    Biggest Loser

I agree with you Sadie. There is no way these women can beat these guys.. Especially in the challenges... It seems they are always physical challenges that the guys will always win. LIke the line hovering over the canyon... muscle strength... the bicycling.. muscle strength. Obviously the guys are going to be faster and stronger than the women. I know the challenges have to be physical ones, but at least make the teams even with guys and girls. And Allison's little comment at the end about Ali's weight being the highest lost and "she's a girl"... urked me! She had just come back in to the competition after being on her own for like what, 8 weeks? so of course she is going to drop a lot of weight right when she comes back training with Jillian. It was a smart allick comment and you could tell Jillian didn't like it. I think the show is unfair, period. Especially with the girls against the guys.

    Easy Band-New band from Allergan

So, is this saying you can open and close your band whenever you want to? Like you have control over the device? WEIRD...

I Want My Band Removed Now!!!!!

Yaz, I just saw my doctor on Monday and he said that the average weightloss people have after surgery and for the first two weeks is 5-8 pounds. He said most lose about 6 pounds and that I was right on track. 14 pounds is amazing and don't listen to what your doctor is saying. That was rude and as I've been told, any weight you lose before a fill is a plus and amazing. Also, I know you've heard a lot already, but for the first week after my surgery I was in some weird limbo world.. Don't know if it was the meds, or the anestesia, but I had one slime the second day and was like, "what the hell have I done?" I haven't had another episode since and I'm eating many foods I use to enjoy before. I think with a mixture of the meds, anestesia, and fearing to lose your foods its quite normal to feel this way.... But, I'll tell you what.. this past Thanksgiving, when I knew my lapband would be approaching and I'd never get to pig out at Thanksgiving again, I ate and ate and ate and ate.. and made myself so sick. All night I was belching, in the tiolet and miserable. I didn't enjoy thanksgiving at all, because I felt I had to splurge for my last big "holiday".... after that day I told myself I wouldn't miss that feeling ever again. And I don't. The feeling I have now is wonderful even if I am in "bandster hell", I still can't eat near as I use to, nor would I want to. I'm glad you are on solids now and perhaps you will feel the happiness I do one day. Whatever your decision is, you will find supporters here.
  4. I used an eraser from my pencil at work. It basically erased all the rest of the glue right off... didn't hurt. super easy.. lol

    Stuck at 17 pounds!!!

So, my friend told me yesterday morning that I needed to eat something "bad" because my body has gone into starvation mode.. that I'm just not eating enough calories and "bad stuff" I guess. So, yesterday for lunch I had one fajita and three chips. And guess what... this morning I lost 3 pounds!!! I finally got off the week long plateau of not losing anything and I feel so much better. Then today I can get back on my regular diet plan of eggs, tuna, soups...ooh, maybe I'll try a banana!!

    Getting it off my chest

Yeah, I honestly think that nobody has any fricking right to question your weight at all. It's none of their damned business. It pisses me off that there are people who feel they have any right to even question this about anybody on this forum. We never know what somebody has gone through with their lapband, in your situation, it seems you had a crappy unexperienced doctor; but again, there is probably 100 reasons why people don't lose the weight they want to lose and there are also slow losers... It's bad enough we have people in our lives looking at us up and down and asking us how much we've lost, should we expect it on here too???? Anyway, sorry for what you went through and sorry there are people on here bugging you about it. I'm glad you got a good fill doctor now and you feel the restriction finally.

    Unfinished Lap Band Surgery?

I've heard of people not getting the surgery because the liver was too large and slippery. My friend Dawn said that when she was waking up from her surgery there was a guy next to her that the doctor was telling him they couldn't put the band in because they could tell he didn't follow the pre diet and his liver was too slippery and he couldn't move it. But, if that was your case, then the doc would have told you this. It is a weird situation indeed.

    Not the port??

OMG, that just made me laugh my butt off! LOL. I layed down earlier and I still couldn't feel mine.. ANd my stomach isn't even that big, I feel some type of hardness, but it doesn't feel like it would be a port though. I wonder when this lump under my incision will go away (the stitches). Angie, that pic of yours reminds me of CLaire Danes.
  10. Brad, I don't think you have anything to worry about. THough my doctor only kept me on 1 week of liquids and 1 week of mushies, all doctors are different. The first week she won't be hungry at all most likely, as I wasn't and had to force myself to really drink all my liquids. I have a really low immune system and I've done wonderfully on it. My scars are healing up great, I felt awesome by day 6 and I'm loving my band. I have another friend who was just banded last week and she was in really bad shape before her surgery... we are talking heart attack, 380 pounds, barely could walk type thing and even she is doing awesome now... THe risk of something bad happening is so very low that if me and my friend could do it, I bet your sis will be just fine.

