I haven't had hair loss yet. My surgery was almost 9 months ago. Am I safe yet? I'm menopausal which some of you have mentioned that makes hair loss worse. My hair has been thin for the last few years because of menopause but I haven't had any new hair loss since my gastric sleeve.

Pasta! Other then that I do well with everything. Pasta makes me have pain so I don't eat it.

I had gastric sleeve surgery 12/29/2014. I was recently cleared to have bread again. My NUT said to have toast. She said I could also wait longer if I wanted to. I'm afraid to try bread because I have heard it doesn't go well post op. I don't know if it causes pain, vomiting etc? I was offered a biscuit this AM. I used to love biscuits but I was afraid to have it so I threw it away. Can anyone give advice about bread and biscuits post op? So far I have done well with my sleeve but I have measured everything and I have been careful. What kind of symptoms happen when you eat bread or biscuits?

Right after the sleeve its difficult to stay hydrated. Caffeine dehydrates by making you lose fluid. My team is ok with caffeine like 1 cup of coffee a day once you have no problem staying hydrated. The only thing my team bans forever is carbonated beverages.

I loved ricotta bake too. I also tried canned roast beef hash because of eggface. I liked that too! I liked the pureed stage a lot better then th liquid stage.

I had my sleeve 12/29/2014. I feel pretty normal and I have tolerated most foods I have tried. I can't eat large quantities and I try to eat nutritious food 99% of the time for my healths sake. I have had 1 small cookie for a treat without a problem. I'm still losing weight because 1 cookie rarely is not the problem that the box or two I used to eat was!!!!

It is on eggfaces blog on the internet. She had gastric bypass and she loves to cook. She has lots of recipes on her blog. I liked ricotta bake myself. Its like lasagna without the pasta. It tasted good, didn't bother my sleeve and was a good source of protein.

Any December 30th Sleevers ?!
Karenlrn replied to hootney1214's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You are not the only one. Like they told us it is a tool but we still have to manage our protein, drink enough water, and use our limited stomach space for protein. Sometimes I have gone over 800 not too bad 1,000 once nothing like the amounts I could eat pre surgery. I also have to try to disipline myself to eat whats good for me instead of what I want sometimes. I hope I'm not the only one but I do get hungry for things I shouldn't have and my sleeve tolerates most foods well. I'm grateful that I still have to eat small quantities. -
I have a tough sleeve! Other then 1 dumping and vomiting episode 2 days after I came home from the hospital I've been fine. The only thing I have to watch is eating too fast or too much. Both too fast and too much food causes me pain. All I have to do is stop if its too much or eat slower. I even had some pasta- whole wheat macaroni today without a problem. I was sleeved 12/29/2014.

Confused on making this decision or not.
Karenlrn replied to Jillianmi's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My sleeve was 7 weeks ago. I'm very happy with my decision. I weigh under 200 for the first time in 12 years. My sleeve has tolerated almost everything I've tried so far but in much smaller servings. I do have pain when I don't chew enough and when I eat too fast. I've only thrown up once since surgery. I've lost 29 pounds since surgery. The hardest part for me was giving up caffeine and diet pop. I can have caffeine again but I don't want it yet. I enjoy being caffeine free and I don't miss pop as much as I thought I would. I'm becoming more active then I used to be. I feel much better. Nothing tastes as good as this feels. The sleeve is the best decision I ever made! This is my experience but you have to decide whats best for you. -

Bread and Biscuits post op
Karenlrn replied to Karenlrn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree its a blessing that I can't eat bread like I did before the surgery. I also agree with the person who said chocolate is not their indulgence. I actually don't like chocolate or dessert much. My indulgence would be bread or biscuits but I'm going to try toast first but I think I'll wait longer before I try it. I sure like this site and how willing everyone is to help. -
Dec 29th sleevers ?
Karenlrn replied to aHealthierMe121714's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Any advice about bread or biscuits? My NUT recently cleared me to try bread- she said toast would be best. I haven't tried it yet because I'm afraid of bread. I have heard it doesn't go well post op. I was offered a biscuit this am. I loved them pre op but I was afraid to try it so I threw it away. What kind of symptoms do you get if bread doesn't go well? -

Have any of you tried bread? I was recently cleared to have toast but I haven't done it yet. I was afraid because I heard it doesn't go well after surgery. I was offered a biscuit today. Why Did You Choose Your Specific Type of Weight Loss Surgery?
Karenlrn replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I chose the sleeve after going to the weight loss surgery seminar. He only presented the band, the sleeve and gastric bypass. The dr said he only did the band if the patient insisted so I ruled that out right away. I didn't want the malabsorbtion and rerouting of the bypass. My Dr said that with my heart problems less time in the OR would be better. I had my sleeve 3 weeks ago and I'm very happy with my decision! -
BariatricPal Launching Online Store to sell Discounted Bariatric Nutritional Products ? (Vitamins, Protein etc.)
Karenlrn replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think this is a great idea. I would really like it if you could order samples of products to see if you liked them. I wouldn't want auto ship but it sounds like that would be optional. I am new to this having just had my surgery 3 weeks ago tomorrow. I like the idea of seeing different products I might not have heard of, products to help me get my Protein and Vitamins in. -
I want to follow this thread too. I wondered about all the emphasis on diet food when the amounts are so small. I had surgery 12/29/2014 so I'm still on pureed diet. My nut wants me to have a lot of milk and I wondered what lactose intolerant patients do.

I went to a information seminar in the last week of June. I had my first appt with the surgeon the first week of July. I went to my last appt before getting approval Dec 2 and I was approved on the 8th. I had surgery 12/29/2014. I was glad it took that much time. I would not have been ready for this without the appts and time to make changes. I used the time to give up pop, caffeine, and make other life style changes.

I can't have regular coffee. I was recently cleared to have decaff coffee. I liked it before surgery so I looked forward to it. I didn't like coffee anymore. I like tea now. I didn't like tea before surgery. I drink decaf. I'm not sure if I want caffeine when I can have it. Getting off it was so hard-bad headaches etc. I don't think I ever want to be caffeine dependent again.

dad77 The day of the surgery and part of the next morning was the worst for me too. I'm not sure about the pain you are having. Usually when I have pain its eating or drinking too fast so I slow down. You can get nausea from dehydration so make sure you are sipping fluids most of the time. You could ask your surgeon about this pain too. Just know it gets better everyday.

I'm happy for you!

I'm 5'5 and my Drs goal for me is 150. It sounds to me like you are doing great. I would think your Dr would be pleased. I only had surgery 12/29/2014 so I'm still really new.

Any December 30th Sleevers ?!
Karenlrn replied to hootney1214's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I cheated and had a pureed dish today instead of waiting until wed. I had a very small portion of eggfaces ricotta bake which I made tonight. It was great but I feel guilty.
