  1. I am so glad to hear people say they use a straw. I've been avoiding it because I was told not to use it, but I have concentrated so much on sipping that I end up holding the liquid in my mouth for a few seconds before remembering to swallow -- which doesn't feel good! I think the straw will help me drink more.

    Regret

I've struggled w regret far longer than I ever anticipated. Much of this is because 5 weeks after my surgery I had to move cross country. The 4-day trip along with my husband's job layoff and then trying to find a place to move into once we arrived here has brought significant upheaval on its own. I have that along with the surgery and the inability for a couple of weeks to control when I ate and what I ate. Finally things are stabilizing. But had I known all this was coming, I would not have done it. I have lost some weight but not so much that it feels worth it. Hoping soon I will start feeling better.

    Plateau already?!

Sorry - if you have hypothyroidism, you are usually prescribed levothyroxine or synthyroid. These drugs can be affected by the malabsorption issue, from what I understand.

    Plateau already?!

I'm 2 weeks post-op and have lost a whopping 6 lbs. Sure hope it gets better because right now it doesn't seem worth the trouble. I am a "lightweight" -210 on surgery date - and I know I won't lose as rapidly as someone who has more to lose. I'm now wondering if the malabsorption has significantly affected by hypothyroid meds and I'll now need a higher dose. Sigh.
