Most insurance companies follow the guidlines of the American Bariatric Society as far as apprpriate criteria for who should or should not obtain bariatric surgery. My suggestion would be to check out the website of the ABS and see if there are any studues w/results about the efficaciy of lap-band in folks with higher BMIs. Hope this helps. Tal
