    New to Board

Welcome to the group and you are doing great! Most of us have had that stuck feeling and/or PB'ed before, so don't feel like you are alone. And as far as your weightloss, you are doing great with that too. Technically, anybody who has lost at least 16 lbs by now is doing QUITE well as that is a pound a week. You have more than doubled that amount. Can't wait to get to know ya better!

    Share your NSV's!!!!!!!!!!

My two NSV's - I was wearing a baggy 28 (my butt was SO huge, OMG, it was gigantic!) and now I can fit into a 20.. it's so weird because a lot of my weight came off my lower half when normally I lose my waist first. I have lost a lot of waist, but wow... I think I've lost about 6 inches in my butt . Now, granted, the 20's are tight and give me a muffin top, BUT, they button and zip up easily. So, I'm sticking with the 22's for now, but in about 8 more pounds I think the 20's won't give me that muffin top. Because of that I had my hubby take down the two big tubs of clothes from the attic that had all my 18's, 20's and 22's in them. That was nice.. I went to my sister in laws and when I sat in her chair there was actually space between my side and the chair. Holy crap! I use to touch the sides big time. That felt really good.
  4. That is so weird that so many people on here have only had one or two fills in four months especially since they need it. My doctor insisted on me getting my fills every 3-4 weeks if I felt I needed them and I've already had 5 fills and could've had my 6th this friday but definitely don't need it now.. What is up with these doctors that are making people wait 2 months in between... I really feel sorry for those who have doctors like this. I had no restriction hardly after my first two fills.. I really have a lot of respect for ya'll bigtime.. I wonder if there's any way you can switch fills centers...

The two things I have learned recently...

Yep, that makes sense. Last night I didn't go to the gym, but I stretched at home and spent an hour cleaning - vacumming, picking up, doing dishes and I actually worked up a sweat.. at one point I even broke out in dance with two glasses I was putting away... I woke up this morning.. lost a pound. LOL.. My husband sat his rear in the computer room.. he didn't lose a pound. lol.

The two things I have learned recently...

Yay, you are back and don't worry about that three pounds. I gained three on our cruise and it came off that week and then some. It was like some temporary vacation weight gain. lol. And you do not have a fat ass at all.. don't even girlie!! And, the bad stuff definitely goes down a lot easier than the good stuff sometimes, like chips and icecream, but I'm glad I cancelled my fill for this friday because I don't need it. I really don't want to be tighter than this at all because I want to get the good stuff down easily. My doctor said something wise to me once.. he said "don't let yourself get too tight because you will be miserable, I promise" and he is so right. I lose more when I'm not so tight and I'm just happier overall.

    Thinking of cancelling surgery

Yes, I know reading all that stuff can totally scare somebody, lord knows it scared me.. but, there are people who post great things and most people who get their bands , well they tend to move on from this forum and just go on living.. they might not need support anymore or realize how much new people need to hear about thier success stories on here. BUT, I'm here to tell you that I love my band. I've never had any issues with it. I have gotten that stuck feeling, but it doesn't hurt and it was because my fill was too tight at that particular time. Some people get their bands TOO damned tight and that's where 85% of these problems come from. It's actually better to not have it that tight. Of course the folks who are having problems are gonna post because they are worried or have questions.. so, this is what you'll see the most of, but honestly, for every bad post (that could be fixed with probably an unfill) I bet there are at least 4-5 people who have had 100% no problems or issues with their bands and are 100% happy. In the end, make sure its not that you are just nervous about the surgery, because once you cancel, it probably wont' be easy to reschedule it if you change your mind. If you have any questions send me a private email.. Good luck

    Gibson, We've MISSED YOU!!

