty! Never go off your psych meds. You won't know what hit you.

    Postop nausea

Try Gas X strips three times a day. They are magic. The belching is actually better than keeping the gas in, but Gas X strips just take it away.

    Stomach spasms?

Yes. I had the spasms for about 3 days. It helped if I got up and walked after taking a drink.
  7. Isopure 40 gram protein water. Awesome and pure. GNC.

    Post op sucks!

I agree. I actually brought makeup and cute PJs to the hospital for Postop. I was in a hospital gown the entire time and could care less what I looked like. The nurse even combed my greasy hair! I was a mess.

    So much pain.

I had a horrible post op experience. I was sleeved on 12/15. I could not tolerate any pain medication due to severe nausea. The only thing that helped me was walking and moving around. It was very painful, but I knew if I didn't move, the muscles would get sore. I take walks around my house many times a day and insist on getting in and out of bed by myself. Splint your tummy with a firm pillow. That really helped me. Good luck and remember "this too, shall pass."

    Operated dec. 3, 2014

I loved water before surgery, now it's all I can do to get it down. I switched to Isopure protein water. 40 grams of protein in 22 ounces. Has a flavor, but not too sweet. All natural. I highly recommend it. You can get it at GNC. It's pricy, but worth it.

    Scars are red and itchy

My incisions became red and itchy on post op day 2. They were really red! I thought I was going to get septic and panicked. My WBCs were fine. My doc said it was probably a reaction to the glue, but they were healing ok. If your incisions are warm with drainage, you may have an infection. The warmth is the key. Also, if u are infected, u may have a fever unless you are taking pain medications with Tylenol, which would suppress the fever. You should notify your Doc.

    Dec. 15th anyone?

My husband went through my closet and organized my clothes by size. Size 26 all the way done to a size 10. I was so glad that he did that for me. After surgery I can just blow through the big sizes and bag them up to give away as I go!

    Dec. 15th anyone?

December 15th! Almost there. Going to give it 100% on my preop diet(cheated a little last week) and my goal is to exercise daily. This preop stuff is difficult. Post op is going to be difficult as well. Hang in there guys! Soon you will be bagging up your fat clothes FOREVER!
  15. My surgery date is 12/15. The preop diet sucks. Hopefully I won't be so hungry after surgery.

    Pre-op diet

Has anyone cheated on the preop diet. I have been on it since Monday 12/1. My surgery is 12/15. I have cheated a little bit each day and I feel guilty!
