  3. @@blondebomb thanks for the support day 18 and man it's still rough but as I've been reading on here i know the 1st month it's the hardest hurdle to get through. I'm trying to stay as positive as i can and hubby bless his soul is putting up with all my grouchyness. He's been very helpful and supportive. And yes I'm really just trying to drink as much as I can. Again thanks for the support!

@@Ivanova8 lol thanks i am up and about as much as i can. And i did have a private room and lot's of visitors. Yes i can't complain about the team at TWH they were awesome. Btw you can have ice cream right after surgery it just has to be sugar free. I have some and it taste the same to me....well i think I've been on sugar free for so long that i don't even know anymore lol. I think you'll be fine with the 2 weeks of opti. It was really hard though for me and i couldn't stomach 4 a day!
  5. So I'm 17 days post op and have been trying the puree food slowly as it's hard to get much more than water down. I've been tracking my food on fitness pal and I'm only having about 300 calories a day. Is this normal or ok???

Quick question are you guys still losing weight though even though your intake is low?
  8. freshair

    Only 300 calories

I feel you on the sweet aspect I'm so tired of "sweet" stuff I've been trying to get some soup or broth for the savory taste but than the after taste in my mouth also sucks. I'm constantly brushing my teeth now lol
  9. I can relate my biggest fear is all the saggy skin and what am i really gonna look skinny. I'm only 2 weeks post op and have started to regret it, but most threads I've read here say that it gets better and we will love our new bodies. Fingers crossed they are saying the truth
  10. Hey same here i had a DKA and was insulin dependent but i stopped insulin in the pre op stage dr. Advised me not to take insulin if my numbers were under 6 which they were and have been since the pre op diet. So yay no more insulin no more metphormen etc. Onlyy issue I've had was about 1st week post op my number were always 4.0 4.2 4.1 which i than was advised to drink some juice with a little water so i didn't get a low blood sugar. Im 2 weeks post op and doing great with my non diabetes
  11. Couldn't have said it better myself! I'm 30 years old and I'm 2 weeks post op. I have been over weight since the age of 8 and have gone through all the cycles of losing gaining etc. My health started to take a turn gor the worst about 10 years ago when i was diagnosed with PCOS and honestly my 20's were a whirlwind of health issues and weight gain. But i have never hated myself because of my weight nor have i blamed my weight for what happened to me in life good or bad. The one thing i do recognize is that alot of my health issues were related to my obesity. Like my diabetes for example. I was diagnosed last year and was an insulin dependent diabetic (haven't had to use insulin since the pre op diet phase ) but again i have a girlfriend who didn't have health issues except being over weight and got the surgery done because she expected her whole life to change once she lost the weight she expected her husband to come back and everything to be just peachy. Well she has lost the weight and looks amazing but her husband didn't come back, her job didn't get any better, and honestly isn't even enjoying the attention she is getting from other men because they only want to sleep with her or use her. So is losing weight which ever way ypu accomplish it the answer to all your problems no it is not! I have been married for 7 years and have had peaks and valleys like most marriages I'm happy right now because my husband who is not overweight never has been, has been very supportive through this process just like all my other health issues I've gone through. My husband has never put me down verbally about my weight or anything else that's just how he is. Have i joked that I'm gonna leave him once the weight comes off, yes i have but i noticed about the 3rd time I said it (Which i wouldn't because I love him and habe no desire to be with anyone else) that he did kind of believe it and he seemed hurt so i will no longer joke about that. I guess I'm lucky that my weight has never been an issue in our marriage at least that he has ever ever showed me. We have been together for 12 Years and married for 7. I'm hoping this journey only brings us closer. But again who knows how he might feel or see me once the weight is off. Best of luck to all of us taking this courageous journey and best wishes to all your marriages.

    Any Canadians? Ontario?

@@Ivanova8 he yes the wait was stressful i thought I'd have surgery within 6 months becasue that's what I was told. But again i had a lot of health issues so i understand the stalls. Dr. Urbach was good i had some complications after surgery and my first day out i had to get an other procedure done, i wasn't doing well so the went back in to see what was going on inside that was making me so sick. You can pm me and i can give you more details. Dr. Urbach did come see me but so did a lot of other surgeons in the team. I have been in hospitals alot but never ever have i had an amazing staff team lije the ones at TWH! The nurses and over all staff team on the 9th floor were amazing they took such great care of me. My first week was spent in the hospital so I've only been home for 10 days and i must say i feel great! Only really just concentrating on staying hydrated right now and gonna start trying puree little by little. Optifast was a big challenge for me! I was on for 3 weeks and man it was tough. I have to admit i cheated about on day 7 couldn't handle it. But my liver was excellent according to Dr. Urbach so i guess that one night of pizza pizza wings didn't hurt the process. But i still feel guilty avout it. I also should tell you i had a lot of food funerals before i started optifast. Inwas very excited about surgery pre op post op I've had my days, I've been up and down and all around but based on what I've read here that's completely normal. Let's stay in touch

    Any Canadians? Ontario?

Hey all I'm from Toronto and i just had my RNY surgery on December 1st. I too went through the TWH and honestly they are the best bariatric clinic in canada based on all the research I've done. It took me from orientation to surgery a year and a half due to complications i was a smoker and had other surgeries in between which pushed back some appointments also the sleep apnea test took forever! I would love to keep in touch with you guys don't know how much mentoring i can do as I'm only 2 weeks post op but ya would love for all us TWHers to keep in touch. Fyi i met my surgeon the day of surgery, i met with i guess the surgeons assistant and nurse when i got my surgery date. My surgeon was Dr. Urbach
  15. Hey all Had my RNY on December 1st. Had a bit of complications but today is day 16 and I'm feeling sooo much better! Still struggling with protien intake and drinking enough. Tried a little puree tuna with saltine crackers today and it was ok but have had an after taste all day. Really haven't been hungry though. Tomorrow I'll try more puree options and maybe an egg. Glad we're all in the sane stages hope to keep in touch

    Wedding dress wls 1st yr

Wait as long as you can to pick a dress and make sure it's a place that will do alterations and a dress that can be altered. I would do last fitting at least 2 weeks before wedding. Also have a conversation with the store about your potential weight loss. Congrats!!

    2 weeks down

I start my puree food tomorrow! I'm excited also 2 weeks post op. Keep us updated love thos cause i have a buddy now
  19. What i was explained is that when you get the bandbor sleeve your body is still absorbing calories glucose fat and everything else as it normally would because you still have your pylorus and duodenum functioning. Unlike bypass which helps you lose weight due to mal absorbtion and malnutrition, hence why all the vitamins and nutrients we need to continue to take. If you are still in taking high calories you will lose much slower or if not exercising enough and not getting enough calories your body will go in starvation mode and hoard all your calories and fat. Again all things that were explained to me by the bariatric team. Had RNY 12 / 01 / 14
