I want to ask a question with out offending
DarleneCh replied to krissyvsg's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
It is true - it happens. I have jowls which really sucks.I was sad to see my work photo the year after 100 lbs lost - I thought I looked much older than the year before. It is amazing how much weight loss is in the face. I did lose a ton of hair - especially in my bangs - but the hair did come back. Sent from my XT1585 using the BariatricPal App -

I know it is discouraging but know that it is pretty common to hit a plateau. Are you exercising? That seemed to kick my weight loss back in gear. Sent from my XT1585 using the BariatricPal App

I can 100% relate. I'm two years out and was doing really well- until a few months ago when I started regaining. I've regained 10 lbs and am so frustrated and disgusted with myself. I can also eat candy non-stop. The binge eating disorder hasn't gone away. I KNOW what to do - but doing it is a different story... Sent from my XT1585 using the BariatricPal App

It totally freaked me out too - just about lost all my bangs. But don't stress - within a year it stopped an I got it all back. Sent from my XT1585 using the BariatricPal App

Fruit/veggies- do you eat them?
DarleneCh replied to gilit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am about 3 months out and I am so frustrated - seems like I can't eat more than a bite or two of anything. I tried one small bite of cantaloupe and was miserable for hours. Anyone else struggle with this? -
Same thing for me. everyone notices my face looks a lot thinner which is great but I am sagging too.
-
I'm only 3 months out - but I don't own a scale. I'm trying really hard not to get caught up on the number. I weigh in about once a month.

Calories per day - does your dr or rd give you a certain # of calories a day?

Do you try to keep within a certain amount of calories per day? -

When does the nauseousness stop?
DarleneCh replied to Jlkhollins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I absolutely could not do the protein drinks after surgery either. Genepro (you can buy on amazon) has been a lifesaver. Truly tasteless and it dissolves in hot tea well. It is expensive - but worth every penny to me. Good luck - I hope the nausea gets better soon. -

Tips for not eating and drinking at same time
DarleneCh posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having a horrible time not eating and drinking together. Any tips? I have Extremely dry mouth so have to drink a tiny bit with food. Anyone have it scheduled out? Quit drinking at 11:30 - set alarm type thing? -

Need practical advice (long)
DarleneCh replied to amyecpa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Genepro has absolutely saved me. Is it the best option compared to real protein? Probably not.... But I can put it in hot decaf fixated tea and it completely dissolves. I still drink 2 cups a day - each scoop is 30 G protein. Take care and know it gets better. -

Hi - I was sleeved on the 19th and have had some of the same thoughts. Try not to let the "nay-Sayers" get you down. It is perfectly normal to be impatient. One thing my sister recommended and I have found has been really helpful is that I do not have a scale. I do - once a week- measure myself, which is helpful. The other positive thought is that if we loose weight slower than our skin will have more of a chance to "snap back" and we won't have quite as much loose skin hopefully.

Cheated and now I'm paying for it.

I'm sorry you were told unfairly that you were being selfish. We all have used food for coping for many, many years and that won't go away overnight. I've eaten the wrong thing or too much of something and my stomach definitely told me NO! And I paid for it for a few hours. It's the best deterent. Please take care and forgive yourself