    LASIK, What a great experience

I had lasik done two years ago and I love it. I highly recommend getting the plugs in the eye ducts put in. It keeps your natural tears in your eyes so your eyes never get dry while they are recovering. I got the ones that naturally dissolve after like 2-3 months. I paid a grand for both eyes to be done and the duct things. The next morning when I came back I was like 20/15 in one eye and 20/20 in the other. You can tell you are still healing for a good week afterwards. Oh and I never slept with those stupid glasses on. I tried, but it was so uncomfortable.

    recovery in time or vacation?

Yeah, you'll be totally fine. I was already roughhousing with my friends dog 6 days after surgery and walking on a treadmill... this past weekend I went to my friends house and she has 4 HUGE dogs and they jumped on me and wrestled with me too and I was perfectly fine. Good luck!

    Stuck at 17 pounds!!!

Yes.. I feel your pain. I'm "stuck" too. I haven't lost any weight in a week. OH, I lost .2 pounds this morning.. that's POINT 2. LOL. My doctor told me yesterday that I'm doing great though and not to expect any more weight loss until my first fill.

    Your favorite pre-band meal

Two favorites: chicken Express: (had to use Church's chicken dietary information for everything but the tenders.. Chicken express only put the meat calories on their site, but it's close enough) 7 piece chicken tenders - 230 cals per strip.. 1960 calories/ 105 carbs Side of mashed potatoes - 90 cals/14 carbs Side of gravy - couldn't find this out two biscuits - one with honey and one dipped in the gravy - 500/50carbs Large sweet tea - couldn't find this out total: 2550 total... plus probably about 400 more... WOWWW.. I'm glad I couldn't have this any more once I moved to a new town a year ago.. It had been a year since having this meal.. who knows how big I would have gotten had I not stopped eating this. Taco Bueno: 2 Soft taco's with meat, chz, and sourcream only - 490 / 36 carbs (for both) 1 Muchaco with sourcream - 496 calories / 49 carbs Large strawberry soda - not sure Sourcreams are 57 calories each, so that would be three - 171 Total: 1157 plus whatever soda was...

Since I'm going on a cruise April 20th, I will be well past the month date. lol

    Banded 03/03...

Today makes my two week mark after surgery and I'm able to have: scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, cream soups, tuna fish, stuff like this. After today I can start trying more solid foods... I read where one person said they were eating cream soups and scrambled eggs the day after surgery. WHAT? It is odd how doctors have so many different rules..
  19. For the first week after being banded it's like I could feel something in there... it was NOT painful, but it kind of reminded me of like when you are nervous to speak in front of a crowd.. when you get that knot in your tummy.. like butterflies.. it kind of felt like that. And it sort of went through to my back.. again, not painful, just odd... after a week that all went away and now I just feel back to normal again. I don't feel anything inside of my belly and the port just feels like a little knot in your belly, but doesn't hurt. the other day at the store, the shopping cart handle litterally comes right to my port and i was playing with the cart and the handle like bounced off my port.. it was like a little shield in there. it was quite funny.. it sort of startled me and my husband laughed..

    Very Nervous

Your post sounds like a post I made a week before my surgery. i didnt' want to give up sushi... chicken express and things of this nature. I'm two weeks post op from surgery, and honestly, the only thing I was tempted to have at all so far was pancakes when I saw them on somebody's plate at a restaurant.. and then that thought passed quickly and I ate my tuna salad and was completely satisfied. For me, I haven't been tempted or even been craving anything like I use to. The only thing I've really been craving every day is tuna for some odd reason... You'll see that it will be pretty easy to say no to those items. And, I have several banded friends and they still enjoy thin crusted pizza and the other stuff that you mentioned, but they can totally live without it too. Good luck!!

    Excessive Burping after surgery?

Right after surgery I belched A LOT... for the first week... long deep belches... sometimes I couldn't lay down because the belching pain was too much and I'd have to sit up to belch for 10 seconds and then I could lay down comfortably. But, I think that was just the gas from the surgery. I seem to belch just the same amount as I did before the surgery now... But, I haven't received my first fill yet, so I'll keep you posted after that happens.

Post-Op 1 week, no weight loss

You do have a low weight!! and now look, you are like 190! I'm so jealous! I hope I catch up soon.. I had some chili yesterday and gained two pounds. LOL. I heard it will go up and down post op, so I'm trying not to freak out too much. Maybe I should just weigh once a week and pick a day so I don't get too upset or frustrated.. lol

Am I eating to much and cheating

Well, you could probably try some cream soups now and V8 juice. I went to watery cream soups a few days early because the broth was just making me sick... I called my doc and he said it was fine as long as it wasn't like day three or anything... And it wasn't. It was like day 5 I believe...

My thoughts the night before surgery

Great post!! and I could totally relate. A part of me will miss my fat self... the one that could eat a cheeseburger and fries and 3 rolls of sushi and all that fun stuff.... I'll miss it a LOT. Going out to eat defined me and I did it a LOT. Since being banded I've only been out twice... both times I got soup and it felt weird.. and I looked at all the other tables at people's food and sort of envied them.. then I was like, "god, that's a lot of food".
