One yr post op average pouch size?
Laurac727 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Really think mine is stretched out -
I was also told no and broke myself of using them pre surgery and post surgery. About a month ago I started using them again. I went to my 3 month check up this week and told my NUT that I gave in and took back my straw but my fluid intake doubled with it. He explained the risk of air can stretch lower attachment of pouch, I told him I do not gulp with the straw I take a drink and hold in my mouth making sure that air does not go into the pouch and have trained myself to drink that way with it. So he let it go and knows I am using it daily now

My gallbladder has given me heck for 2 years and had stones even in bile ducts. The surgeon removed mine when he did the bypass all in one surgery at the same time. I have no regrets, finally free of that hell and I would never want to go backwards. it is has been no problems since and not affected things post at all.

Hi.. I am new here...Need advice

agree start with your primary MD for suggestions, then check with your insurance for list of accepted and accredited options. I started with primary and he gave me three options in my area. I check with my insurance and they gave the gold certified options per them and I drove 90 miles one way to get to the gold. I would not trade them for anything they are awesome and everything they and the insurance promised. -
Springfield Illinois Newbie.........any others?

I did my dear! on my second apt with PT she checked that I was doing what she told me too. She put me back on the treadmill and tested heart rate and etc to see the improvement so she knew I had been doing what I was told to on the first appt. Not sure which NUT you have but just do what they say! I have now seen PT 4 times, one month post apt with her was great, she was very helpful in getting going again. So just do what they tell you and report that you have and things will move along well!!! -
awesome job my friend, only half to go now

Try your protein shakes and find variety cause your tastes will change after, so bought variety single packs to have around and unflavored and of course unjury chicken soup flavored is a real keeper. You will want a NON straw water cup you will take everywhere and measure your water. That will be most likely your first week or two home. As you get closer they will suggest chewable vitamins supplements you will need to take after, so I bought mine right before and had ready. After you move off liquids they will add soft pureed which pudding jello such then soft proteins egg and soft meats like refried beans. So I made sure I had a dozen eggs, pudding mix, milk for shakes, can of refried beans, and jello mix. Then I have just went week by week now. Next week is my one month visit, so I have not bought nothing until after that appointment as they will add some more foods back, then I will pick up on way home. When buying remember about 1-2T will be all you eat, so you may think of ice cube trays to freeze servings of like rest of the refried beans. I tried those little half cup Tupperware things but the ice cube trays were perfect then I Ziploc them. Hope this helps out some and congratulations, it is exciting and nerve racking until it gets here but well worth it!!

Long hard work and dedication has got you here and that dedication and endurance will soon be behind you after tomorrow and then you will have to channel all of it to your new journey of post care!! I have no doubt that you will succeed in it as you have with the preop journey. Congratulations, i know it feels like forever but you are one day away and sometimes that last day all kinds of emotions, anxiety, and such appear. Just keep focused and enjoy your first success and see you on the losers bench after tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine was showing issues so surgeon removed it during my RNY

I am 22 days post RNY and having weird bouts with nausea after even sips of water. I get up in the morning and take thyroid meds with sip of water and instant nausea. All day sips fight the nausea so that I get in my 80oz fluid and 80mg of protein. Any advise on why or ease???? Making me crazy
