I had like 1 diareah type poops on days two and three and then yesterday I had an actual real bowel movement.. though it wasn't a lot. But, I had started eating more solid liquids like runny refried beans and cream soups.

Somebody else posted something similiar to this on general discussion, so I'm going to copy my answer from that onto here.. because I've been having a lot of food dreams too! my post: I've been having weird dreams too. Last night I dreamed that I was working at a restaurant that served tons of sweetcakes, cinnamon rolls, and breaded items. WHen I was on break I went through the line to get my lunch and there was platters and platters of all these cakes and cinnamon rolls and stuff... and the guy, who oddly looked like Morgan Freeman from "Driving Miss Daisy", had a huge smile on his face with outstretched arms saying, "Crystal, partake of some of these wonderful sweetbreads" and I was very tempted and then said, "I can't, I was just banded and have to eat vegetables".. now, obviously I can't eat vegetables right now as I'm still in the liquid phase, but I think my pre- south beach diet phase came into play here and then he showed me a platter with green Beans and blackeyed peas and I remember looking back and forth at the two and getting really sad because I wanted the cinnamon rolls. Even in my dreams I won't eat breaded items anymore. That's pretty pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Calling All Surgeries Monday February 25th
coolcrystal replied to valvinnek's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's okay Alyssa (val) I had a feeling the belching would last quite a while. LOL. It's just going to suck going back to work on Monday and sitting in a cubicle environment. LOLLLLL... everyone will be able to hear me belching.. So, what is everybody eating and doing now? I was able to do almost 20 minutes on the treadmill last night, but then my sciatic nerve in my back started hurting so that made me stop. I know I might be pushing it, as my doc didn't want me on the treadmill for another week, but I figured if I was told to walk, then I could walk on a treadmill, right? What about foods? is anybody pushing it? Today I had sugar free chocolate pudding, V8 juice, squash Soup blended up and some yogurt. Granted, I only had a little bit of this stuff.. the cans of soup are lasting me for 2-3 meals... but, I'm starting to get more hungry. I think my stomach is unswelling and healing up and wanting more food food. I was able to have refried Beans yesterday but they were all blended up.. I have this cool cuisine art hand blender thingy and it is totally awesome! I got it two years ago for xmas and never knew what to do with it, now I use it for everything. -
Well, if I have another dream tonight asking me to partake of the dang rolls I'm going to! LOLLLLLLLLL. I'm so not kidding!

I regret having the lap band surgery (m)
coolcrystal replied to allykat's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I get sad when I see stuff like this... DONT LET YOUR HUSBAND CONTROL YOU!! Why do women let their husbands control them, manipulate them and make them feel bad about stuff like this?? He sounds wishy washy to me. LIke he was going to be supportive and then he changed his mind and is trying to make you feel guilty because he can't deal with his own emotions about this. He needs to be a supportive husband, period, and if not, oh well! it's your body, not his. And, his statement about being "all cut up".. PLEASE.. I've seen several lap band scars a year out and I could barely even tell.. the only scar visible was the port scar and I have a cut on my thumb from a glass cutting me that looks worse than all the ones I've seen! You need to just say: listen, it's done.. it's over with.. if you can't deal with the minute scars then oh well.. when I start losing weight and feeling better about myself you'll see it's worth it. I don't know if he's scared you'll leave him, or, if he's scared that once you'll lose weight, you'll gain confidence and then he can't manipulate you any longer... you see, some men like having a fat wife so they can boss them around and treat them like shit and keep them where they want them. Anyway, I'm getting too emotional here. I've just seen this too many times and I'm so happy my husband Jerry was a wonderful and supporting husband and when he was worried I would lose a lot of weight.. guess what, he joined a gym and did my diet with me and has gone from 255 to 231 this morning! He wants us to be healthy together... and when somebody loves you, they could care less if you have a few scars on your belly! So please, don't regret the band... and maybe you need to just be a big B with your husband and tell him off or something. Of course, this is me.. I wouldn't take that shit from any man.. -
- to fit in a theater seat comfortably and not lift up the arm on one side - to not have to test drive 30 cars trying to find a seat that fits a fat lady before finding a new car to buy (btw, I got a nissan sentra.. fits a 300 pound chick with a huge rear great!) - to not have my friends scared to say the word "fat" around me as if I will get so offended I would leave.. you know.. when people start to tell a fat joke or say "this fat lady ____" they'll be like "ff" and then they just won't say the word because you are fat and they don't want to offend you. They also can't say words like "lard ass", "huge", or "big butt". - to be able to roll over in bed all at once and not in segments.. butt first then top part - to sit comfortably in a booth and not have the table dig into my belly

