How is everyone doing? I'm assuming most the people out there loving their sleeve has moved on from the forum, so I thought I would purposefully come back and post an update. Pain - Non existent.. Excercise - Just got cleared to excercise. Started with a couch 2 5k program yesturday. I loved running before the sleeve. It was hard to hold myself back to running only 60 seconds at a time. Food - I can pretty much eat anything.. But some things just aren't worth it.. Red Meat sits hard and heavy in the stomach.. So I try to limit that. I've only had three throwing up experiences since I got sleeved. And none of them were from food. I switched from Prilosec to Pepcid.. And that was a mistake.. Three times though is all it took for me to figure it out. It also allowed me to get off all antacids.. Vitamins and pills - Still take double chewable multi and double calcium caltrate. B12, BComlex are once a day. Hypertension medicine still once a day, but off the metformin for good now. As for how much I'm eatting... I usually stick with 4 - 5 ounces of protein.. And then will throw about 4 ounces of what else is there (Potatoes, Veggies, Pasta).. Finish all the protein then try to make it thru half of the other stuff until I'm full, but not uncomfortable. Weight loss has been extraordinary.. Had a couple of stalls, but usually the weeks after the stalls the weight just falls off.. I've also noticed the stalls relate more to my sodium and water intake than anything else.. So if I keep drinking my water(Crystal Light Lemonade) and reduce the amount of pasta/potatoes/etc.. It falls right back off fast..

This thread makes me sooo sad...

I pretty much tell anyone who asks.. The only people I don't tell are waitresses at restaurants.. When they give me that "Was it ok" look I just say it was too much.. But everyone else knows, and I think that's because I'm surrounded by a ton of people who could benefit from the surgery so I want to help motivate them that its a positive change and nothing to be ashamed of. Luckily for me, my wife had the surgery 6 months before me, so I don't have to worry about telling the girlies.. We are also now the cheapest date out there as we get so share a single meal and 2 waters..

My surgeon won't lift the ten pound restriction until 6 weeks post op.. It's frustrating but doable.. My wife picks up the slack with the garbage and groceries.. I just get tired of having others do everything for me..

Going thru it right now.. It sucks because it's right about the same time on my plan when I can start testing new foods. Was it the retried beans? Or the tuna fish.... Luckily I log everything and know I'm at only 600 calories a day so this to shall pass...

So far recovery has been going pretty well. Surgery was Wednesday and only real problem was I came down with a nasty cold. That seems to have gone away. The problem is I went for a longer than usual walk and had to take many breaks on the way home.. The walk was maybe one mile. Before surgery I was used to running 5ks at least once a week. Anyone else experience shortness of breath issues?

Congrats.. How you doing.. I had mine done on Wednesday also.

My cold has gotten better. I finished a full icee today. Still having trouble getting in enough Water. Lots of walking. Tomorrow will be shower day... I got to say though.. I think the cold was a blessing because it put the surgery into perspective.. Recovering from the cold was ten times worst than recovering from the surgery.

Never thought the insurance would approve it so quick.. Had first consult only 4 weeks ago and now will have gastric sleeve done on dec 3rd. Trying to avoid getting nervous about it and focusing on the end goal. Wish me luck, I'll document my progress for a while in here. Next post should be from me in hospital..

I'm home now.. Experience wasn't bad. A lot less pain than I expected.. Trying to eat jello and broth with the constant gas and heart burn is fun... The biggest issue is now I have a head cold which won't stop bleeding in my sinuses. Using saline rinses every hour.

I just had mine yanked out today. At first it sucked when it was there. Constant stinging, especially when ever it was bumped or moved. But after a few hours didn't even notice it. Taking it out on the other hand was omg not fun... Not really painful, except for the tape on my hairy legs, but just uncomfortable as they pull what seems like a three meter long garden hose out.

Thanks.. Starting to get a bit anxious.. I decided to go to work today as I thought it would be a welcome distraction. I think it would suck more to be on broth and Jello day with nothing but Dr. Phil to keep me company at home. So I sit here making all my pre-op phone calls and plans with my coworkers wondering what the Red hospital tag is for. Most knew I was having the surgery, but didn't know it was tomorrow, so I've been telling everyone I came into contact with ebola, but showing no signs so they tagged me and sent me to work. Good news is I have an early morning check in. This means that I won't have to wait till the afternoon with no food or Water.. I can keep drinking water till midnight.. Wake up and rush on in to get kocked out.. One thing that has suprised me is that I was told to bring my CPAP machine. I would have thought a hospital would be able to deal with patients with sleap apnea without having them chug their machines back and forth.. The explanation I got is every machine is different and so its easier for them to use what they know you are comfortable with than try to figure it out. We also have a shopping list of stuff we forgot or ran out of.. So a last minute run to the pharmacy to get Gasx(You will be Gassey), Prilosec(You will have heart burn), and blood pressure pills. Luckily enough my doctor took me off the Diabetes medication a few weeks ago to avoid the constant stomach and digestive issues metformin causes.
