  1. I'm 40+ pounds down in 4 mos. time!!! My clothes fit My knee pain gone My foot pain gone My cholesterol is low end of normal My blood pressure is normal My meds have been adjusted so I am not spending a fortune on medications!! Can't wait until this rainy weather passes so I can get out and really get moving!! BEST DECISION I EVER MADE I can pretty much eat anything I want except soft bread, I can eat toast or crackers but not soft bread. With my meals I focus on getting my Protein in first, then my veggies. The #1 thing I have found is CHEW, CHEW, CHEW your food! The moment I feel a 'full pang' - I stop eating. I wait 30 min and then drink some Water... I eat out, and I take ALOT of it home...but I can fit in the booth now comfortably!!! LOL
  2. NO!! Pre surgery: I wasn't a 'big fan' of soda as my body could not tolerate it, and I paid for it with UTI's. Seriously if I drank 3 sodas a week- you can bet money within the next 2 weeks I will be at the ER with a UTI. So I learned a long time ago to make Water my friend... But aside of the bloating the carbonation stretches your stomach too! And why go through what you have only to do the same thing to your body all over again....because once it stretches it will take more food to get to that 'full' feeling...AND no straws.. Honestly I am too scared to try it, I'm afraid the stretching will do damage to my suture line in my stomach!!! just not worth the risk. I have a friend who is 4 yrs. post op gastric bypass she drinks soda- but she dilutes it with water....lessens carbonation.

    SUGGESTIONS ON EATING OUT!

I am just shy of 60 days post op. and down 30 #!!! Last week was my first experience of eating out. We did 2 days- first day was a cheese quesadilla/beans (PROTIEN)....I couldn't eat no more that 1/4 of it. Second time we went to Olive Garden for the soup/salad...we got appetizers the mushrooms/cheese bites (Mistake #1) by the time the Soup arrived, I could not eat it. NO I did not eat any bread....I ate 1 serving of salad with my 2 mushrooms/1 cheese bite. YES ....TAKE HOME BOXES ARE A MUST!!! Still learning...when ordering I always look for what would have the most Protein....

    3 wks. POST surgery

Yes I quit taking mine after surgery. WITH my NP approval, but we had already had an understanding that is what would happen, cause I WANTED TO KNOW. What I would suggest that you do is monitor 2-3 times daily your blood pressure for about 5-7 days. And then I would take my readings to my PCP and have a serious talk with him/her, and ask WHY can you not even try without the medications... Yes they are the medical expert, but you CAN and should ask questions.
  5. Surgery was Dec. 16, 2014. I am 20 pounds down:) I have been given the 'green light' to eat soft foods. MAN! I never knew a scrambled egg could taste so good ! ! I still drink my Protein shake for lunch. And I try my best to make sure my protein is the first thing I eat. BUT WOW! 5 days post surgery....I never knew a pickle could look so delicious! But I refrained, and maintained. What I find most perplexing is getting the amount of Water in and protein. I can only hold about 3 oz. and I'm NOT trying to stretch it out !! But I keep on keeping on. My b/p has been within normal limits since I had the surgery WITHOUT MEDICATION:) as well as my cholesterol. My knee pain is gone too!! And I sleep better:) Each day brings something new to learn....like I cannot chug water ....I must take small sips....and I must walk. I don't have one regret..........
  6. I am new to this, and how it works. I hope these requests are not for me personally, if so then my deepest apologies for not acknowledging your requests. If you let me know, I will do my best to make sure you are accepted- if it is me you are requesting friendship for.
  7. I'm glad to hear everyone is doing fine. My sleeve was moved back a week, so I will go in Dec. 16th.
  8. if you are taking pain meds STOP EATING NOW! Go back to Clear liquids and take a laxative. You may need a couple of Fleet enemas. If no results call your MD ...ASAP Codeine no matter what quantity has a huge propensity to constipate. You can quickly progress to a blockage and you DO NOT WANT THAT! Hope this helps. PS: I'm also a nurse. And I have been on that other side. Just remember the most important...DO NOT STRAIN
  9. I am scheduled for Dec. 9th. Is anyone else getting the filter to catch / prevent clots from moving into lungs, heart, or brain?
