Did your doctor give you a diet plan at all??? I can email you mine...for the first 4 weeks.
  2. Just curious how long it took for your incisions to feel normal again? Specifically the largest one. It has been sore today while trying to sit or put my socks on. And its tender if I touch the stomach around and above it and between another incision. No redness, discharge or swelling or anything like that, just tender and burns at times. Other than that, I feel good!

    I failed myself yet again...

I wanted to bump this topic up to help all those that are considering doing WLS but have doubts and fears and cant come to terms. I just had my procedure done on February 27th 2017 over 2 years later from the start of this thread. Instead of going on a long winded rant, here is my long winded videos that explain my journey that lead my back to this point. If my story can help just one person make this difficult decision then I feel it was worth sharing!!!

remember surgery is a tool not a fix. Remember all those strict diets you would see in the health magazines and you would be like "OMG how do people survive on that little food?". Well this surgery allows your mind and body to work together to follow those eating habits, where before your surgery you simply couldnt do it cause your body fought you every step of the way. You have an 18 month RESET window to loose all your excess weight, do it now dont look back and return to smaller portion control.
  6. The theory behind this is the temporary spike in calories and sugar trigger your metabolism to speed up. When you are on strict high protein , low carb diets your body gets used to it and slows down eventually. Every once and a while you need a cheat meal although Im not sure Hostess orange cupcakes are the best option, although delicious.. Try and eat one carb rich meal a week or every 2 weeks and only one meal. And when I mean carb rich, I mean pasta, rice, bread, piza....Real shitty stuff. but it will trigger your body to not go into starvation/deprivation mode.

Baby food is the worst thing you can eat...Tons of sugars and calories for babies to grow..Bananas arent to bad after a workout to replenish the body, but dont rely on them as a food source. They are very high in sugars also.

    4 months post-op-stopped losing weight

Most likely your bodies are in starvation mode and hanging on to calories. Try adding a few hundred healthy calories a day and upping your Water intake.
  9. Damn, you had the trifecta of pain!!!
  10. If you think you can do it on your own , watch my first video the 23 minute one. It explains how i backed out 2 years ago and how I would up back to this point. I too thought I didnt need help. Also my cousin who had the procedure in August uses the banana shake as creamer in her coffee. Watch this video if your having doubts about doing the surgery and think you can do it on your own.
  11. As i said in the other thread, you know exactly what you're doing wrong which almost makes it worse that you're still choosing to do it after having gone through this whole process many years ago. #1) Night shift is terrible for your body, try and get off of it. #2) Stop filling up on Snacks, especially at night. Worst time to eat empty calories. Examine what it is in your life that is causing you to make these poor choices.
  12. Well, long story short exactly 2 years ago today I backed out of Gastric sleeve surgery literally last minute. Like almost on the operating table last minute. To sum it up, I was not ready to make such a commitment as removing 80% of my stomach that god gave me.Sitting there waiting for someone to cut out parts of me I felt weak and helpless, the most helpless and scared I have ever felt in my life. I was not ready mentally. I went on a very low calorie diet for a few months and lost 30 lbs or so, but you know the rest of the story... I haven't gained any additional weight in the last 2 years, but I haven't lost any either and I'm right back a few lbs shy of where I was that day 2 years ago... After some hard thinking and soul searching the past 2 years I'm ready to get WLS. But I have decided to look into the Lap Band and I will explain why in a moment. I'm currently 288-290 lbs at 5-11. I have a decent muscular frame underneath and probably should be about 225 lbs. I'm very active and work out regularly with weights, cardio and martial arts. All of my blood work routinely comes back nearly perfect, I'm just cosmetically fat....For now...And the FOR NOW comment is what has made my decision, after watching a YouTube video by a guy named Fighting400 where he said the point to get WLS was when you were healthy so you can prevent all the sicknesses associated with being obese. And this to me makes better sense then waiting till your fighting for your life. I have been overweight my entire life and never was taught proper eating habits from a young age. I did my damage from 5 years old till about 16 years old where I was 250 lbs and a size 44 pants. I took control of my life and lost weight and was down to 210 lbs and a 34 pants by 18 years old. I maintained about 225-235 lbs most of my early 20's. In my early 30's following a few injuries and after we had a child, I gained a ton of weight and went up to 300 lbs. My wife stayed the same size, I put on all the baby weight lol.. The fact that I already work out fairly regularly and am able to maintain my wight relatively stable, made me decide the Lap Band would give me the perfect little boost I need to limit my food intake and get me to a good maintainable point in my life. I only slightly overeat with slightly larger portions than I should be eating. Im not subject to the massive binges associated with some people with hard to control eating disorders. I dont think Im that far gone where I need to subject myself to the more risk associated with the other surgeries, but I definitely need a tool to assist me a bit. I have my consultation on Thursday, wish me luck everyone!!
  13. The first few minutes were the worst for sure. Deep slow breathing and drugs help...
  14. I had one out of 5 times under where I woke up and threw up all night after my shoulder surgery. Ever since they took precautions and gave me medication prior to prevent it.
  15. A video is worth a thousand words.

    2 days post surgery

The pain gets better the more you move. Walk walk walk...When you're done walking, walk some more.
  17. I think even without a weight loss surgery in the picture your current diet and lifestyle would get you sick. Dehydration is very easy to achieve and most people dont drink nearly enough liquids as it is.

    Reader discretion advised

Im 4 days post op and dont think i have any solid waste to pass yet...At what point do you look into constipation being an issue and not just not having any waste to pass.
  19. You kind of answered your own issue with your first post. You work nights and snack on chocolate. You know what your not supposed to be doing, yet your doing it. Working the night shift is the absolute worst thing for your metabolism and body. Combine that with eating snacks instead of healthy meals and boom, 20lbs....
  20. Hey OP, how did it go? Today should be your surgery date...Hope all went well!

    My Story....Feb 27th date

As was I....lol Excited to get it over and move on with my life yet petrified of the unknown. The worst is the first few minutes after you wake up, once your past that it gets better hour by hour.. My surgeon told me to take deep slow breaths when I woke up and thats what I did. They gave me pain meds and brought me to my room and took a nap. I was up and walking around the floors within 2 to 3 hours of waking up...The quicker you move around the better it is..
  22. I havent had any psychological regrets as of yet and know I most likely will not. I know I will be able to eat the decent foods I loved to eat before, just not yet. The thing that held me back was not being able to over indulge like I'm used to . Once I said to myself I was being absolutely ridiculous and need way less food in my life than I was used to indulging on it was an easy decision to make. My surgeon was great the hospital was great with the exception of the messed up wheel on my IV stand that made it sound like a horror movie as I walked the halls at 3am, things went smooth. The worst point is the first 10 minutes after waking up..It does get better hour by hour literally.
  23. Yeah just walked 1/2 mile...Still feeling like crap but hopefully this will be all worth it in the end, I havent felt any regret as of yet.. Trying to get the fluids in is a challenge.
