    A different kind of challenge

Does he like to workout? Maybe you could spend time together doing activities...like hiking, biking, etc. and get your workouts up to 5x a week? My husband doesn't like to workout so I totally understand if he doesn't just a thought. Good luck- LA

    About Protein?

I still mix GENEPRO Protein into my coffee every morning for 30 G of protein and I am 9 months out. It's a good CYA just in case I don't get it in with all my food. I also don't like most of the protein shakes or bars. I do like the Powercrunch bars. Good luck- LA

    Gatorade

Try PowerAide Zero if you can find it. Otherwise just go with Gatorade to help for now. I wouldn't drink it on a regular basis but sometimes you need to step outside the rules a little to get healthy. ~LA

When did you start feeling more energetic?

6 weeks was a definite game changer for me. The first month I only walked and took lots of mini naps. I only took one week off from work and should have done 2. Everyone is different but now that I am 8 months out don't rush it. Let your body heal before you get to worried about exercising. ~LA

    NSV....I DID IT!

I made it 10.5 Miles today & ran 2 of my fastest miles. I have never ran that far in my entire life. I signed up for my first half marathon on Labor Day. If any one has any tips I'd love it. My foam roller is my new BFF ~LA

    NSV....I DID IT!

Hey Prbaby28 -Welcome and Congrats. My husband is a fire fighter/EMT. It's amazing to me how everyone's journey is so different. I have to say I don't have any issues with food. My sleeve isn't bothered and mine just get's a little queasy if I eat to much sweets and then I eat some Protein and I am fine. I have only thrown up once. But I will say be careful when you go back to work and makes sure you drink your liquids. On my first day back I felt wonderful and thought I was Wonder Woman....I ended up in the ER that night dehydrated. I was just so busy getting everything done I didn't pay attention. I eat every 3 hours. Here's an example of what I eat. I used yesterday as an example I do eat oatmeal almost everyday. I didn't in the begging but found I got backed up and my nutritionist is fine with it as I still continued to lose. I also don' log or measure my food. I know a lot of people do and are successful so that's up to you. Again my nutritionist was ok with out me doing it. I get up at 5 am and have coffee with protein in it. I use GENEPRO . I think I started on coffee at 8 weeks. Workout 7 am Protein shake w/blueberries and strawberries (Either vanilla Premier Protein or Shakeology ) 9:30 oatmeal add Genepro usually only a half scoop 12:30 Salmon and coleslaw 3:30 1/2 apple with almond butter 6:30 pulled pork with cucumber slices Good luck- LA

    Wondering

The first 6 weeks was just walking for me and I was working out 6 days a week before surgery so I was all worried I'd lose muscle but just focus on healing. And then take it slowly. I remember I lifted the frozen turkey at the grocery store into the cart and it did actually hurt my stomach and I thought "Oh No what did I just do?" I was freaking out a little. It was a little sore that day. ~LA

    So I've noticed...

Awesome accomplishment Elode! We had surgery the same week. I was Oct. 30. I also cut my hair in a bob but I had it colored the other day and my hair dresser said it's starting to come back. Yipeeee!! I don't mind having short hair but it was getting really thin. I literally could see a bald spot by my part and now it's not anymore. Arms-I do weight/resistance training 3 x a week. Just 30 min so it's not a huge time suck. I have 3,5,8,10,12 lbs at home so I don't have to go to a gym. For Christmas I bought myself a subscription to Shape and Women's health. They always have exercises in those magazines that are nice to try and change it up and there's a ton of stuff on the web. Being noticed- For the most part everyone has been super supportive however there have been a few friends that are women that are a little annoying when asking me every other day...how much have you lost now? It also creeps me out when men stare now. Probably because I am married with 2 kids and I didn't gain weight until I had 2 kids so I haven't had men stare at me since I was single in my 20's. Now that I am 45 I am really not used to it. Have a great weekend- LA

