    Call the Bariatrics police!

Some people will insist on drinking days after surgery regardless of the research. Don't waste your time.

    Call the Bariatrics police!

Lord people are still not getting it. Having 7 alcoholic drinks 2-4 weeks out of surgery and having a 2oz moscato 2 months out are two different things. This is not an attack on alcohol but rather... You know what I'm tired of repeating myself. Enjoy everyone!

    Call the Bariatrics police!

Sigh! If folks can't see the problem with downing multiple alcoholic beverages just 2 weeks after surgery then they will never see the light. Our posts were not from a judgmental state it was more from a shock and concern state, maybe a bit of anger too. But hey it's your body, do you!

    Call the Bariatrics police!

The problem is not that the person veered off course. We will all do that. The problem was the person consumed a dangerous amount of alcohol/food days after their surgery, which could have seriously danger that person's recovery, health, and life. Although im glad that person is fine, I do not want anyone reading this to think that person's actions are acceptable. Some people read this form to see how far they can push their surgery. Someone reading that this person consumed xyz and was fine means they can do the same and be fine. Again what is done is done but I felt the need to respond out of concern to the future sleevers.

    Call the Bariatrics police!

Just because one can drink 6 glasses of alcohol weeks after surgery and be "fine" after does not mean one did not cause damage to their sleeve or self. This is when the slippery slope begins. Oh I had 6 glasses of alcohol and I'm good so it's ok! Let me try again! Oh I can have 6 glasses of alcohol and still lose weight so that means I did good today. Some of these post are concerning indeed. Trust me I'm no alcohol police. I'm 3 months out and have had a glass of wine twice. And plan to certainly drink A glass of wine during special occasions and social gatherings in the future but I wouldn't have dare compromised my healing process by downing alcohol 2 weeks after surgery which is a critical part of healing. My post is not to judge or make anyone feel bad because what is done is done this post comes from pure concern of some of the dangerous actions taking by some.
  6. So all is going well with the eating. I love that I'm eating less and losing *clap* *clap*. But now 7 weeks out, I need an alcoholic beverage. I have one of the most conservative programs and they advise no drinking EVER again. Well that's not going to happen. I meet with my dietitian next week and we need to set a realistic goal. I'm at the bar right now with friend as they sip on their wine and I just can't watch them weekend after weekend. If I'm allowed one glass of alcohol a weekend that would be amazing! Of course I would choose wisely and log the calories etc. Sorry I needed to rant as I sip my Water in the bar.

    Exciting first

I'm the same way. Bread and dessert doesn't appeal to me anymore. My stomach is so small and those food items seems so big. Who would of thunk that bread would be considered big lol

    Is anyone freezing?

Hmm at two months I'm not freezing. Is this something most people developed right after surgery or should I expect this down the road?

    6-7months post op

Yes at month 2 im just having meat and diary.. However, I just looked at my month 3 paperwork and I will be approved for fruit and veggies but it just cautions the portion size due to carbs. But since I'm on a fast weight loss track im just going to continue meat and diary for another 4 months or so. I'm 60pds from goal. Fruit and veggies are not bad but it may slow things down a bit. During my 6 month honeymoon phase I've decided to avoid them.

    6-7months post op

I'm only 2 months out but by you introducing carbs you might have put yourself in the maintenance phase. I was told to avoid the carbs, even the healthy ones until I hit goal or close to it and then I can start playing with fruits and veggies in my meal. But if you don't mind a slow weight loss then you can have your fruits and veggies and just add some more exercises.

    Fear of STRETCHING Sleeve!

Band07 I just took a look at one of your old post. It states that you are 175 but want to be 150 and you are considering a revision. No judgment, I'm just curious, are you considering surgery to lose 15pds? I didn't know at such a low BMI a revision could be done. Again, just asking. Your old post also states that you had the sleeve in 2013 and you have since gained 10 pounds. And that you have never really felt a restriction and can eat whatever you want... Is it possible that your surgery wasn't performed well or there is a decrease in its function because you are a revision from band?
  12. Really 22pds in 2 weeks and you think you are not losing enough??? That is one of the fastest weight loss Ive heard of. I wonder are doctors not giving patients realistic goals or are the patients setting unrealistic goals.
  13. I am 7 weeks out. I've been allowed to eat chicken and fish now for the past two weeks. But I still have not learned to eat slowly. I quickly down the chicken and fish because it goes down so easily and then after a few bites BOOM its stuck in my throat. I then spend the next 30 mins spitting saliva out of my mouth. I have never thrown up but I think my throat is so full that the saliva has no place to go but out of my mouth for 30 mins. I guess this is sliming. Ugh one day I guess I'll learn!
  14. Slimsoon1988

When will I learn to eat slowly?!?

Yeah I've never been one to throw up so I'm happy I don't but spitting for 30mins sucks too. Luckily every time this has happened I've been home alone. In the next week or two im going to start eating with friends. I must learn to slow down.
  15. Post in wrong place sorry

    I Want a Drink!

Yeah I'll most likely wait until after the summer. But water and vodka sounds like a great idea.

    I Want a Drink!

I'm definitely going to wait a bit longer. But I do need some wiggle room here. To tell a 26 year old to never drink again is tough. I've never been a big drinker but having a glass of wine with friends on the weekends would be worth the calories. That day I would hit the gym harder. I think these type of strict requirements should be based on the individual. For some, alcohol is a slippery slope.. However my slippery slope is ice cream and chips, which im staying away from like a plague.
  18. I'm 6 weeks out and I'm doing the elliptical 1-2 times a day in the gym.. I'm not sure if I'm 100% ready to start running so I've decided to wait until 8 weeks for that.
  19. Thanks I just bought some too.
  20. May I ask how far from surgery did you start drinking?
  21. I'm interested in this topic. I'm also interested hearing from people who actually drink. At 26 years old it's unrealistic to say I will never drink again. Yes it's high and calories and carbs but you log it and adjust your diet for that day. Currently, I'm a month out and I plan to have A drink on weekends once I get about 4 months out.

    Driving

I drove my 6th day and was back to work on my 7th. As long as you are not on any pain meds and you feel you can handle it, then drive slowly and do what you got to do.

    3 months out

Backed up means constipated. I eat cheese as well, but I eat a balanced diet of fruit and veg as well. OP seem to indicate that she was using cheese as her main Protein. That could lead to constipation. I see. Thanks for clarifying.
  24. Slimsoon1988

    3 months out

I'm starting to eat shredded cheese too. What does backed up mean?
  25. Many of my friends don't know about the surgery. At 3 weeks out im only allowed 2 tablespoons of mushy foods so I have been avoiding meeting up with friends for a few months now (pre-op diet). My friends go out to dinner ALL THE TIME. Since I'm always on a diet it won't be a shock to them if I just eat an appetizer. How long do you think it would take for me to eat out with friends and eat a small protein based appetizer without a problem? With the summer coming up I really want to break out of the isolation I've been in for almost a year.
