From Denial to Appeal to Approval
CharlotteWebb replied to CharlotteWebb's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Sorry for my typing. I have fat thumbs. I really can spell, I promise. -
1) Take a deep breath. Grab something to drink and a peppermint. (Peppermints work as a mood stabilizer and assist thought process.) 2) Open up your laptop. We are going to write a letter of appeal. 3) Have your denial letter handy. You will need that address. I will write a dummy letter at bottom for format purposes. 4) MAIL your letter yourself! Also give a copy to your Bariatric Team. You learned a long time ago if you want something done, do it yourself. This is no different. 5) What info needs to be in my letter? Glad you asked or didn't or whatever.. List your height and weight. List your BMI. Write about your life of obesity. When it started, approximately. Why it started if you know. Most importantly in specific, precise detail describe how obesity is effecting your life negatively personally AND physically including medical conditions. Lastly, describe how you understand this is a tool and you are ready to make self changes and better your life if they can please reconsider and grant you the gift of life by approving your surgery for this life-saving tool 6) Mean It!!! Dummy Letter [emoji116] Insurance Co. name Address Address Current date To Whom It May Concern: Letter Body Thank you for your reconsideration. Sign your name in black ink. Type your signature Your address Address Your Area code and phone number

I had great weight loss with the VSG I hit goal in roughly 7-8months and kept it off for almost 3 yrs but the complications started causomg lots of issues. My sleeve was stretched by a non bariatric hi doc because it and my distal esophagus were very narrowed with inflammation. I loat that restriction at that point. I couldnt live with that. -
Regrets???

After all of the testi g and havi g everything in order they decided they wanted 3 months of weight loss visits. Which would be fine if I wasnt goimg to loose my insurance in 2 months. I'm screwed and guess I will just die fat. -
I have ZERO support from my family. It sucks that they dont support me. I shouldn't be surprised as they were ZERO help after my stroke, either. Sent from my LM-V405 using BariatricPal mobile app

I appreciate it. I come from the family where Mother was on a diet all yrs of my youth. From the time I was 12 and moving forward she thought I was overweight and needed to diet although I was 5'6 135 lbs. After nursing school and 4 children then I was overweight at 276 and all I hear is you should've listened to me when you were younger. You her everyone is overweight. My boys are super supportive and eager to help they are teens and just dont know how. These 4 kids (23, 20, 17, & 15) and my grandson are my purpose, my reason.

Me! I am in process of revision from VSG to RNY. My sleeve was dilated with the end of my esophagus due to stricture/dysphagia. This caused VSG to fail resulted in 65 lb weight gain. I have completed all pre testing. I have psych eval on 1/9 then we submit to insurance. Hopeful and ready. -

There are dickholes on this app now. Life is life and sometimes it plain sucks. Everybody tries to survive differently. Not a big fan now that all these assholes are in here acting like they havent touched a Kit Kat or a potato chip or God forbid ate something that contained sugar....[emoji35][emoji34][emoji35][emoji34]

Smoking marijuana after rny, can we do it?

Gummies are great. I have tea infused with CBD EVERY MORNING! I have multiple autoimmune diseases that cause insane inflammation. The Tea seems to keep it at bay but also makes me come alive in the morning. Sent from my LM-V405 using BariatricPal mobile app -
I had the VSG 3/2015. I lost down to 148 was my lowest. After my body completely had a nervous breakdown itself including a stroke 8/2018 I gained back up to 212. I own this completely. I went from 12,000-20,000 a day to 3000 or less steps a day because of right side weakness and repetitive falls. Before I get all the way back to my SW of 276 I am taking action!!!! So here I am, licking my wounds, moving forward. Sent from my LM-V405 using BariatricPal mobile app

I was extremely active therefore wasnt calorie counting. However when I continued to not calorie count and became sedentary I gained 60 lbs within 3 months. I am still in PT for my weak side but I am making good progress and am about to start on a treadmill regimen. Sent from my LM-V405 using BariatricPal mobile app -
