  1. When I joined, I was told by my surgeon that bariatric pal was a good place to go for support. I am extremely disappointed in how people are talked by by some members for simply being human and feeling free to ask. I am aghast the attreatment and shaming this person received, esp when her response was they "have always been weak and have no life" you people should be ashamed. And if you are not a support group...what are you?. I have gotten some good advise on this site, but yesterday's action sealed it for me. No thank you.
  2. I don't believe I said anything about going along with breaking ones diet. I just think this person was not treated as they should have been for asking a question. If people aren't here for support and information, what are they here for? I find this very disappointing and I will not be back
  3. I'm kind of shaking my head because of the scolding this person got for asking a question. I understand your thinking but this is a forum for support not a browbeating.

    Am I losing quickly enough?

I had my surgery on 12/15/15. I am down 36 pounds since surgery and 47 from the start. I'm thinking that's about where we should be.
  5. Thelastchance, I'm a critical care nurse. I went back at 3 weeks post op...on my feet all the time, lots of moving about and lifting. I did fine. I did wear an abdominal binder for the first couple of weeks though. It helped a lot

    Night shift after surgery...

Good luck. I think you'll find it easier to be consistent.

    Night shift after surgery...

Lofairy.....I really struggle to get in all the water as well. I usually am not successful but so far I'm not dehydrated.

    Night shift after surgery...

Andio7. Yes, because I work 6pm till 630 am it's easier for me to be consistent between my work and my days off. It's really hard to switch back and forth between sleeping during the day and eating at night when I work to the opposite on my days off. Midnight to midnight works better for me
  9. Yes, I 'do my on thing' in the pool, but I always feel inferior. ...lol

    Night shift after surgery...

What helps me most to keep track is starting my count of protein grams and water at midnight. I work 6pm - 6:30am. I keep the same count schedule on my days off as well.
  11. Lol...I guess, but it's no different tHan the past 35 years and it still seems like I'm out of shape

    Night shift after surgery...

Bunyip... No. When you work night shift your life is constant back and forth. At least twice a week I am up 36 hours before I sleep. It's hard to keep track. It's never the next day till I sleep, no matter if it's in 10 hours or 36. This will make sense to other nightshifters
  13. I understand. I'm 61, work full time and have spinal stenosis, bulging disks and bad knees. It's really hard to feel like exercising after a 12 hour shift which is what I work. My back is usually killing me by then. I do walk a lot most nights at work. I bought a pedometer and found that I average 3-4 miles a night when working. I just have to call it good at that. On my off days i try to get out and walk a couple if miles knees and back permitting. I tried water aerobics...can't do them, too much twisting and bending for my spinal stenosis. Better for the knees though.
  14. I'm a critical care nurse. I went back at 3 weeks. No problems. You should be fine

    Cards when eating in restaurants?

I have the card but I've been splitting a meal with my husband on the few times I've eaten out. If he's really hungry we order an extra side order of something which is cheaper than me getting a whole meal I can't eat. I'm bad about taking food home and throwing it away two days later so I try not to do that.
