    Weight Lifting/ weight loss

Steve, perhaps your doctor doesnt want you lifting cause you do not have a good athletic foundation and is afraid you will hurt yourself. Or perhaps you fall into the super obese category where he is more concerned first with shedding the excess fat than doing any resistance training. I have done resistance training all my life and plan on being a solid and firm 210-215 lbs once I shed all my excess weight. Just for reference, this is a picture of me from 5 years ago where I was 270lbs. down from 320 doing high Protein and no carbs, I was about 31% body fat, but I was stronger than I have ever been and was losing 2-4 lbs a week of all fat. I am still obese in the picture but you can see I have a solid muscular foundation underneath...That is a completly different 270lbs than someone who would not lift at all and be in the range of 40% body fat... The weight training makes a big difference and is good for some, and bad for others you need to do what is good for your body and type. I personally never could have a runners body, Im just not built for it.. Right now Im 305 and probably 35 % body fat and look like shit..

    Discouraged and regreting

If you look at it this way, you lost 16 lbs in a month. Thats a HUGE win in the world of weight loss. Average is 1-2 lbs a week or 4-8 a month.. Do the protein, water and walk...Your body will start to burn it off.
  5. I didnt put on weight I didnt even get the surgery yet, I was suggesting the OP to try and add some muscle with resistance training to his regimen. That will in theory spark his metabolism back up to burning some fat and he will burn more resting calories. Our bodies get used to our eating habits and work outs, which we need to change occasionally.
  6. I got my self over anxious about my shoulder surgery..Woke up was in very little to no pain. The worst part was the headache I woke up with and the vomiting any time I ate or drank anything. But that was from 4pm till about 2:30-3:30 am..After that it was fairly easy..I have had multiple surgeries, but never abdominal surgery, but have had broken ribs..THAT sucked..Uggggg....3 more days...I wish I could just skip the whole night before and day of the surgery and be done with it..
  7. I agree, I think the OP is getting into the opposite end of the spectrum of danger that she had prior to the surgery.
  8. Well looks like youll be a Burbon and 1/2 burger gal from now on..
  9. Put on a few lbs of muscle the fat will burn itself off..
  10. I dont think 320 calories a day for a long term is good for you at all. I think you need about 500-800 calories a day just to survive..
  11. Im afraid beyond belief...But Im also tired of being the fat guy..

    Surgery completed 1/6/15.

I just picked up a case of the Isopure clear coconut flavored ones..They will be my go to liquid for the first few days.. Might water them down a bit.

    Not by surgery alone -

That video described my life to a friggin T man...To a T.....I exercised like a mad man to maintain 285lbs, the second I stop I go up to 300+ Im 307 right now and 3 days till surgery...I simply can not control what I eat on my own..I also am combining mine with some mental counseling for behavioral issues..Thank you sooooooo much for this video, you made my decision so much easier I was second guessing myself and my decision..
  16. Thanks for the advice. Are you out of the hospital? How long did you stay?
  17. How long did the swelling take to go down?
  18. What is hard about getting the water down at first? Pain in the stomach? Or just gag reflexes?

Weight Training After The Gastric Sleeve Surgery?

This is me several years ago when i was dieting down from 320. I was 272 in this picture. I was still fat but as you can see I have a fairly muscular frame..I was benching 360 for reps at this time before my shoulder injury...Hmm...Perhaps thats why my shoulder was injured...

Weight Training After The Gastric Sleeve Surgery?

This is one of my reservations about getting the surgery...Im set for Jan12th and keep second guessing myself..im so used to being the big strong guy that losing my muscle and size is hard to deal with mentally. Im 305 right now and want to get to 215 the absolute lowest, but want to be solid, not sickly looking. Im hoping I can get enough protein in after the surgery to minimize muscle loss and be able to work out like I did..I love lifting and martial arts..Hopefully being 80lbs lighter will make it easier on the old joints!!!

I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)

    WOW!!1 great job!!!
  24. I tend to recover from surgeries rather quickly. I had shoulder surgery and after vomiting till 3:30 am I was up and out and about the next day with almost no pain using my pain meds....I hope this surgery is the same cause I am really really scared..Im afraid Im gonna hate my life afterwards or Im going to regret doing it afterwards..But I know deep down inside I NEED it, cause Im not going to loose weight on my own and know I have an addiction to food..Im also going to a therapist for my food desires and why I turn to food for comfort..
  25. keep us posted how it goes..Gas pains?? Or sore from someone poking tools into your guts and cutting out 80% of your stomach?