What made you choose the band over any other type of surgery?
coolcrystal replied to Lyn2481's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I researched both the bypass and the band for two years before coming to this decision. I have friends who have had both and my friends who got the bypass ALL gained their weight back and guess what, suffer with "dumping" meaning anytime they even eat a piece of cake they have to run to the bathroom and have diarreah! one of my friends walked up to me three weeks ago and said that she's glad I wasn't getting the bypass like her because she has gained back 40 of her pounds and has this dumping symdrome for the rest of her life. My friends who got the lap band have all done really well. One of these friends is even happily pregnant right now! you don't get the Vitamins and nutrients you need when you have the bypass... and the recovery is also grueling... I'm 4 days out from surgery and me and my husband just took a rather long walk outside.. you definitely couldn't do that 4 days out from the bypass. Also, I was a breaditarian too.. I loved french bread, pita, cakes, biscuits and so forth as well... and I was scared I couldn't do the lapband because I would have to cut these things out, but let me tell you, cutting that stuff out of my life has been the best thing I've ever done.. and wasn't even that hard honestly.. it was the first few days, but it got better. My doc put me on the south beach diet phase one, and it winged me off the bad carbs and I feel like a whole new person. whichever path you choose.. good luck. -
Can't lose any weight!
coolcrystal replied to Tangerine4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do phase one of the south beach diet.. no carbs or sugars.... I lost 4 pounds the first two days (2 pounds a day) then one pound a day after that. Basically just eat chicken, green beans, string cheese, stuff like that. High protein stuff.. NO carbs though.. no rice, bread, etc.. My husband also lost the same as me and so has my sister. it's good for a quick and healthy loss. -

Hey girl, tomorrow will soon be here and just take deep breaths.. you are a strong woman and I know you will get through this with flying colors! I know you are nervous, but just think, when you wake up, it will be over and then the recovery will begin and I'm sure you'll get plenty of pain meds to help you out. This is something you've been wanting for a while now, and now it's finally happening!! I'm so happy for you darling! remember, deep breaths and you'll get through this!! HUGGS -
My surgery and weird reaction to anestesia
coolcrystal replied to coolcrystal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks so much everybody for the well wishes! I'm 4 days out and doing so much better. My port area hurts, and oddly, on one side of my port it's completely numb.. not sure why.. but the belching is going down a tad bit, which is nice and I'm getting all my liquids and protein in, which makes me very happy! It's funny, I keep looking at my belly and the steri strips.. lol. Don't know why. I wish I could take them off and see how bad the scars will be... but, I have to keep them on for like 2 weeks I think. The nasty medicine smell is finally gone from my belly.. ICK. I've been walking around like crazy, so I think that's helping me out.... WOOHOO.. things are looking up for all of us it seems!! -
I guess my banding story is a little different than everybody elses regarding the anestesia part and going home. I didn't have problems with the tube in my throat and actually have no soreness with that at all. I explained to him about my huge tonsils and TMJ and he was super kind to my throat.. But, when I woke up, I started vomitting, or dry heaving I should say. since I have the weakest bladder in the world, I then peed all over myself. They tried to give me medicine to counteract that. Since I was still in and out of consciousness they had to wipe me up from me peeing on myself and let me tell you, that was embarrassing. I got wheeled into my room and again had another vomitting attack and peed all over myself again. This time I was able to go clean myself up and my husband helped me too. But now I was nauceous for a long time.. and they wouldn't even give me icechips until the nausea was gone. Oh, but they did take me to xray and made me take 4 huge gulps of barium and the doc wanted to make sure the band was placed correctly and everything was alright. THat was the nastiest shit I've ever tasted in my life. Not exactly what you want when you are dying of thirst either... She let me swish my mouth out, but it didn't help much. Later the nurse told me that my doctor likes making sure the band was placed properly and that there is flow and so he does that xray thing, so I can totally understand that. Finally at 4:30pm they let me have some juice and icechips and I haven't had a problem keeping any liquids down at all. Walking hurts... I can lay on my right side and i'm fine, because most of my holes are on the left side... and I'm belching A LOT and I mean.. my husband told me that I have beat the best belches he's ever had. LOL. I've been trying to walk a lot, but it does hurt and coughing and laughing obviously hurt too. My tummy looks odd.. mishapen, probably cuz of the gas in there. But, my doctor called me at home last night to check on me, but I was asleep and then he just called me just now to tell me how I looked in there, which, well, wasn't great. He said I had in the top 5 biggest livers he's ever seen. He said on a scale of 1-10 and ten being the biggest I had an "8".. WHAT??? lol. I couldn't believe it. I had followed this diet and lost like 9 pounds and just thought it would have shrunk more.. he said it wasn't slippery, it was just big.. he said i'm just a big girl. HA HA. But, he said everything else looked good like my gall bladder and no hiatal hernia, etc. Right now if I drink too much, which I would say about 1/2 cup I start getting nauseaous.. so, you definitely don't want to have more than that. And, try the Propel invigorating Water. It doesn't have as much sugars and carbs as other drinks like this, and it's not as sweet as juices seem to be. Its the only thing I can really stomach right now except water.

