7 Months PO and need snack options
Slimsoon1988 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I'm 7 months post op and can eat more than I could months ago. My 3 meals a day are good and protein based. Up until now my snack has been a handful of peanuts during the afternoon. Over the months, one handful has turned into two, which turned into three, and then it became grazing on the whole bag. So I'm done with peanuts. Can someone please offer up snack ideas that I can purchase and snack on at work that will keep me full? I rather ideas that I can purchase at the supermarket not make in the kitchen. Thanks a lot! -

Thanks I'm going to check out trader joes for those eggs, my local market didn't have them. I agree the bars have too many carbs. I plan to eat them sparingly. Thanks I'll look up Quest Bars. -

Thanks everyone. I just bought some snack size tuna and crackers, string cheese, and Protein bars. Question- what is a good Protein Bar that you recommend? Also where can I find the preboiled eggs? -
So I'm 6 months post op and have lost 85 pounds. I'm finally fitting into medium shirts(gulp!) and inching closer to 36 waist jeans from a size 44. Today I have taken out all the clothes I can no longer fit and its a huge amount of clothes. Maybe 2-3 large garbage bags worth. What are some of your rules around clothing? With 30 more pounds to lose until I reach goal, I really hope to never ever wear these clothes again. But I'm very much aware that regain may happen in the future but I also don't believe in saving clothes waiting on a day that may or may not happen. Idk what to do!

No eating !

What you said! How do some people get approval for surgery is beyond. I hope the poster finds the help she needs. When her hair and teeth fall out due to not providing her body nutrients maybe that will be the aha moment she needs. But I hope it doesn't come to that. -
Donate or Save Clothes

Wow thanks everyone. I was leaning on saving them but you have all encouraged me to donate -
3 weeks out, no weight lost/help
Slimsoon1988 replied to sbg224's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you didn't weigh yourself right after surgery then it's possible that you could have gained weight due to the fluids. I've heard of people leaving the hospital over 10 pounds heavier. So actually you could have lost weight and may not know. -
Whichever doctor said that you can drink alcohol a month after surgery can I please have his/her name and practice? Thanks in advance.

Are you asking us if it's ok to drink alcohol 15 days after you had major stomach surgery??!?

3+years out milestone?
Slimsoon1988 replied to reallyrosy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder if people who regain is because they have slip back into old habits? I understand that the fat cells are still present in our body but I don't see how we can gain back all of our weight if we are eating right and exercising. -
I def agree with your last point regarding options. I haven't dated in 3 years and tonight will make my 4th date this summer. I went from not thinking about intimacy at all to now thinking about it a lot.

I was just talking about this the other day. At 275pds I had no desire to do anything. Now at 195 the urge has come back. I'm not sure if that is because I have more confidence and feel better about myself or if there is some internal hormonal changes.

What Brands of Drinks do you use?
Slimsoon1988 replied to theatrejo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink Vitamin Water Zero. -
Yeah I get like this sometimes. I'm a few days from the 5 month mark. Some days I look in the mirror and go wow I'm so small and other days I'm like I'm huge. I think it's mental and the clothes I may be wearing that day.

What does your workout regimen consist of? -
I went shopping today and I can now fit in a size 38 waist for men. In most regular stores 38 is sometimes the biggest size but I'm fine with that. At least I no longer have to go on a mad hunt searching for who sales waist 44 pants

Low white blood cell and protein
Slimsoon1988 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got my 3 month blood result back and everything was good except my low white blood cell. It is suppose to be greater than 4.0 but it's 3.6. What does that mean? The form says to contact my primary care doctor which freaks me out more. My Protein she wrote is very low and I should increase to 75g per day. Has anyone else experienced the above? Especially the low white blood count. -
6 months post op stomach pain

If you are in severe pain then yes you should call. -
Today I went to my bariatric nurse and we had a very tense conversation over coffee. On my 3 month check up I decided to let my nurse know that I have started to drink coffee on occasion. She was not pleased. She said in her experience drinking coffee/decaf coffee will give me ulcers. She sees it all the time that people who drink coffee/decaf coffee come back with ulcers years later. Basically she guaranteed an ulcer if I continue. I asked that I would like to see research which got her more fired up. She said this is based on her years of experience. I should never have coffee or decaf ever again. Any truth to this? What are people's thoughts on coffee?

Argument with NP over Coffee

These doctors need to come up with a Gold standard. It's like the Wild Wild West when it comes to rules post op. -
Argument with NP over Coffee
Slimsoon1988 replied to Slimsoon1988's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks. After my conversation with her I am definitely going to look into the research.. You would have thought I told her I started using cocaine the way she ripped me a part. It was the most tense appointment I have ever had in the doctors office. -
Argument with NP over Coffee
Slimsoon1988 replied to Slimsoon1988's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is so frustrating that different programs say different things. She basically guaranteed that I will end up in the hospital if I continue to drink even decaf coffee. I'm really angry about this because she left me conflicted. -
I must confess since starting this journey I am afraid to eat carb rich foods, which includes fruit. I feel like a crazy person avoiding fruits. Someone offered me strawberries and the first thing I thought is I can't afford the carbs. Am I right in my thinking? Or am I going overboard? What fruits are you eating? Are there good fruits and fruits I should avoid? I meet with my Nut next week but would love to hear what others are doing... I'm 3 months post op.

2 Tablespoons of Food. Really?
Slimsoon1988 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm approaching my third week post op. Everything had been going well. I have been on a liquid diet for the three weeks. I've been taking in my liquids just fine. Today was my dietitian appointment. I was skipping to my appointment because I knew today is the day that she would allow me to eat mushy food in addition to my liquids. She said I can eat refried Beans, substitute eggs, cottage cheese, and yogurt. But I can only have TWO TABLESPOONS of it per meal. My mouth dropped. I assumed that I would be able to eat up to 2-2 and a half ounces. But is the two tablespoons normal at this stage?
