Went in for my 1 week post-op check up and to get my staples taken out today and was happy to see that I'm already 9 lbs down...even on my period (started last night)...so I imagine having lost a little more with the extra Fluid and bloat gone after. Still in a good amount of pain/discomfort but I'm keeping active as well as resting when I can. Thankfully, I have the luxury and blessing of having my mom close enough to take my 14-month daughter at night when my hubby is at work so I don't have to attempt picking her up and keeping up after a toddler. Sure makes those rare cuddles from her all the better❤️???? Starting a new job next week then a nursing program in January...busy, busy, busy, but that's how I used to roll and I can't wait to get back into my groove (I'm already feeling the 'want' again). Finding it difficult to eat refried Beans, cottage cheese, eggs, etc. The feeling that it's stuck in my throat is far from comfy. However, my favorite thing I've found so far is this steel-cut oatmeal that is maple and brown sugar flavored. Much to thirsty to really want to eat anything, but all the cravings are there that I can't have right now...but even when I think of the cravings for long, they start to sound gross. Beefy Mushroom Soup by Campbell's (mushrooms taken out) has been kind and my favorite Water flavor is Tropical Coconut by Crystal Light. ~Happy Losing and Happy Holidays!!

Christmas Day Update
anewbeginning12414 replied to anewbeginning12414's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you for your suggestion! -
Week 3 post-op, have lost 31 lbs! Last night was my last available dose of pain medicine, but I need suggestions if what to take that isn't horribly huge, perhaps chewable or liquid, and can be split or crushed if needed. I'm still having this great pain only in the spot my stomach was taken out of. The outside is fine and healing well, but the inside feels like someone is tearing me and burning me with a lighter when I move! Though the pain is present, it's a good feeling knowing that this has been my first holiday season that I'm LOSING weight rather than GAINING! It's been a great couple of days celebrating with my family...Christmas has been so much more fun with having a little person of our own to shop for!!

What an inspiration! You look great! -
I've reached my 2-week mark post-op and have lost 20 pounds so far. I'm finding it hard to eat, or rather, it's hard to find the desire to eat. On the other hand, I am OBSESSING over this imaginary tall glass of ice cold Water that I am only able to DREAM of guzzling down! I'm drinking as much as I can manage in a days time, but am dry-mouthed and craving more! I'm also still very sore, but only in the area they took my stomach out. Over the past couple if days, I feel I've regressed. I'm back on pain medication (I try only to use at bedtime) and guarding my sore spot. I realize it's only been two weeks after an abdominal surgery and I've been utilizing all this energy that's slowly flooding back into me with to-dos around the house and for the holidays...I guess I just need to take it a little easier. I must say that it has been exhilarating watching my weight go from my heaviest of 321 down to 300 today! My first goal has almost been met (getting under 300)! Time for pain medication and some much needed sleep!

Week 2 & 20 Down

Hope you are feeling better on your way to healing. As for me, pain is still there but pushing past it in order to get things done. I'm thinking it's just abrasions that keep stretching as I move. Ugh, but the benefits will outweigh this pain!! -
My Ongoing Story :)
anewbeginning12414 replied to Beckyyb93's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You are in my prayers and I hope better days are coming soon for you. Taking time off from school is a hard thing to do, but your health and mind need rest and healing, and you are wise to know you needed to listen to your body. I've had to drop a nursing program once already due to health issues outside if being sleeved, and am still battling depression myself with a load of my own personal chaos, but hang on to your hope. You have a great support team in your family there and your family here! I'm new to this myself, being sleeved on Dec 4, 2014, so I don't have much advice or experience, but I can relate in other ways...and am here for you...rooting for answers and good news! -

????????????you look great and your happiness shows! Congrats! -
I started my period soon after being sleeved as well and it wasn't kind to my healing process. 35 pounds is great! Keep in mind, since you are on your period, there is Water weight to consider as well. The healing process differs for everyone...take it easy and be proud of your progress! Best of feelings to you!

Won't be able to sleep tonight knowing in just ~9 hours, I'll be going through the first steps of a lifestyle change!! After a year's worth of work, it's an off feeling it's finally drawing to an end. If it wasn't already obvious to me that I'm stressing with nerves, among other things, I've been having dreams that my teeth are falling out!! I'm actually very disappointed in myself for the way I've handled my liquid diet for the past 3 weeks that I was recommended to do. Though, I'll say I've drank more than I've eaten, I've cheated more than I can I count on my hands (eggs, Soups with veggies in it, thanksgiving dinner...and leftovers,etc.). I do so knowing life won't be the same after. food has also been a huge comfort for me; college finals, job interview, managing home finances and other mommy/wife duties has proven to be almost too much! I've had numerous surgeries in the past near this weight laparoscopically in the past without fasting or dieting beforehand, so I'm praying hard tonight that I won't be hating myself tomorrow, but only the expected discomfort after the surgery! I've watched 2 family members have great success with their sleeves throughout this year and can't wait to share in the experience. Stopping all liquids at 10, then cleaning house and packing for overnight to keep myself busy!! Wish me luck!

9 Hours and Counting!
anewbeginning12414 replied to anewbeginning12414's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Surgery was perfect! Feeling sore only where the drain is. Get extremely nauseas after I chew ice or morphine. The awesome nurses are giving medicine to help ease the discomfort. Just walked the halls???? Tired now. Hard to believe this day has come and almost gone! The pain I am feeling now is only temporary! Because of the anesthetics, I'm a cry baby too! ???????? -
9 Hours and Counting!

I looked up what teeth falling out in dream meant, the result was anxiety, a significant change, a time of transition, and/or knowing you said something you didn't mean to. Interesting, huh?!