Are ther any other fellow banders this week?
coolcrystal replied to Leah Peets's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, go to GNC and get Isopure clear in the glass bottles.. Try the apple melon flavored one or the pineaplle banana one.. they are my favorites. These have 40g of protein per bottle and they taste REALLY good. I've been splitting the bottles into halves and drinking them throughout the day. They are clear like Water, so perfect for the Clear liquids phase. As for me, I'm on the 4th day out. My port site is still really sore and my back started hurting yesterday.. but, it's subsiding. It's funny when my lower belly I can feel it grumbling but my upper belly is full. What seems to satisfy me is taking a cream Soup, straining it and watering the hell out of it.. it's like a brothy creamy soup.. it shuts my lower belly up and it's very satisfying. The plain broth is just making me sick... and not fullfilling. ANd I"m drinking this isopure clear... staying away from the juice though.. oh and propel flavored water is awesome too! I'm staying hydrated and almost all of my gass is gone. I'm not belching quite as bad as before thankfully! -
Shoot, I would be ecstastic with 168 too! I can't believe that's considered overweight though! I bet you look awesome and congrats!!

Calling All Surgeries Monday February 25th
coolcrystal replied to valvinnek's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, it's day three and I'm still really sore, but I can finally turn on my side in bed by myself and get up by myself, but man, the tummy is still really sore. I wonder if it's normal to already experience sliming?? It has happened twice now, once yesterday and just 20 minutes ago. My mouth starts to Water and I feel like I'm going to puke. I sit up straight.. and relax and it goes away; but gosh, I hate that feeling. I'm thinking it was my chewable Vitamin, but the doc said it was okay to take them on the third day.. but, I didn't have much to drink, so I know I wasn't stuffed or anything. I had only had maybe 4 tiny sips of crystal light. I wish I could see my incisions, but they are all covered up with steri strips. He put my port lower than I expected. Kind of in the center of my belly almost. Man, I'm belching like crazy still.. LOLLLLLLLLL. It's rather funny though, because when my friends call I pre-warn them and they are like "ooh, I've gotten to hear a crystal belch".. lol. -
My surgery and weird reaction to anestesia
coolcrystal replied to coolcrystal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
heartfire - he just said I have a big liver.. he didn't say it was fatty and gross or anything.. and then he giggled and was like, "you're just a big girl".. lol. it was cute the way he said it, so I wasn't offended or anything.. He put the AP 10cc standard band on me.. is there a 14cc one too? I think a friend of mine got that one... all these bands are somewhat confusing sometimes. -
Is it do able all by myself?
coolcrystal replied to Thin4Anisha's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ANisha, I don't know... I just got banded yesterday and I can't get out of bed without my husbands help and even walking around is very painful. You definitely won't be able to drive and the first day you'll be very drowsy and want to sleep the whole time. There's got to be some sort of support system your way.. maybe another bandster or friend that should try to come help you for at least the first two days. Please just consider that. -

