I'm not mourning food anymore
Laydee_G replied to IcanMakeit's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
it's really great to read all your experiences. I am 4 weeks post surgery today and at first struggled with complete food obsession. It's getting easier now but I am still challenged by old behaviours (e.g. eating too quickly, taking big mouthfuls and even taking a mouthful of solid food when I'm still at puree stage which really hurt going down!) However I am learning from all of this that the discomfort of doing the wrong thing will modify my behaviours and also to give it time for my head to catch up with my new physical state. After all, I became obese by being a comfort eater and that is an emotional-psychological disease. I am hopeful the surgery plus some good counselling/group support will give me the control I need to live a much healthier life. Best of luck to all xxx -
@@angewil60 I couldn't even text "Hi, I'm fine" to my family and friends when I came out of surgery so I take my hat off to you and wish you all the best as the meds wear off...!

Where are the November Sleevers?
Laydee_G replied to ToccoraVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Wtloss Hi - please give yourself a break: you are only 3 weeks post op and your body is still recovering from the surgery. You need time to recover. At my pre-op assessment I was told it takes 6 weeks before the body gets back to normal. Right now everything you ingest is to help your new new pouch get used to functioning without stretching it. Try to see this time as healing, and when you're back on solids at smaller portions combined with some serious exercise I am sure you'll see really positive results. You have lost weight since the op, so Celebrate it! I am 11 days post op and have not weighed myself yet. I am focusing on getting in my protien, fluids and Vitamins which I think is challenge enough: I cannot dictate to my body how much it should lose. As long as I follow my surgeon's and dietician's advice to the letter that is all I need to worry about. I can't wait to start exercising and reclaim my health. I feel as though I have been given my life back and I intend to enjoy every minute of it! Focus on the wonderful opportunities that are going to open up for you and don't limit it by how many pounds you have lost. Best of luck to you and to all of us on this very courageous journey. xxx -
The book can be bought on amazon.co.uk and Carol Bowen Ball the author has other recipes on her website http://www.bariatriccookery.com The lentil soup recipe isn't online but I will send it to you

Yes - the blood thinning shots are not great but it's not forever and neither are the physical discomforts. Maybe you should see your doctor if you're still having sharp pains when you swallow: it might be your pain relief is not as effective as it should be. Yesterday I made a liquid Stage Soup from a wls cook book called "Return to Slender." It was the most delicious thing I'd eaten all week AND my new pouch tolerated it! I hope all goes well for everyone because this is not a procedure that any of us has taken lightly. xx

Where are the November Sleevers?

Hi - my op was on 23rd November. From the UK and recovering well apart from the head hunger! -
I am 4 days post op and in minimal pain but struggling with head hunger! I am obssessing about foods I cannot have right now but realise the WLS is just a tool: the real food issues lie in my mental-emotional state. I can't use food to comfort myself anymore (thank goodness) but I feel I'm starting over and everything is strange and new...