    Funny WLS memes

Hilarious. I have never seen any of these
  14. I ran 7 miles this morning and was actually looking forward to it!! The first month and preop diet are tough but after that you get into a rhythm with the diet and exercise and I couldn't be happier with my decision almost 8 months ago. ~LA
  15. First of all you look fabulous. You don't look to thin. Secondly, even if you did that is so rude for them to say. That's just mean. Third and foremost it's not just about looks people. It's about being healthy. My doctor said that so many people are overweight now that people forget how normal weight should look. I hope you don't let these people drag you down. You are doing fantastic on your journey!! ~LA
  16. This is the exact reason why I had WLS. I was working out 5-6 days a week doing Insanity and P90X and I only lost 10 lbs. I was still technically obese. BMI of 30. I was always hungry and couldn't out run my fork. I love to workout but I also love to eat. I get up at 5 am and workout in the morning and it makes me feel better the rest of the day. If I don't I am dragging. I would get disgusted with myself and diet and lose the weight but always gain it back. I had surgery 7 months ago. I lost the 45 lbs I needed to in about 4 months and my workouts haven't been anymore intense then they were before. But it sure is nice to actually see the muscle that's been hiding under that fat for so long. So I do think it's 80/20 but I also think every once in awhile you need to give yourself a day to eat what you want. shake up the routine. Same with exercise. Now that the weather is better I've been running a few days a week to change it up. ~LA

    Mood swings

7 months out and I am still a little more quick to lose my temper. No you are not wrong to be upset about doing something nice for them and they are not appreciating it.

    Belly sleepers

The first few weeks I slept a little upright with two pillows. Then I moved one to the side long ways so that I could be propped up a little so that it wouldn't be as painful. But after 3 weeks you should be fine. ~LA

Genepro- 30 grams of protein/serving untrue?

I buy it from Amazon. I am a Prime member and the shipping is free and comes in 2 days. Plus it's only $38 and is flavorless. I bought unjury and half of the container is still sitting in my cupboard. I should just throw it out as it is awful. I put one scoop of GENEPRO in my coffee every morning religiously. If I have oatmeal I add it in before I heat it up. It mixes better. I don't count my grams, calories, carbs, Water etc. I just always have Protein first and water to drink as often as I can. Good luck- LA

Genepro- 30 grams of protein/serving untrue?

I use this product daily and it says right on the front of the package. 30 g of protein in 1 tbsp. serving. I am 7 months out and all my tests have come back flawless so I am going to keep using it. ~LA

    Protein in coffee

Every morning I have a cup of coffee with GENEPRO unflavored Protein in it. It mixes in with hot or cold beverages just fine. I get it from Amazon. 30 grams of protein and it's affordable. ~LA

    Exercise myth busted

I totally agree. This is the main reason I had WLS. I was working out 5-6 days a week doing Insanity and P90X and my BMI was still 31. I couldn't out run my fork. I was actually embarrassed to tell people I did those workouts because I certainly didn't look like it. I make sure to tell everyone when they ask about my weight loss that it really truly is more about diet. I'd say 85/15. I do love the way working out makes me feel so I continue with it almost everyday. Happy with my decision- ~LA
  24. I am exactly the same. I love sweets. I have found that I usually let myself have one day a week to have whatever I want. I still make sure I have my Protein. My day is usually on the weekend and I always make sure that when Monday comes I am back on the wagon. Last Monday I threw out half a coffee cake just so I wouldn't be tempted. I warn my kids/husband if it's something I am tempted with so they can eat it up. A few weeks ago I made chocolate chip Cookies and on that Monday I sent all of them to school with my youngest son. During the week if I feel like I need a yummy fix I really like those Power Crunch Protein Bars. They taste like a cookie. I like the Mint Choc and Peanut Butter fudge. I keep them in the freezer. And they have a new salted carmel that is pretty tasty as well. I heard about these on this board. I buy the individual one's at Walmart for $1.48 to taste the one's I like and then buy a box on Amazon Prime. My friend Dave loves the cookies and crème and he didn't even have WLS. Would this bakery cake place be in Washington state by any chance?
