Water vs. Food
thin-for-kidney replied to gorilamom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't get me wrong! I am having a hard time too lol, I'm not always getting all of my *six" meals in, I definitely get at least four to five, but boy howdy! That last one is really hard to nail down. I'm just soooo tired that its very easy to "put off" eating cause I'm not hungry at all!!!! I really wish I could have had like a two day simulation of what life would be like after surgery, I'm not regretting it at all!! but just so I could REALLY prepare my mind for what to expect -

I totally heat you!! My surgery was 1-28-15 and I was in the hospital for seven days. When u finally came home I tried to schedule my day through my phone alarms. I started at 7:30 and every half hour it goes off. So, first alarm 7:30, then next one at 8:00 I eat a "meal" you are supposed to take 30:00 min for you meals. Then the next alarm 8:30 tells me to stop eating, then at 9:00 to 9:30 I have my fluids, then at 10:00-10:30 I eat another meal and so on all through out the day until I have had six "meals" for the day. It may seem over kill but for me I'm never hungry or really thirsty so for now this keep me accountable. Hope I helped -

OK I'm 5 days post op and let me tell you about my ride lol. When I was on the operating table and had everyone going around me like bees in a jar lol. Then I "wake"/up but oh my gosh I'm soooooooooo tired all I can do is sleep! My left side hurts the most as that is where one of the cuts is in the muscle. Wasn't able to go potty on my own till day 5 post op and I've been having a lot of diarrhea but has been told that that is very normal lol. So today, there pain isn't really bad going to try to get me off o2 so I can go home, have to seriously make an eating schedule and stick to it, I just want to get the most out of this and want to be doing EVERYTHING I'm supposed to be doing! -

Two more days and a wake up till my surgery date!! My husband is starting to freak out. Cause all he is thinking about is the possibility of my not making it through the surgery! I keep telling him I've had other surgerys and have been fine, but now making me kinda nervous lol. (Big breath in and out) -
What about iced tea?? My surgery date is 1/28 and I know we aren't supposed to have caffeine, but I love iced tea in the summer, usually made out of black tea

To hospital or not? Help
thin-for-kidney replied to bellabloom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had something like that in Dec, went to the ER 5x in the space of 1.5 weeks, thought I was gonna die, tears streaming down my face kind of pain. Then it just went away......? Went to a general surgeon and he said something was up with my gallbladder so to do two different tests to check it. First was an ultrasound and found no stones (yay) haven't been scheduled for the second yet to test my gallbladder function. So I hear ya, hope you have a speedy recovery!! -
Having my doubts....3 months to go
thin-for-kidney replied to RobinL123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just a word on the pre op diet, we have to do this mainly to shrink our liver. And if you have problems with your surgical team, maybe you need to find a new one. That is including the nut . I know for me, if I wasn't COMPLETELY comfortable/satisfied with my surgical team I wouldn't want them in charge of my body and/or my life. Also remember the reason WHY your having this surgery, there will be times where it gets rough, again remember after the surgery we are kinda relearning how to eat again for the better!! Just trust in God and yourself and you will make it!! -

@MissforMimi lol I hear ya!! I know I will be in the hospital from wed1-28 to sat 1-31 it appears that I'm a "special" case as I'm on dialysis for my kidneys, as for me in just glad I'm not getting discharged a day after surgery as that supposedly is getting more and more common!! I mean come on, we all just had major surgery not like we just gave birth, I want to know that I am totally OK with EVERYTHING before I go home, right??!!!!???? With all that said, (grin) I'm glad your doing well!! Keep me posted -