I agree... I miss several of the double V's that have been MIA.. When I was in a plateau once I didn't come on for like a week or two and it really broke my spirit staying away , but I felt this huge amount of shame like I was failing at this, but it was just because I needed a fill and I got that and got back on track right away. Perhaps Gibson you just need your fill and you'll be fine. If you've only had one, you're probably wide open and need that restriction. I think I need to get more witty... when I'm gone nobody notices. LOLLLLLLLLL
  9. Hey girl, My 4 month bandiversary isn't until Wednesday, but I doubt I'll lose THAT much more in two days. I might lose one more pound if I work out tonight... but anyway, here's my stats: As of June 25th, my 4 month Bandiversary, I have lost 45 pounds. I have had 5 fills, 7.5ccs in a 10 cc band. I haven't lost as much as most poeple on here, but I've had some rather long plateaus lasting 3 weeks long.. which is fine. I didn't want to lose super fast. It still averages 11 lbs a month which is perfectly fine for me.. Also, my 6th fill was scheduled for this friday, but I cancelled it because I definitely do not need it right now. I rescheduled it for July. Big hugs to you and you definitely are ready for another fill if you've only had one in four months! Unless you have perfect restriction with that one which isn't unheard of.

    Dallas/FTW Banders...

I used Dr. Fox (972-566-4560) and I love him. For one, he doesn't require the liquid diet before the surgery. He puts you on Phase 1 of the Southbeach diet for 10 days which teaches you how to eat properly and hey, at least you can eat. He insists you get your fills 3-4 weeks after surgery and every 3-4 weeks after that until you reach proper restriction. I'm scheduled for my 6th fill this friday, and I haven't even been banded for 4 months yet. He basically leaves it up to you and what you and the fill center feels is a good amount. He primed me with 3cc during my surgery and then my fills have been: 2cc, 1cc, 1cc, .2cc and .6cc. I won't even need my fill for this coming friday because I'm at my sweetspot right now. He doesn't believe in letting his patients get too tight though because it's really not good for you and you actually lose better when you aren't too tight, he just doesn't think you need to wait 2 months for a fill.. and I agree! I also have to add that right before my surgery he came to my bed and just chatted with me... made me feel comfortable and at ease... he even went out and talked with my husband who was in the waiting room all nervous.. he didn't have to do that, but he did. Dr. Fox is a wonderful man.. very kind.. the day of my surgery he called me at home at night two times (I was asleep the first time) to talk to me and called me a week later to check on me and when I went to go see him he again made a point to tell me to get my fills right away at 3-4 weeks. I know his prices are: if you are cash, 15k includes everything plus a year of fills for free and a year of visits for free. If your insurance pays you still get 3 months of dr. visits for free. Also, everytime I have called Dr. Fox with questions, he has always immediately called me back within an hour. He is one of the kindest doctors I've ever known. I normally don't make sales pitches with my doctor as I'm sure everybody feels thier doctor is the best, but since you asked, I didn't mind telling. There are several other doctors in the DFW area that are good too, like Dr. Marsden, Dr. Smith, Dr. Jayseelan and a few others.. I'm not sure what their pre-diet practices are or how aggressive they are with fills, but I've heard good things about them.. Good luck with your search! :grouphug:

    Anyone else eating clean?

Yummm, I bought some organic banana's the other day and I put peanut butter on them and eat them... it makes a great snack and I eat these about 30 minutes before my work outs and they charge me up!

    How to Break a Plateau

It looks just like phase one of South Beach diet to me. It does work, but another way to break a plateau is to just change things up a bit.. If you are eating too little, eat a little more. If you aren't working out, work out for a week.. stuff like this. Some people eat the same things every single day.. switch out your foods, add something new... this will usually break a plateau, but plateau's aren't always a bad thing either, it shows you that your body has accepted your new weight.

The two things I have learned recently...

I think if your band is too tight you don't really lose very fast either. With my last fill I was too tight and just not getting enough calories in. You really have to find a happy medium. It irritates me when people think the band is the "easy way out" because it's not. The band does help with me not pigging out on breads and pastas but other than that I still have to work out, eat right and try very hard at this. It's not an easy way out...

    Anyone else eating clean?