My surgery and weird reaction to anestesia
coolcrystal replied to coolcrystal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OMG, ya'll are so awesome!! Thanks for all of this.. My hubby just said, "okay babe, that's the longest and biggest belch I've ever heard in my life". It really was the never ending belch and it did come from Wayyyyyy deep within.. but, it oddly feels good.. like I'm getting it out of me. I'm still in shock over being his top 5 biggest livers ever. LOL. I probably AM the biggest rear he's ever seen. I did get blessed with that for sure and a big liver apparently too!! I keep looking at my Patches on my belly. They smell funny. Maybe that stuff they rubbed on my belly during surgery? it has a medicine smell.. ICK. that's what is making me nauceous oddly... -
Krista, it was obvious that Isuzu was here to bash the realize band and all that he did, being so obvious I was surprised that folks just didn't ignore him and quit fueling him for more posts. You trust your doctors and you are all knowledgable people. Shoot, the people in this entire forum are some of the smartest and well educated people I've ever known! If everybody follows the rules with their band, then they should not have anything to worry about. I live in the Dallas area and there are TONS of awesome doctors out here and I know that several of them install both bands because they are happy with the results of both bands and I trust their decision. I'm definitely not one to say "my doctor is the best" or "my doctor is the smartest".. no way would I ever say that because there are some awesome docs out this way. Now, about picking on isuzu.. that is everybody's perogitive, but they were doing it. I saw many picking on his schooling, on his intelligence, on many things.. they weren't out right calling him stupid or a moron, but they were bashing him in other ways, which just made it look like several were scared he was right or fueling him further. You all trust your doctors.... so don't let anything isuzu says change your mind our doubt your band. I'm very excited to see you all do well on the realize band and I can't wait to see your numbers drop!

I was feeling fine with everything and getting my band in ten days until my friend Karl posted this on my blog: "Just a couple words of advice as I have seen one person that had the lapband surgery and she is NOT following the directions on HOW to eat afterwards and there is not a single visible change in her physical appearance size or weight-wise. It is most important to follow the post operative instructions to gain the maximum effect from this." This scares me, becuase I have posted a blog to everybody I know that I'm getting this and now I'm scared that I might have sabotaged myself here. What if my willpower goes kaput and I can't do it.. maybe it's just my nerves.. I don't know.. me doubting myself... I have to start my South Beach diet tomorrow and I litterally teared up last night as I ate my last strawberry for a long time.. I am seriously mourning food.. I feel sort of depressed here and I never get depressed..

Thanks Travelgirl! I feel all special now :-) HEE HEE BELCHHHHHHHHHH oops, scuse me.. -
Wow, well, everybody here knows I'm not Isuzu and should know that I"m not somebody trying to knock your doctors or what band you used. But, after everything I've read here, Isuzu seems to be getting attacked a hell of a lot more than Isuzu has been attacking. I know it could just be anger because you don't want to hear somebody cutting down the band you received and I get that.. I got my lap band yesterday morning and I talked with my doctor about the realize band and this is how the conversation went: Me: There is a conversation on my forums about the Realize band. Is it really triangle shaped? Him: I just went to a bariactric conference last week and yes, it is a triangle when filled. We were all calling it a balloon on a strip and it looked like the old swede bands. Me: is this why you don't use them? Him: well, my biggest concern is the folds folding on the stomach, but according to that conference the results were on par with the AP bands, I just choose not to use the realize band. So, there you go guys. I'm not here defending Isuzu, I don't know him in the slightest, nor do I care who has a better band. In the end, they seem to do the same thing, it's just some doctors are a little more cautious about them. And isuzu wasn't lying about the triangle thing. Now, did Isuzu have other intentions, I don't know.. but I sure as heck don't. And most of you on this thread have seen me post in other places. I don't have some other alterior motive here. WHatever band you got, I'm happy for you and I hope it works well!!
