Starting out at age 45? How common?
SeahawksFan replied to KS123's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am exactly 45 years young -
But look you realized it before it became a problem. So give yourself some kudo's and forget about him. ~LA

I Bought a Bikini! Wedding Dresses! And Long Term Success!
SeahawksFan replied to livvsmum's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats and thanks for sharing. I think finding that ideal weight is a challenge. And I like the idea of a high waisted bikini. I don't have the lose skin issue but my scars are still really noticeable. I am not sure if the biggest one I have will ever not be. Have a great weekend- LA -
I thought the pre-op diet was the most difficult part of this journey so far so stay strong. Good luck ~LA

Calories intake 3 months out of Gastric Sleeve Surgery
SeahawksFan replied to tfarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also 3 months out and I don't count my calories but I would say I am around 1000. Probably some days 800 and other days 1100. I have 5 small meals throughout the day. I usually only have one shake a day as I find they don't hold me over as long as real food. I haven't found a bar that I love however I did just order some new one's that I read about on here. I do workout everyday and that usually burns between 400-600 so if I am feeling like I need more food I grab a handful of almonds or something because I figure it's your bodies way of telling you it's not getting enough. If your still losing and your nutritionist is happy then life is good. -
What irritates your sleeve?
SeahawksFan replied to Jazmundo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am one of those that falls in the bucket of nothing bothers my sleeve and I am 3 months out. Blessing and curse. I love sweets and the bad carbs so I have to be careful. I also eat way to fast and sometimes the meat feels like a ton of bricks in my stomach. ~LA -
I had a bad two weeks of eating lot's of sweets and bad carbs. This week I am back on track. I am not eating any sweets, breads, Pasta, or rice. I have 6 more pounds until I am at goal so I figure I need to suck it up now. I've just been having a cup of tea when I feel like I want to eat something I shouldn't. I work out everyday so I don't have much to improve on that part but you might make a goal of what workouts you will do this week and then make a reward if you hit it. I know it's hard to be good all the time so I just told myself I am going to be good for an entire week and look Wednesday is almost over ~LA

Of the 7 incisions they made two of mine are longer than an inch and I've been using scar cream. I am pretty sure they will turn white by summer but still bummed that one of them is so large. I won't be able to wear a bikini with out it showing so it looks like I'll be a Tankini girl forever. I used Mederma when I had skin cancer removed and it didn't do much on that so that's why I went with a different type this time. Good luck- LA

Need some suggestions
SeahawksFan replied to fuzzywhitebunny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Merilax as well. All the other things seem to taste funny. And the smooth move tea is over kill for me. ~LA -
I did that a few weeks ago and then this weekend I did my shoes. Ah it's so nice to have it so clean. But just like you I don't have very much in there.

Share your Costco staples!
SeahawksFan replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Thank you so much for all the advice. I found and bought the chicken skewers (Yummy) and the chicken salad in the cups, (Good Stuff and easy), and the Chicken stuffed patties. I haven't had time to try those yet. I also miss the egg beaters. I like egg whites but the one's at costco taste funny so now I just buy my egg beaters at the grocery store. On my next stop I'll grab the salmon. It's just sooo much food for just me. My fridge and freezer are over flowing. I wish someone lived close so could split my haul. ~LA -
I think you should have a consultation and ask the surgeon what you can expect. I had a Tummy tuck and then I had my Flanks lip suctioned. I have no issues with lose skin or wrinkles on my butt ~LA

I also find that the shakes don't keep me that full. Greek Yogurt is another. I only have them on occasion as I find I am hungry an hour later. And then I am having something like tea to keep my mind off of it. I try to eat every three hours. I do better when I stick to a schedule. Good luck- LA

insurance coverage for post operation complications
SeahawksFan replied to freddie8_8's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I self paid for my surgery but I did not go to Mexico. My BMI wasn't high enough otherwise they would have covered it. I did end up getting dehydrated and had to go to the ER a week after surgery and luckily my insurance covered that visit. ER alone was $4K. 3 Bags of IV is pricey. ~LA -
Oh yeah I am definitely going to try the Choco Premier heated. Guilt free hot cocoa. I am constantly freezing

My Nutritionist is ok with it. I have been having Kashi Go Lean Crisp. 9g of Protein and 8 g Fiber. I also eat oatmeal. I find it helps keep me regular with out having to add Miralax to my diet. I will have to look at Special K protein. ~LA

Goal weights? And photos for "shorties?!"
SeahawksFan replied to auntjanny's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Love this post because this is exactly what I am going thru right now. I am 5 1 1/2 and I am at 125 lbs. My husband and true friends think I am good where I am at and don' t need to lose more but my surgeon and I picked 115 when I started this journey. (I m very muscular) Maybe 120 would be more realistic and give me a 5 lbs spread. but love seeing what everyone else is thinking. I have an apt on 2/24 and I am over 45 years old. ~LA -
Good luck today and remember to drink your Water. I was so busy my first day back at work I did not and ended up in the ER for dehydration. But that is the one and only complication I have ever had and I do blame myself. ~LA

Just curious to see what you all consider slider foods so that I can avoid them. Thanks ~LA

The chewable bariatric vitamins I had the first month after surgery always upset my stomach so my nutritionist has me taking Rainbow Light Mini Tablet Food based Multivitamin. It also has a probiotic in it. I buy it off Amazon now. I also take a B12, Vitamin D, and then the Calcium chews. I go in soon for my 3 month follow up so I am hoping everything looks good. ~LA

The Rules: Do you follow them?
SeahawksFan replied to MichiganChic's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I follow about 95%. So I think it's easier to say what I am not so good at. Eating slowly Not multitasking while eating I still have something sweet a couple of times a week. I am not really a chips or alcohol person. It's usually the cookie, or donut that get's me. Because of this I do workout 7 days a week. And I do extreme workouts like Insanity, P90x and spin except once a week I do yoga. My doctor/nutritionist has never said I had to track or weigh my food so I don't. I just always have Protein with my food and focus on that. I am also allowed coffee so I only have 1 cup a day. I put 115 as my goal weight but honestly I wore a pair of 0P jeans to work today and lot's of people commented that I didn't need to lose any more. I have an apt with my surgeon and nutritionist on the 24 so we'll see what they say. I am also interested to see my levels to make sure nothings out of whack. Great job everyone. None of us are perfectionist and this is a lifestyle change and not a diet so I feel pretty good about the changes I've made. And with that I will say I am having one slice of pizza for dinner tonight as we are having family over that has no idea I did WLS. TGIF- LA -
Halfway there! with pics!
SeahawksFan replied to imsoglad56's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Way to go. You look fantastic. -
My favorite pizza place has the brick oven pizza with thin crust so I basically eat 3/4 of the slice because I eat the crust on the bottom but not the crust on the edge. It's super delicious and fills me up so I don't feel deprived plus it's nice to be able to eat what my family is eating. We get it with pepperoni, mushrooms, and olives. ~LA