I hate to say it, but I think most nutritionists need to just quit their jobs. A lot of them give bad advice and don't know what the hell they are talking about. I say do what you know your body does well with. I follow a mostly south beach diet way of life, but I do need carbs, so I eat whole grain crackers and sometimes mashed or baked potatoes.. This is what my body does well with. Our bodies need carbs so going completely carb free is not good for you. You're doing well so far, do you really need this nutritionist anymore?
  15. I believe this is also caused from your band being too tight.. is it? it could probably easily be fixed by a slight unfill. You need to be a responsible band person and go to the doctor. It's probably going to be something easily fixed.

    First 'near PB experience'

I haven't thrown up yet, but I have gotten stuck a few times which sends me into sliming modes for about 1-2 minutes, but it doesn't happen a lot. I never want to get so tight that I PB. Although, last night I ate so much soup that I was very uncomfortable for a pretty long period of time and "sloshy" feeling. But it passed. I really hate getting stuck. It really is a bad feeling. I'm suppose to get a fill next friday and I think I'm going to cancel it because I honestly have good restriction right now and dont' think I'll need it.

    Failed!!!!

No hair loss with bypass? lol.. I don't agree with that. I have a few friends who've had the bypass and they all have gained their weight back and suffer with severe problems like the dumping syndrome, hairloss and other health problems, not to mention its malabsorptive. And that's permanent. If you are going to promote a different surgery, then please promote the Sleeve, at least that one is a much healthier selection. Sorry your band failed you.

    Self image

Florida girl, I have the same issue.. at almost 300 lbs I remember looking in the mirror saying "damn you're hot!" and I would squeeze through cars thinking I could fit.. and my butt would scrape and I wouldn't understand why. HA HA. Back when I was 220 I had HUGE confidence and it would irritate my parents because they couldn't understand how a "fat" person could be so happy and content and flirt with guys and stuff.. well heck because when I looked in the mirror I thought I was a supermodel or something. LOL. I hope I can keep this feeling becuase my husband says he's glad I have that confidence ( I met him at 242lbs). Of course, we all have our fat days where we feel unattractive, but for the most part, I feel normal sized.

What do you eat in a Mexican Restaurant?

I go to mexican places all the time. I usually get a taco salad or fajitas or nacho's.. it's usually my 'bad' meal once a week... lol. But you had a good idea about picking the stuff out of a burrito or taco..
  22. GIRL!! I love it! the new hairdo and the before and after pictures... you look so much younger and sexy! Thanks for posting these.. you are a true inspiration!

    Good News, Bad news!

Good news: I can still eat Sushi... that's right folks! We went to eat sushi last night for the first time since I got banded and I had 5 pieces of yummy, delicious Sunshine roll!!! Granted, I use to be able to eat like 20 pieces, or 3-4 rolls by myself, but just to be able to taste the wonderfulness of that particular roll made my heart sing! I savored each bite and chewed my little heart out.. and not one uncomfortable stuck moment! Thank you Band Gods!! Bad news: I can't get off this damned plateau I'm on... I know I shouldn't mind, but I've only lost one pound in like 3 weeks. I've played with the same few pounds.. up and down.. up and down.. and I know this is pretty common and I shouldn't be getting upset, but I hate when I get like this because that bad bug gets into my head telling me "you're going to fail at this.. you will be the banded person that never loses more than 40 pounds and people will laugh at you". I hate that feeling. But, I know I'm not alone with this. Usually what will happen is I'll get on the scale one day and just drop 3-4 pounds.. And I'm waiting for that day.... still waiting..

    Good News, Bad news!

OOh, Carmen Electra!! She's totally hot! thanks! I've tried the dark hair like hers and liked it, but it looked better with my skin when I was tanner. I did one of those celebrity look alike things on my myspace and my closest matches were : Alicia Silverstone, Katherine Heigl, and Rebecca Gayheart. lol. But I used a different picture. Maybe I should use this one and see if I get Carmen Electra!
