Hello Everyone!! I am almost 51 yrs old (5/16) I had my RNY on 12/8/14 and have lost 80 lbs in total!! Off all the BP medications and have complete resolution of the sleep apnea that keep me in a fog of exhaustion for 2 years!!! I have no regrets (except maybe that I should have done this 10 yrs ago) The hardest part of the journey was getting through the maze of demands made by my insurance to get the approval. I just bought new scrubs for work (I am a nurse) and lo and behold, size 2X, (this is significant because I was a 5X at time of surgery) I am thrilled, and so happy to feel well. It's so good to meet you all, and to have a group of people who understand my point of reference!!! Here's to being born in the 60's but learning to live in the 2000's!!!

Dr. Teixeira (works with Dr. Jawad in Orlando/Ocala)
FldivaRN replied to Katie Loesch-Meyer's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr Teixeira did my RNY on 12/8/14, I LOVE him!!!! I am an RN for over 20 years and not easily impressed. He is an extremely talented and compassionate doctor. I can be really annoying, (nurses make horrible patients) but he was always kind and kept his sense of humor, (which is a big plus for me, laughter is the best medicine) I credit him with "saving my life" (ok maybe we accomplished that together!!) I tipped the scales at 360 lbs shortly before surgery and today was 280, not bad for 15 weeks post op. He always answers my questions promptly, I really cannot praise him enough. Good choice and good luck with your journey!!!! -
The scale is not moving!
FldivaRN replied to jencooper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hit an unbelievable stall at about 3 weeks, it seemed like I was eating nothing, but the scale would not move. I stopped watching the scale, worked really hard a getting in my water/protein and after almost 3 weeks the numbers started going down. I am now 14 weeks post op and down 65 lbs. my only advice is stop watching the scale and get in those liquids, it works, it really works. -
