Weekend Encouragement
SeahawksFan replied to MrsSugarbabe's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I love your posts. The little sunshine always catches my eye Just what I needed for the weekend. ~LA -
I like Athleta and Title Nine. They are expensive but they are good quality. I just ordered a new Tankini the other day. ~LA

You look fabulous and I love your smile in the last picture!! Keep up the great work.

I would say pretty much what you've stated. " I have tried many weight loss programs and I always seem to gain the weight back...Do you think I would be a good candidate for the WLS/Sleeve?" If you had my insurance you would qualify. They require 35 or higher BMI and then 2 health conformities. ~LA

Awesome story. I love it!!! Congrats and good luck on your races and tennis. ~LA -
I had the weirdest dreams that I forgot I was sleeved and ate potato chips. More than once I had these weird almost nightmare dreams about my sleeve. Ahh crazy times. ~LA

My nutritionist has me taking Rainbow Light 50 + mini tablet that is a food based multivitam with a probiotic in it. I was getting an upset stomach with some of the other brands and this one I have had any issues. I take 3 of these a day. (Then my Vitamin D, B12 and Calcium.) I don't need Iron. All my blood work has come back good so now I order these on Amazon. I also have made it all winter without a cold or sore throat ~LA

When I see a seriously overweight young woman, I have this overwhelming urge...
SeahawksFan replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
I have an overweight teenager and I try so hard to get him to eat right. I also pay $500 a month for him to go to a personal trainer 3x a week. So please don't always blame the parents. My son doesn't care that he's over weight and says he'd rather eat what he wants than diet. And it's not always junk he eats big portions and 4 meals a day. I have another son who is 12 and is actually 50% for weight. He loves to exercise and Snacks throughout the day. I didn't raise them any differently. ~LA -
Protein Bar's and powder
SeahawksFan replied to phillyfan99's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I really like the Power Crunch bars. They taste more like a cookie as they have a wafer in them. Totally different then Quest. I really like the mint choc, peanut choc, Cookies and cream, and vanilla. I keep them in the freezer. You can buy individual ones at GNC and Walmart to taste them and buy them in bulk on Amazon. Protein powder: I use the Premier ready made (Choc and Vanilla) and then I also have GENEPRO in my coffee every morning before my workout and I also use Shakeology Vanilla and throw in some frozen blueberries and strawberries. ~LA -
How long from first consult to surgery date (Self Pay)?
SeahawksFan replied to arrical8's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It took me about 2 months but that was because I also had a business trip that I wanted to wait until was over. I think realistically you could do 1-2 months out. Even though I was self pay I still had ekg, nutritionist, psych eval and blood work to get done. I also had to do a 2 week under 40 grams of carb diet before my surgery to shrink my liver. I didn't think that was bad at all compared to what others have to do. I lost 10 lbs those two weeks. Good luck- LA -
I paid $12K in Washington State for the surgery and anesthesiologist plus I had to stay the night since I had sleep apnea. The total package with 2 years follow up with Nutritionist, trainer and psychologist was around $17K. I used my Health Savings Account to pay for it ~LA

Social Dinners
SeahawksFan replied to Slimsoon1988's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At about 2 months you should be able to go have an appetizer. I didn't tell my friends either and I went and had happy hour. I didn't drink and checked the menu appetizer ahead of time so I knew what to order. You might even want to go and try the food first. I haven't had any issues with dumping and I am able to eat anything so I haven't had to worry about that. Still stick to the rule of protein first and stay away from the fried stuff. Good luck- LA -
I am so afraid of that happening. That is the biggest reason I had this done. I would actually get the shakes I'd be so hungry. Does your surgeon or nutritionist have any suggestions? ~LA

I am 4 months out and have thinning hair as well I got a short bob like Kelly Rippa. It's nice because I can wear it curly wavy or straighten it. No one has noticed my hair thinning except me. I am taking Biotin and then started using just two weeks ago this stuff from Joico Thinning Rescue. I got it from Amazon. I can't really say if it's working since it's only been two weeks. And I eat all my Protein and take my Vitamins. Sometimes it just happens. ~LA

No respect from family.
SeahawksFan replied to laceyrasely92's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so sorry. I would be really mad. You respected them enough to tell them and then they did not keep it a secret. I only told my husband and one friend because I had an Aunt who did the surgery and I heard what my family would say about her. ~LA -
Head is back in the game!

You got this. You are so close!! 100 lb loss is amazing. -
I actually just ordered the P28 Bread and low carb tortillas from that site. I haven't had anything like that since surgery so I thought I'd try them. I know the prices were high but I figured it would be more like a treat to have every once in a while. I'll let you know if they taste good once I get them. ~LA
-
Thanks for the tips biker chick. I haven't had any bread and I just ordered some of the P28 bread and bagels. I can't wait to get them. ~LA

Even though I am short, pre-surgery I've always worn a women's xl shirt and dresses. I am going on vacation and ordered some cute dresses and skirts from Athleta in XS and I had to send 2 dresses and a skirt back because they were too big. I guess that would be a NSV I am now washing so many of my clothes in hot Water just to get them smaller. Even jeans that I bought a month ago size 26. Enjoy the rest of your weekend- ~LA

I am 4 months out and for the first time I gained as well. 1.5 lbs but I know I am losing inches as my boobs are smaller. I don't need to measure I can tell I started doing Insanity Max last week and who know's with hormones and such what's going on but I am going to give it a few days before I reweigh because I tend to get in a bad mood when I don't lose. Have a great week- LA
-
It looks fabulous. And such a timely post as my hair is thinning now that I am 4 months out so I will keep this info. Thank you so much for sharing. ~LA

Good luck. I know it's such a nervous time but I have nothing but good things to say 4 months out. ~LA

Anyone out there with Crohn's Disease?
SeahawksFan replied to metoonow's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was never diagnosed with Crohns but I have had IBS for the last 11 years and since I was sleeved 4 months ago I have not had one single issue and I used to have them throughout the week regardless what I ate. I was self pay so I have to say I would have done this just to not have the IBS anymore so it's like a 2 for 1 deal ~LA -
Goal weights? And photos for "shorties?!"
SeahawksFan replied to auntjanny's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Lipstick lady you look fabulous. Plus I think it's even more ideal that you are at a weight you don't have to struggle at to maintain. I am trying to loose this last 6 but honestly I am pretty darn happy where I am at so I am going to give it a few more months. Have a great week everyone- LA
