    IBS and the Sleeve

I have suffered from IBS for the last 11 years and I have to say an extra benefit of getting the sleeve is that for the last 3 months I have not had one single issue. Self paying was worth it alone for that benefit. Even when I ate healthy foods prior I still had issues so it's not just the diet part that's helping. Feeling Great and in control is really something I can't even begin to describe the relief. ~LA
  3. I can relate. I would have had to gain 20 lbs in order for my insurance to pay for it. I ended up paying for it myself and using money I had in my Health Savings Account but if I only had to gain 3 or 4 lbs I would have Have some creamy high fat sauces because you won't be able to after surgery. Good luck- LA

Damn did I really do this?

I tried to walk every hour around the house. I hated it but I still did it. Everything everyone has said is true and make sure even when you do feel better not to over due it. Funny thing is the first couple of weeks I used to have nightmares that I forgot that I had the surgery and ate chips and ruined my sleeve. Well I am 3 months and 1 week out and things are great. I don't have any dumping issues and no regrets. (No more nightmares either) Give yourself the first month to just focus on getting healed. Good luck- LA
  5. I actually saw a funny post of facebook that bigger/fatter people are harder to kidnap. I do miss eating and drinking at the same time. The other day I had to fast for my blood work and when I was done after 25 hours of nothing but Water I was starving but I also wanted coffee. It was a tough choice but I chose the food first and then the caffeine 30 min later. ~LA

    Share your Costco staples!

Thanks for sharing. It's always hard to try something new from costco since it comes in bulk I hate to buy it and then if I don't like it throwing it out. I will give a couple of these a try. Those stuffed chicken patties look amazing. Also thanks for the pictures. That helps when I am looking for the package. Have a great weekend- LA

    New Sleever Intro

Welcome. I have to say I was sleeved 3 months ago and the hardest part was the pre-diet. Good luck- LA
  8. I had the three week stall as well and I am now 3 months out and it was the only time that I have stalled. I wish my doctor would have given me a heads up so I didn't panic. A good reason why this board/forum is great to be a part of. You will be fine. ~LA
  9. I had some filler done at my plastic surgeon's with some botox and it's funny because when people who see me that haven't in a awhile are like "Wow you've lost so much weight and you look 10 years younger!" Amazing stuff

    Superbowl

Well I actually went to the Super Bowl and I have to tell you how disappointed I was in the food. I brought my healthy food in a clear plastic bag and they made everyone throw out all food and drinks. Ughhh good money wasted. But then when you get in there was not any healthy options. I ended up getting a cheeseburger that was so gross. It wasn't even real meat. It was some cafeteria crap meat. And of course it was expensive. I am only 3 months out so I really wanted to stay on track but I survived 3 days of a so so diet and lack of my routine exercise but I am back on track today. I figured I will skip the scale this week so that I am not disappointed because I've had enough of that. Sad my Hawks lost but back to reality. ~LA

    Telling Coworkers

I didn't tell anyone at work. They don't need to know. You will have to diet before the surgery so I just continue that philosophy. I am eating smaller meals and mostly Protein and workout 6 days a week. Good luck- LA

    Inches

Nice job Steve. I only took a few measurements before surgery and I wish I would have taken more. It really is a good indicator vs just the scale.

I'm not RIGHT, you're not WRONG, WE ARE DIFFERENT.

I totally agree. And I love that you are totally honest!! Keep on being you! ~LA
  15. I am not a vet but I like this thread and wonder the same thing. I am at 129 now and I am happy with that but of course would love to be 120. And I am still losing so I am not to that point yet. My surgeon was like oh you could be 115 so I have that as my goal but not really sure how attainable and more importantly maintainable that will be so I will have to wait and see. I want to maintain it without being miserable and be able to buy clothes and not worry that it's going to not fit. (Either being to big or to small) ~LA

    Cold colder freezing. .

I have a heated throw blanket I got at costco that I keep at my desk. That way I am not heating up the entire room. ~LA

    Long weekend

This weekend was my first bad weekend as well but I am determined to get back on track today!! I had an awesome Insanity weekend and I am sticking to my meal plan today and the rest of the week. Don't let one or two day derail you. Have a great week- LA

Problem with health care costs in US

I self paid for my lap sleeve but my hernia repair was billed to my insurance for $80K. I thought that was pretty crazy since they were already in there but you are all right they only pay a certain amount of that at a negotiated rate. Everything I pay for I use my health savings account so it's almost like getting a 30% discount. At least that's what I tell myself ~LA

    Sugar-free mints

Yes I had them because I had seen some you tube video's that said your breath might be nasty after words. I never had any stalls so I think you'd be fine. ~LA

    Counting this as a success

I am going to have to say that I also love McDonalds. And I still take my kids there. I haven't eaten there in over 3 months so I joke that's why their sales are going down. Good job passing it up.

    Discouraged and regreting

The first few weeks I was backed up as well. I used Miralax in some crystal light. Once I was on solid food and got Fiber, fruits and veggies in my diet I haven't had that problem since. Take it easy if you have an open wound. Over doing it now isn't going to do you any good. This is a marathon not a sprint. Good luck- Lorie
  24. I am actually pretty happy to be smaller in the chest area post surgery. I was a 36DD and now 9 weeks out and down 35 pounds I am a 34 D. I got fitted at Nordstrom's and bought 4 amazing new bra's. I am about 15 lbs from goal so I am doubting that I will lose much in my chest with the remaining weight I am wanting to lose. I am only 5 ft 1 so being larger chested always made me feel frumpy and I also have a bad back. Feels great on my shoulders and back to be lighter. And doing my workouts is so much easier without all that bounce. Good luck- LA

    Successful First Vacation

Great job and Awesome that your husband was so supportive. I actually had to do my preop diet while in Disneyland. My kids were eating churro's while I had a turkey leg.
