Going thru Withdrawal! Any helpful ideas?
Gingerisgreat replied to dmaddox1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I remember day four being really hard for me. About day five I quit feeling hungry and stopped caring about whether or not I ate it it was a struggle to make myself continue to drink the shakes. On my diet the surgeons allowed us to have one cup of veggies a day for the first five days, so I put those into chicken broth and it looked like soup! I looked forward to it all day long! Then that was removed the last five days and I worried I would die, but it really is all I your head and you WILL make it!!!!, -
Name something strange and super unhealthy that you used to eat before weight loss

Dipping the rectangles of a Hershey bar into Jiffy. Anything involving peanut butter and I loved it so much that it was one of the only foods I worried about never tasting again! Now I add PB2 to protein shakes and it gives me the flavor without the fat! -
Help! Can't stand Protein Drinks
Gingerisgreat replied to Elisha1015's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had these issues as well until a friend gave me ProtiDiet gel pouches to add to my water!!!! Changed everything! You can buy them online all over or on amazon, 7 in a box for $12. Each pouch has 15 g of protein, add two of them to a large jug with one Crystal Light pkg and even my husband said he can't tell it's a protein drink! The MangoPeach and tropical fruits are great. The Pink Lemonade was a nice break from TOO SWEET EVERYTHING because it has a nice tartness! Seriously a lifesaver for me! Plus......adding it to your water getsyou fluid intake as well as the protein so it's double dipping! -

Gingerisgreat replied to brown eyed gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to take such small sips that I work all day on my protein drinks and still struggle! I have to take my medicine cups of vitamins in three separate sips. I constantly feel full like I can't possibly take one more sip yet I have to force myself. -

My surgery was on the 25th so I am now almost 9 days post. I am still really struggling to get in all of my protein and liquids, I feel full constantly. I am also still still very sore on my left side, and my pain medicine gives me nightmares. -
December 10th anyone?

Hi:) As I am sure you can see from my profile I am newly postoperative but our dates are within weeks of each other! I would love to correspond with you if you need someone to talk to while your day is approaching, and after. Does you surgeon require that you are on a liquid diet now? Mine did for 10 days. I took way too much to the hospital with me but I had planned on feeling better than I did, I guess I was hopeful. Surgery honestly felt like a breeze but I didn't plan on being this tired afterwards so I took my iPad as well as my laptop, hoping that my husband and I would get to watch some movies together (rare because we have children). I also took a crossword puzzle book, and needless to say I did not use any of those items! I could not keep my eyes open for more than an hour at a time! My slippers were my most valuable item as they actually helped to hold the TED hose (compression stockings used to prevent blood clots) into place. I was happy that they let my husband rinse me off while I sat in a shower chair on day two. After the shower I had my own flannel nightgown to put on and clean underwear and that felt so wonderful! I forgot my hairbrush and wished I'd had it, I requested my husband to bring it to me on a trip home but he forgot it. Chap stick was a MUST have because for the first day after surgery your mouth is very dry. The hospital where I had my procedure provided me with almost everything, so I honestly didn't need much. I had my own pillow and a small lap blanket which were both helpful when I was up in the bedside recliner. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! I would love to help you in any way that I can! Best Luck!
