I was sleeved 19 Dec so am 8 days post op. I took before pics on 17 Dec and took pics today and compared and my stomach is bigger now than before the sleeve. The swelling seems to be around the lower part of my stomach. I read the swelling usually lasts 5-7 days. I know its still early days but wondering if anyone else experienced this kind of swelling and how long it lasted! Thanks

I haven't read the rest of the comments but I was feeling sick all the time, couldn't eat and couldn't drink.... i looked at what if anything had changed and the nausea started when I went back on my contraceptive pill! I stopped taking the pill and no longer feel sick all the time or like I wanted to puke my guts up! Still need to talk to my surgeon about what to do now since me and this pill dont mix anymore!

Im 15 weeks post op and had my first sip of soft drink/soda the other day. I didn't die. I could feel the bubbles in my stomach so it was a weird sensation but not uncomfortable or anything like that. Think I had 3 sips over a couple of hours and that was enough as its too sweet now after not drinking it for 4 months. Each to their own, I say. Everyone is different!

You look amazing & happy! Good job!! -
I had a donut ... then came the worst cramping for about half an hour and then a visit to the toilet with more pain. I also drank and apple and guava juice and about 15 mins later, no pain, but trip to the toilet where it all came gushing out. Not pleasant but safe to say I wont ever touch either of those things again! My suggestion would be when you try something new make sure you're home or have access to a toilet - quick! Haha

Sorry - im confused. The only reason i said to the initial post was to look at why they were having surgery was because they said they wondered if they really needed it and didnt want to feel on a perm diet.... just thought if they went back to their initial reason that would help them confirm they want the surgery.

Maybe you need to look at what made you decide to have the surgery in the first place?

I sought the approval from my family as well. Its a natural thing to do and if they dont support you it can make you feel like its the wrong decision. You sound like you know its the right decision for you. Theres heaps of different reasons why he chose to yell at you. Like heaps of people say, the sleeve is a tool to help you lose weight. Dont put added pressure on yourself about what ifs for after the surgery. Just focus on yourself and what you need to do, to get you to that surgery date you cant let the lack of support from one person change what you clearly know you need to do. People turn to surgery because theyve tried the 'regular' way. In reality the stats show that only 5% of people who lose weight non surgically keep the weight off. Hence why so many people yo yo diet and add on more pounds than before. Different things work for different people - and the sleeve can work

What NSV are you look foward to?
Sassafrassa replied to Idonerds's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. Seeing my collar bones and waist again 2. Buying matching underwear that's actually nice 3. Being able to cross my legs, and my legs sitting flush when I do 4. Having more options on where to by clothes 5. Being able to go to theme parks and fit in the rides with my nieces 6. actually feeling attractive and not just being the girl with the cute face 7. Wearing heels dancing again 8. Being comfortable on a plane 9. Fitting into any kind of seat without being crushed by the arms or worried it will break 10. Feeling like a normal girl not the fat one of the group! -
I feel unsupported... Can I do this by myself?
Sassafrassa replied to noorjenna's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
He may just be scared... either way that was a horrible thing to say to you. You can DEFINITELY do this with or without him supporting your decision. At the end of the day its your body and you have to live in it ... and the entire process is scary so trust in your decision and yourself. good luck!! -
all because I had pop :(
Sassafrassa replied to paristupperware's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep agree Find someone else!!!! I drank soda right up until my 2 week pre op diet and was allowed 1 diet coke a day on pre op. I had a diet coke maybe every second day and never usually finished it. But have not had coke since 5 dec. Thats super harsh for you! -

Are you post op?? You should be cleared to go back to a normal diet at around 7-8 weeks? It does seem very harsh for having 3 sodas! -
Australia - Premier protein shake
Sassafrassa replied to Sassafrassa's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I did wonder if Costco here had it. I should call and check tomorrow! Think i only had like 15g max of protein today. So bad -
Im nearly 7 weeks post op and was advised for salad to be one of the last thing to be reintroduced into my diet as it is hard to digest. I do miss a good salad though! I'll probably try one soon.

I had sushi at 5 weeks post op. Only had 1. It was chicken and avocado. I just took it slow! I was happy!

The important thing is you're making positive changes. Surgery doesn't stop us from being normal people who make bad decisions. Things happen, life happens. Props to you for sharing your story and good luck!

When will I kick the dieing of thirst
Sassafrassa replied to Queen P's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I hear ya! I'm pretty sure I'm dehydrated as we speak. Its been a super hot day here and all I want to do is scull ice cold water but I'm not a fan of water at the moment and I can't scull obviously! My nutrionist said i can have watermelon too. My liquid and protein intake is pretty shocking. Have you tried sports drinks with electrolytes in them? Maybe they will help. I find them a bit sweet at first. You could also try a smoothie with milk and some fruit - and if you add protein powder its fluid and protein, just need to find a mix that works for you. I personally like banana spinach milk and a tiny bit of peanut butter. -
SCARS - getting rid of them
Sassafrassa replied to Chrisi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon recommended bio oil and was happy with me just using vitamin e. I just rub it all over my stomach in the hope it can help strengthen my skin overall rather than the scars. Im not as bothered by my scars as i thought i would be, which is good! I'm 5 weeks post op so theyre still very much visible - will be interesting to see what they look like at 12 months. I hope you find something that works for you! -

What did I just eat...

Chocolate is considered to be a liquid as it melts in your stomach I wouldn't stress about. -
My opinion is no matter what forum we post in, the nature should only be supportive! Considering this is the men's forum, men should be able to speak openly about their concerns about ANYTHING and not get blasted by anyone. Be supportive people!

Soon to be sleeved - Australia, QLD
Sassafrassa replied to Kaela Winning's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good luck ladies!!! Im 3 weeks post op on Friday. I've had some challenging days but it's good to know that its not finite when you do have troubles along the way. You just need to feel what you feel and work through it and move on...that's what I'm learning anyway. -
Cheated and now I'm paying for it.
Sassafrassa replied to Countrygrrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's hard to change old habits so don't beat yourself up. Maybe look at the things in your life that cause you stress and what you can do to change it Just remember that eventually we have to take responsibility for what we do even when we are responding to someone elses behaviour. Its tough! Good luck -
Ive lost 12 kilos and was away from work for 3 weeks and when I returned to work today no one said anything.
