How Does Your Weight Loss Surgery Diet Fit into Your Household’s Meal Plan?
ChristyK replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have not yet had surgery, but currently, everyone is on their own for breakfast and lunch and I do dinner. The plan, after surgery, is for it to stay the same and for me to cook one meal for everyone - including Protein and healthy veggies (which is what we are eating now). Not sure how that will work out, but during my liquid and pureed food stages, hubby has said he will pick up the slack by cooking for everyone. -
Hi, I had my first consult today I went in sure I wanted the duodenal switch, but the surgeon felt the gastric bypass was better for me. I started a medically supervised diet in October, so I am hoping my dr will sign off and let me count those 2 months so I only need 4 more months - if not, I have to have 6 more months. I've lost 30 pounds in the last 2 months, so I am hoping that continues so I will be that much smaller when I have surgery! I have enjoyed reading everyone's stories and questions and hope to be active here while waiting.

My daughter had heart surgery 10 years ago and still occasionally will have a random stitch pop up - we just pull them out with tweezers and/or trim them so they don't bother her. Her dr said he's never heard of anyone having them take so long to dissolve...... but it is normal.

I'm 6' and I will be happy in a 10, 12, 14 ish...... I figure I need to be around 175ish for that. My mom is a bit taller than me and she wears a 16 at 220ish. I have a few months to wait before surgery, so my ideas may change as I start losing the weight.

Keeping it a secret? Anyone else
ChristyK replied to Dualstarr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My mom was not supportive at first, but I finally told her how much I weighed and that I have to do something or she will outlive me. That changed her tune and quickly. So far, I have only told my mom (and dad) and my husband that I have started the process. I have several family members who had varying procedures and none of them have kept off the weight (did not follow the eating plan) so I do not want the negative feedback. I have told some online friends, but only a few. I think it is up to each person who they tell.
